SaintBobby Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-one/coca-cola-league-1/next-season This seems like ungeneours odds - we're the fourth favourites behind Leeds, Charlton and Norwich.
Graffito Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 We start with minus 10 points so not all that ungenerous.
Leslie Charteris Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Are you sure that's not the odds to start in League 1 next season?
exit2 Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 sounds just the like odds for us to win the ccc when we first went down
Trader Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 I'd have us at more like 250-1. Leicester had a storming season, if they'd started on -10 they wouldn't have won it. I can't see us matching their record next season - play-offs at best, and that's being optimistic. Keep your money in your pockets folks!
Toomer Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Is that not a typo, it should read we are 16-1 to still be around to be in league 1.
Andy_Porter Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 We're actually 6th favourites. MK Dons and whoever loses the play off game will both be shorter odds than us, still seems very strange that we're 16-1. Seems like some very lazy work for skybet.
sotonjoe Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 hardly bad odds when it looks touch and go whether we'll have a club next month.
Hatch Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 We are the form team of this league. Last time we were in it we won it.
Junction 9 Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 We start with minus 10 points so not all that ungenerous. Are you joking? 16-1 on -10 NOT ungenerous?
Graffito Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Are you joking? 16-1 on -10 NOT ungenerous? Yes you're right, confused myself with a double negative. I meant to indicate I wouldn't be putting any money on Saints at 16-1.
BotleySaint Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 I'll be happy with survival. You just know it'll take us till Christmas just to get off the bottom!
Professor Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 What a shock - the odds suggest most bets on Leeds, Norwich and Charlton. Hard to understand why anyone would bet on Saints as its a complete unknown as to which first chioice players will still be here next year. Relegation may be more likely than promotion for all we know at the moment.
St Louis Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Looking at the League 1 season which has just finished, we would need the following points (based on starting with -10 points): Avoid Relegation - 60 Points Needed (1.3 pts per game) Reach the Playoffs - 86 Points Needed (1.87 pts per game) Automatic Promotion - 99 Points Needed (2.15 pts per game) I think as a club we just dont have a winning mentality, its not instilled in the players, fans or staff! I would love to see us winning most weeks, but unfortunately I just can't see it at the moment! I think we will do well to avoid relegation.
egreog Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 IF the club survives, IF they clear out 90% of the present wasters, IF they get a half decent manager and crop of grafters.........then I would settle for consolidation in the 3rd Division............just to avoid relegation would be an achievement for Saints........whichever league they are in its seems a scramble around the bottom is par for the course and anything better a temporary bonus!
Dalek2003 Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Next year is about stabilising the ship. I think we can push on the season afterwards.
red&white56 Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 When most Div 1 clubs are already planning for next season and we still don't know if we will exist, let alone who will manage us or who will play for us if we do survive - they have such a head-start on us andwe start with at least -10 pts, then I don't think we can do much more that hope for survival next season. What's the odds on us getting relegated - that might be a more interesting thread............................
so22saint Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Next year is about stabilising the ship. I think we can push on the season afterwards. What about if we got Hoddle in? :-)
Saint Without a Halo Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Are you sure that's not the odds to start in League 1 next season? If it is we only need to put 312k on this bet to recover the £5m needed to buy the club and then the bet will pay out! Quick tell Pinnicale
sandwichsaint Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Are you sure that's not the odds to start in League 1 next season? Coffee on keyboard and monitor!
SaintRichmond Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-one/coca-cola-league-1/next-season This seems like ungeneours odds - we're the fourth favourites behind Leeds, Charlton and Norwich. Simple Question .... How do they KNOW we will still be in existance ?????
Pancake Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Simple Question .... How do they KNOW we will still be in existance ????? Simple answer .... They DONT !!!!!!
The9 Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Another simple question, is that the odds "with a run", or would we get a refund on our stupidly wasted bet at frankly weak odds if the worst happens and we don't even get to the starting gate ?
