Mine is an Octavia TDi, mainly due to doing @22K miles per year, mostly on 'A' class rural roads. Had it for just over 3 years and the only fault has been that the radio needed a recall for a software upgrade. Average mpg approaching 60 :D

My wife's car ia a Fabia with the 3-pot engine, though my son seems to think it's an MR2 when he's driving it

That's actually very respectable, Shane, and suggests you drive like a bit of a fanny.

i get 26 on my golf, but i guess it probably has something wrong with it, as it usually does.

the ants leaving added 1mpg to my economy tho.........

Cheapest place for a MOT btw? got one due.....

Pretty much standardised pricing nowadays, SS. Look around for an offer somewhere, anything below £50 is good.

haha im probably the worst driver for speeding out of anyone I know.

Speeding doesn't necessarily hammer fuel economy though, doing 55mph in 5th/6th is more economical than doing 30mph in 4th/5th. However, full bore starts, last minute braking and hard over-running on the downshift (to reduce turbo-lag) should get that mpg down to single figures 8)

Jeez, I can't believe how you people throw away money. If you can't do the non-engine bits yourself, at least go and source some tyres from a supplier and get them fitted by them. Getting everything sourced by the servicing garage will truly rip you off. Think before you act.

I would usually do it myself, my mum was using my car whilst I was abroad and so I had to pay for it to be done......

its a porsche cayenne. the service is £800, the tyres are £190 each and thats getting them from the backstreet garage, the dealers want £325 each, and i dread to think what the ****ing brakes are going to be, although reluctant to have them done outside the dealership

Well you people will buy these vehicles. I don't deny you the right to do so, but you can hardly whinge when it comes round to service time.

im not whinging. i was due to be buying a new car, and was therefore reluctant to spend any money on this one, as spoending this now means i really needto commit to keeping it for another 6 months, when i had set my heart on something else

Im saying there is always a dumb ass person who will come and look at the car and buy it anyway. I managed to sell an old car with an engine that cut out, broken stereo, broken elec windows and they didn't check them and no tred in tyres.

They rang back but I made sure contract was signed "Sold as seen"

oh yeah, i could sell it privately, but i got a good deal on trading it in for the new one, but thats not happening now
