A HDMI cable uses a digital signal (0's and 1's), so unlike an analogue signal (used by SCART and Component connections), the thickness / quality of the cable does not matter really. A £5 HDMI cable should function as well as a £50 one.

Im probably wrong, mind.

Cable quality makes a huge diference with analouge signals....But as HDMI is 100% digital, then as long as the cable is within 'spec' a $2 cable will give you as good a picture as $200 one.....Dont let the sharks or the dim and gulible who spent $$$'s on their cables tell you any different

The only possible POSSIBLE difference a higher quality cable would make is in shielding. I should imagine the higher quality ones are less susceptible to electrical interference meaning you get less pictures glitches, but really, that's grasping at straws. Just get the cheapest one you can.

The gadget shgow tested HDMI cables recently and found little or no difference between expensive and cheap cables. I'm running on a £7.99 cable and have a great PS3 picture quality

Completely off topic, but just had to find this sketch 'cos of your forum name....
