ladysaint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 just as a matter of interest, and I really hope it doesnt happen, but if SFC no longer existed as a League 1 team or member of the FL would anyone benefit, i.e. who would take our place and would their be any other benefits to the FL or other clubs.
Frank's cousin Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Ultimately, the media channels would prefer if we all stopped supporting our local sides and just sat and watched TV - premiership only with pay per view at 3pm on a Saturday for your match choice....
egreog Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 I would imagine Eastleigh FC would benefit and perhaps Salisbury.....
lee_saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 I'm not too sure, Chester some would say but they are on the verge of admin themselves. I would assume Northampton would not be relegated to League Two, and they put another team up from the Blue Square.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 I would imagine Eastleigh FC would benefit and perhaps Salisbury..... .......... Maybe this is all their fiendish plan ?? :axe:
John B Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 My family would benefit as they could use the Internet more
slickmick Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Good question, I guess they would have to promote or reinstate someone from each of the Leagues below us to accomodate us in the Blue Square Prem, thats if they would have us.
lordswoodsaints Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 In financial terms I would benefit as it costs me a fookin fortune to support saints..........pesky kids, but I would have to weigh that up against having to do other stuff on a Saturday afternoon, like shopping and keeping the kids entertained.
lee_saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Blue Square chairman has said he's already been contacted, which I find a little strange. He stated that he would be delighted if were in the Conference (I don't think we as fans would be!). I was talking to someone today though, how come Stockport only got points this season? They were already safe and then got 10 knocked off. Then again, they owe IR alot of money so expect them to get -17.

The Stockport situation exposes the loopholes in the Football Leagues rule book, which could work in our favour as an example for us to use. At least we still had a chance of staying up when we went into admin, so hardly trying to expoit an advantage. But the argument is that the football club didn't go into admin so shouldn't be punished. Anyway, lets just get a chance of playing next year before we cross that bridge.
OldNick Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 The players would as they would be free agents and get fees for signing on elsewhere.Pompey would be big time winners as their potential customer base will swell and a lot more of the fans who do not have the real predjudice against them may go.
St Mikie Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Just about every f***ing P***ey supporter, as they would dine out on that one for years unfortunately!
Fan The Flames Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Only the last team to be relegated to Div 1 and the last team to be relegated to the BS prem, as they would be reinstated to the higher divisions. Southampton will still exist in the BS prem and we would all just follow them.
eelpie Posted 15 May, 2009 Posted 15 May, 2009 Bournemouth They survived. They will be our local team

Hmmm, seriously now, I wonder how many of us would go 'down there'? I think that many would look elsewhere. In my case it would be Eastleigh and as to a 'big club'? Probably I would not be that bothered.
