bridge too far Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Its like a tactical game of Chess all this. In the spirit of this thread, I was about to say 'I'm getting my skates on'. But I don't want that to be misinterpreted.
itchen Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 OK I'll bite. Where did this latest rumour come from? And what happens now? Will we get by (we always did before)?
beatlesaint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 OK I'll bite. Where did this latest rumour come from? And what happens now? Will we get by (we always did before)? Thank God you have, I didnt like to ask !! Besides surely HE would be more likely to sample a taste for the Orient wouldnt he ?
bridge too far Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Thank God you have, I didnt like to ask !! Besides surely HE would be more likely to sample a taste for the Orient wouldnt he ? But he is a Hampshire boy apparently: Baron Lloyd-Webber, of Sydmonton, in Hampshire (his title is hyphenated but his surname is not).
ladysaint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 I didnt think he even liked football, come to think of it that is most probably why he could be interested in us then.
SaintDonkey Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 It's almost certainly rubbish but just at the moment I'll grasp any glimmer of hope with both hands.
The9 Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 He's a Leyton Orient fan according to Wikipedia. Make your own jokes... Also, having seen his football-and-Belfast-troubles based musical The Beautiful Game in the West End during its extremely brief run in 2000/1, I'd have guessed he wasn't a football fan either.
bridge too far Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 There was some talk last year (or was it the year before) about Everton chairman Bill Kenwright who is, of course, good buddies with AL-W. That's the only very tenuous link I can think of.
the boy from saints Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 No comment without a lawyer present. Just stare at the bewbs. Seriously...I've already spent far too much of my life staring at your avatar!!!
Weston Saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 It's not over until it's over. Thank God it's not over and they are still negotiating. I have received no information from the contacts of both the front runners since early this morning but the fact talks are still going on is encouraging. I can wait.

I have received no information from the contacts of both the front runners since early this morning but the fact talks are still going on is encouraging. I can wait. I can wait too but at some point there has to be an end. With either good news or bust. Question - what is the deadline date?

That's the only very tenuous link I can think of. But wasn't it Tommac who had connections with an ex-Everton board member...? the Irish chap who has a cinema empire....? I think Lloyd-Webber's name cropped up around the same time....?
Weston Saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 I can wait too but at some point there has to be an end. With either good news or bust. Question - what is the deadline date? That has never been made clear. I assume when they need to pay the players. I would suggest next Thursday may be the latest as that is likely to be when the wages need to be paid.

trousers Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 So the players could effectively kill the club by not forgoing their wages for a month? Would seem that way...
Amesbury Saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Would seem that way... given that we have been in admin for ages now, probably too late to make a difference. Lets just get the new owners in!

SaintRichmond Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 8 hours is nothing. I was once involved in a mediation that took 16 hours a day for 5 weeks, Saturdays and Sundays until we reached a resolution that all parties were happy with. This is taking the same kind of length of time. The deal has to be absolutely spot on. What was the outcome ???? ...... did you switch over to ITV .... or stick with BBC 1 ..... ??????

kpturner Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Is MLT scheduled to be on SNS today?Yes, but why do you ask?
SaintRobbie Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Yes, but why do you ask? To gauge his appearance and emotions... he's pretty happy today by the looks of things.
miserableoldgit Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 To gauge his appearance and emotions... he's pretty happy today by the looks of things. Didn`t see all of Soccer Saturday. Did Matt say anything interesting about Saints?
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Didn`t see all of Soccer Saturday. Did Matt say anything interesting about Saints? nothing at all!
Kingsland Red Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Er, sorry to be a bit of a luvvy, but Lloyd Webber is nothing to do with Les Mis!!!
SW11_Saint Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Didn`t see all of Soccer Saturday. Did Matt say anything interesting about Saints? No, but I tell you what - he didn't half look smart. Perhaps part of his new image as a "Football Club Owner"???
miserableoldgit Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Er, sorry to be a bit of a luvvy, but Lloyd Webber is nothing to do with Les Mis!!! Thats why I said that I couldn`t understand how we had got round to it, but as it is my favourite musical, and someone had posted the "Do You Hear Southampton Sing/" song, I thought that I would join in.
saintalan Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 Thats why I said that I couldn`t understand how we had got round to it, but as it is my favourite musical, and someone had posted the "Do You Hear Southampton Sing/" song, I thought that I would join in. There were 2 threads running with regard to songs and I inadvertently posted on the wrong one
miserableoldgit Posted 16 May, 2009 Posted 16 May, 2009 There were 2 threads running with regard to songs and I inadvertently posted on the wrong one Don`t worry! You can`t go wrong with "The Glums!" And it was a bloody good effort on your part.
miserableoldgit Posted 17 May, 2009 Posted 17 May, 2009 Anything in today's papers? Yeah loads. Mainly MP`s expenses and the break up of Jordan and Pete. Not a sausage about Saints though!
