hypochondriac Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 I'm going to go to the Chapel next season. I'm lacking in friends.
Mole Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Oh when the Saints? A song sung in the cotton fields of Americas deep south.
matt111 Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 What about this one? We did play it once this season at the doncaster game
bigd316316 Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 This song sounds familiar?? ................................................................. almost like id written a similar version myself?!?
bigd316316 Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 I think it's a cracker but then I am a tad biased! Available for download here: http://www.saints-aid.co.uk/ Coast are due on stage at Saints Aid at 3pm next Saturday. Highly recommended! This song sounds familiar?? almost like id written a similar version myself?!?
Loyal Saint Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 A song sung in the cotton fields of Americas deep south. Plastics. Bet half of them haven't even set foot in SMS this season :-)
Graffito Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 I got halfway through it. I'd really like to say I like it but I can't. And it aint Irish either.
Tac-tics Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Colours!Colours!Colours! I imagine that will be the stadiums adaptation
SFC Forever Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Good or bad these people have done something to help our club. Personally I will buy it as My 5 yo will be able to play it in the car as we drive to games. As long as we are still alive.
Master Bates Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 (edited) Great song, brought a tear to the eye. Edited 17 May, 2009 by Master Bates
krissyboy31 Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 I don't get the main lyric of.... " When I need a friend, I go down to Chapel End " No me neither, it made me chuckle!! I thought if you went down the Chapel End you were Billy No Mates!! I suppose it fits the song better though?
Master Bates Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Maybe they say "Chapel End" as that's where the song writer may sit?
moon monkey Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 It's not a bad song, not something you can sing at the games though. It's a bit cheesy too
krissyboy31 Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 I think is pretty good. It's not really my cup of tea, musically but then again, you'll never get a song that everyone likes. We can't agree what bog-roll should be used at SMS FFS! End of the day, it is a great effort to help keep the club afloat and I will buy/download it when it becomes available.
OldNick Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Hehe...good spot! I was having a chat with the lead singer (Paul Eastham) earlier and I did say he would get some flack for the 'Chapel End' line! He said that he tried recording a version with 'Northam End' but it didn't trip off the tongue as well as 'Chapel End'...so put it down to artistic licence! Cheers!first time a song comes from the Chapel

Cheers! speaking as someone who does sing down the Chapel End (you must have heard me?) - I'm loving this song - great effort and well done to everyone involved
SoccerMom Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 speaking as someone who does sing down the Chapel End (you must have heard me?) - I'm loving this song - great effort and well done to everyone involved I sing down the Chapel End, too, much to the nipper's chagrin. It just feels kinda lonely sometimes...
Mole Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 I got halfway through it. I'd really like to say I like it but I can't. And it aint Irish either. It sounds like it has a bit of an Irish twang to me and they evidently want to be Irish sounding. Click on the bands logo to listen to the official Saints Aid song.
georgeg Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 I sing down the Chapel End, too, much to the nipper's chagrin. It just feels kinda lonely sometimes... its only "lonely" because we are too split up all over the stand - it was like it in the Prem and because of the reduction in numbers its worse now - one day the Chapel will get itself organized and the singers will sit/stand together - upper block 18 anyone?
OldNick Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 It sounds like it has a bit of an Irish twang to me and they evidently want to be Irish sounding.I dont thin it will be a big seller in the blue part of Glasgow and NI
emerson massey Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 not my cup of tea but good song, and at least they've put the effort in to try and do something positive that helps us Good job COYR
ART Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Really love it and do agree that the "Northam end" would be far more appropriate. At the same time I've worked out that one can sing the following along to the chorus When the Saints go marchin' in. We all bleed red and white And we sing with all our might When the Saints go marchin' in. Would've won the Eurovision without a doubt and is just the anthem needed to take the club forward....................................if only...????
jeff leopard Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Sounds like a christian song. Fair play to everyone getting involved and doing this, but... It sounds like really terrible pro-war red-neck US country and western, i felt wrong deep inside and kept expected a reference to sending the filthy towel-head back to his weird freaky god. Nothing about it says Southampton to me. Anyone remember The Family Cat? We should get those guys back to do a tune.
SFKA South Woodford Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Pretty good song, hope it gets released to the shops.
Mole Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Sounds like a christian song. You've got a point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2NEU6Xf7lM
miserableoldgit Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Sounds like a christian song. I hope not! Wouldn`t want offend anyone.
Cabrone Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 An alternative tune for SFC...........? (and I like it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6xkT7FMyTc

Barry Horne Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 You've got a point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2NEU6Xf7lM The opening bit reminded me of Local Hero, like it.
Hemel Saint Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 ...now thats not bad! As someone else said, if Notts F. can have "Mull Of something or other", then the Chorus on this will sound pretty good around StMarys. Well done to those at Saints Aid for taking the time and effort....

Master Bates Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Nice one Simon.... http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/video/video.php?v=81386153934&ref=nf +1.
trousers Posted 18 May, 2009 Author Posted 18 May, 2009 as if our club wasnt embaressing enough we come out with ****e like this "If you're strong enough to not worry about what other people think of you then you won't be embarrassed" Billy Dainty, August 1963
Mole Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 "If you're strong enough to not worry about what other people think of you then you won't be embarrassed" Billy Dainty, August 1963 Trousers are you in the band or something to do with the song?
OldNick Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 It is no point in sniping at any of the bands they are doing it al for the best reasons. No genre will suit all tastes and so this is the chosen one, lets hope it raises plenty of money
trousers Posted 18 May, 2009 Author Posted 18 May, 2009 Trousers are you in the band or something to do with the song? Nope, I'm not talented enough for that. I'm 'just good friends' with the band members. Also run their message board. So, no vested interest whatsoever in the slightest....

Marsdinho Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Just realised my post rhymed, maybe I should have written the song.
Saints foreva Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 What will happen to the money that SaintsAid makes if the club goes bust before the event happens?
