Smirking_Saint Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 I don't know if they can do this or not (not really clued up on administration etc etc) but, with the news we have just had about the stadium..... is it possible that Aviva are standing firm about the mortgage on St Mary's and so are saying that they want a large amount paid up now or in the near future, if say for instance they are getting worried about our abilities to ever get out of league 1 and realistically pay back the debt ?? Is this possible ? Or do they have to get what they can get ?
lancelot link Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 If this is true I guarantee that the real buyer will walk away from the table - they're hardly going to want to rent the stadium off anyone else (and lose all the commercial rights of use of SMS)
kpturner Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 Think thats correct - preferred bidder status is simply that the Administrator believes this to be the best bid for cre4ditors and thus they get first dabs at seeking the agreement with creditors...however what I dont understand is this. We have now had it confirmed that no bidders are interested in SLH the company in Admin - Mr Crouch has told us that SFC is NOT in admin. Is SLH the debtor to Barclays or SFC , and is SLH the debtor to Aviva or SMS ltd? If someone buys sfc for say 5mil from the administrator, I assume they walk away debt free with teh 5mil going to teh SLH creditors (Barclays and Aviva) same as the stadium - If someone buys SMS from teh administrator for 7 mil they no longer have a debt (unless they borrowed the 7 mil) and once again the 7mil would gto to SLH to pay off creditors (Aviva who hhave first shout on teh stadium return?) Can someone confirm this is right or am I completely wrong?Somebody may be able to. It sounds plausible.....and do you think you should swap the "h" and the "e" on your keyboard? :-)
Pancake Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 1) That makes me nervous when the likes of Sainsbury's and LIDL are on the lookout of somewhere to build huge warehouses. Chains like these and Tesco are doing incredible business during this crisis and are leading employers where others are still reducing personnel. Why on earth would a company the size of Sainsbury waste money on buying a stadium only to knock it down and build a depot? There are currently hundred of square acres of empty warehouses in the south east that would prove a better and cheaper option.
saint_stevo Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 Southampton FC are on the brink of collapse as Fry insists that no offers have been made that will go through, and that talks have collapsed with 3 out of 4 interested parties terminating their talks to buy the Club. Fry has revealed that the only offer he has to settle is that of the sale of the Football Stadium which is at an advanced stage. A source has revealed that Fry thinks it may be game over for Southampton FC. "Unless someone comes in at the last minute which has been said for some weeks now, then this is the end of Southampton football club. It's a sad day and one that I dont even want to bare thinking about". Fry has stated that he has no more enquiries to continue with and that the Club faces collapse, which at this point is 75% likely at this moment, with only 1 of the parties left to reveal their hand. Source? Only the spelling (bear/bare), as well as the grammar in the last line leaves something to be desired, so I'm guessing it's not an official source? Specially if the council buy the stadium. It is in there interest to give us a reasonable price which keeps the city of southampton in football which in turn brings in a fair amount of business and feel good factor when the team is doing well. Anyone else that buys the stadium would be fools if they priced out the most regular income they have. SMS is not going to fill out with concerts every week so its again in there interest to strike a good deal with SFC for the use of the stadium. Give it to Ron Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 (edited) It's from 'RocketSwannie' on 606... can anyone clarify his sources? Has he got much right before??? No he hasnt will give you a copy of the thread the other day that was nearly 90% bull when I find it. I sincerely hope this is true to form. Here you are From 606 (rocketswanie who I believe has posted here before) 1. Fry is making money everyday that we are in admin so the "buyers" would need to pay a fee for his work too, fact not guess work 2. Option of concerts to make money have been wiped after residents within the area petitioned against it for noise. 3. The 2 bids recieved, thats right just 2 bids placed, have fallen way short of the valuation. 4. The highest offer recieved is £3.8m 5. The club actually fear that they will go under in days and not weeks! 6. Le Tiss has made an offer but it has lots of "if's" included which have put the offer out of the window 7. Fry was quoted as saying they can only hope that someone who has more money than most, comes in with an offer as it is likely that those who are making offers will not be able to put any money into the team or current squad meaning likely relegation to league 2 straight out as they wont have the resources to make the club stable for league 1. 8. Fry has a footballing friend who has shown an interest but is put off by the work All the above are true facts. Im not going to share how I know but trust me when I say my/your/our beloved club could be more likely to fold than to take part in any League next year, unless as we feared someone comes in with the offer we need to get this club off the floor in the next 24hours. I believe this to be correct. Edited 15 May, 2009 by Give it to Ron

Why buy a football stadium that has no team to play there? Are Eastliegh looking to move grounds? Well the council could buy the ground and someone (Crouch possibly) can re-form the football club. The Conference have already indicated they would accept a re-formed Saints, which would start, in effect with no debts. A relativly small outlay would be required to assemble a conference team and we'd only by 25 position worse off in the league ladder... Just a thought? Why buy a football stadium that has no team to play there? Are Eastliegh looking to move grounds? This may be very positive thinking but as an alternative to League one, a demoralising 10 or 25 point penalty, liabilities to contracted players who you might not even want and paying off football related debts which have no value to anyone why not let the club with its liabilities and penalties fold, instead Just buy the stadium at whatever the minimum price is. Then form a new club Southampton 2009, no debts, penalty points or unwanted players, get a place in the blue square (which of course is not the FL)where there will be a vacancy anyway. New club is now set to rise up the leagues in the same way as Exeter has done. Surely what you guys want is the stadium for a team in stripes, do any of you want the present squad minus a few good ones that will be sold off? So just buying the stadium doesn't necessarily mean no team. You could even be called The New Saints-Damn somebody's nicked that already
SET Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 Buying the ground for anything other than a sports team would be pointless, there is more than just southampton Football Club in the Stadium.
