Today's D-day, there will be

If as the echo is still showing the talking continues there must be a good reason. Either fry wants some more or the Consortium don't like the way the books are looking or the way the fence seems to be placed. None of us know exactly what they are discussing but if this is last chance saloon I hope they keep talking until a solution is reached.

I think the books are kinda looking "nil points" in a Eurovision type accent.

I know we are all desperately wanting something to happen that ensures the long term future of Saints, But, I have never seen so much speculative bull shine written as has appeared on here of late.

I now question the sanity of many posters on here

It's not the speculation I mind, it's the bloody "FACTS" about press conference, interested parties and impending news that turn out to be anything but.

True, it is totally unaccpetable behaviour and i'm sure nickh didn't mean to upset everyone and get them over excited.

Bad nickh, bad.

It wasnt a pop at you and I think you've clearly missed the point. It was a reply to the other guys reply to your quote because clearly no matter what you said he was going to think your original quote was true ie the messiah ??? Never mind..

Sorry, I think the irony was lost on you.

My original post about South Today clearly states I had made it up, so when I said "There is absolutley no question of the validity of the statement I made earlier regarding Matt Le Tissier and tonight's South Today" it was because I had made it up.

Never mind.....

I love Monty Python and the Holy Grail too*.

So for the likes of us non ITK. Is this amazing dream takeover superstar worth making a song and dance about? Or is the express purpose of this phantom to whistle in the wind while our beautiful game sees it's final sunset? Are there aspects of this thread worth reading?

You cats just chill and tell me on Sunday.

Maybe we'll have one of those TV talent shows to appoint a new manager! Why not, we've tried everything else!

Woo hoo! It was Friday today - I nearly forgot how important that is. Well the really good news is

That after an undisclosed number of Bullfrogs and Jaeger Bombs it seems that yours truly won the "If Carlsberg did Karaoke nights" competition at Rock Bottom this evening with a stunning version of Video Killed the Radio Star,

There was a late attempt by nickh to claim that I was in fact miming the chorus and had brought on a sub illegally, but no, I won fair and square and I intend to email Fry in the morning and see if he would accept my Aed 500 (96 quid) Drinks voucher as proof of funds to take over the club.

Seems to me that is a lot more than Pinnacle managed today, with luck I could get him to go to Rock Bottom on a Monday to cash it which being 25% off night means my 90 quid bid goes up in value.

Damn I'm on a roll - last week the Home Team, this week Karaoke, next week THE WORLD!

Meanwhile if anyone is interested I hear Fry is still talking

Damn it Phil, you give us a good irreverent post making me think 'right time to stop obsessing and get my arse down the pub' and then you go and give us that!?!?!? YOU'VE DOOMED ME TO STAYING GLUED TO THE COMPUTER UNTIL SOMEONE TELLS ME FRY HAS STOPPED TALKING!

Please can someone just tell me they've stopped talking and they'll be no news until Monday. I don't care whether it's true or not, I just want my life back.

Oh, I do hate 1st post conundrums like this.... ;)

I just googled GC and top hit was Gas chromatography which im guessing was incorrect but most likly options seem to be Golf Club and Game Cube.

No idea why either would support the saints but there we go ???

The Saturday morning hangover guess as to what is going on

I think there is probably a difference between bidding a price to buy the club and offering an amount of cash to buy the club.

eg From previous takeover threads EricofArabia and I found about 7.90 quid down the back of our sofas. We offer that as cash but say we'll pay back the remaining 8,999,992.10 from cash flow next week.

That goes back and forth to creditors who want it reversed so we go and look for a bigger sofa. (as an EXAMPLE)

Then when they agree the cash price and the amount to pay, the buyers probably say they need to make sure that all of the documentation regarding the actual debt and all the contracts of supply, sponsorship, employment etc don't have any nasty surprises

From what I have read on here it seems that the administrators probably dig out all that information but thanks to lawyers probably don't want to accept any liability in case they missed something so, caveat empor, the buyers have to go through the books themselves.

That bit is I believe a hungover person's precis of what this preffered bidder status is all about, and could take a couple of weeks before the money gets handed over

But the problem is that Fry needs to pay the wages so probably needs a non-refundable deposit

So you have to pump something like 3-400k into the club just to get to see if someone you never met has made a mistake and landed you with some unexpected liabilities. Not many lawyers or even company shareholders would let you do that without some form of safety net, and Fry probably doesn't have one.

So, maybe instead of doing the preferred bid part and instead of talks, maybe (sorry MAYBE) he let Pinnacle have a quick look to minimise the risk to their principles money.

It's one thing to "gamble" 8 or 9 million on turning around a business over a period of time, but another all together to gamble 3-400k that someone you've never met hasn't made a mistake and left you with a debt of another 5 million due in brown paper bags somewhere in a broom cupboard

Anyway, that was the general consensus in the pub last night, no idea if it helps understand why it could be good news that nothing happened.

Hope there's a test match to listen to today while F5 ing

Selective memory, there was about £900k on here in the first place and as I said ONLY in the event of imminent liquidation.

:smt043

£900,000 pledged on a thread on a fans messageboard doesn't = £900,000 pledged in real life. The fact the £900,000 reduced to £90,000 when it was made a "little" more official says it all. If push came to shove do you seriously expect the £91,000 to be coughed up? Is the the pledge contractually binding?

I do respect that you care, but let's be honest it was a ridiculous idea that would never work.

. . . in Southampton.

See what I did there?

I've seen clubs bought within an hour of dissolution during winding up. I've seen clubs bought for a pound. I've seen creditors accept 5p in the pound. Three separate events that didn't happen in Southampton. And I hope it never does.

I expect the Spitfire had its critics.

the question is though you all put your stuff up, but most of it is always wrong and doesnt actually ever happen....i really think you alll being taken on a ride by the people who give u these snippets...

Well that is where you are wrong I have on many occasions given the heads up on transfers about to happen and some other info. It is not my or friends fault that the whispers in the corridors of the club are saying something is about to happen. They are not the ones signing but close to hearing news first.A last minute hitches and problems only get heard after a time and then it is too late.

One of the biggest problems with information on Saints ownership is that those enthusiastic to inform and those anxious to receive forget that we are in shifting sands.

What may be perfectly good and honest information from sources can quickly be changed by events.
