Weston Super Saint Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Apart from the fact that none of his plans actually worked out, am I the only one who doesn't think that interview was too bad? Whether or not what he was actually saying was truthful or a load of boll**ks is debateable, but I thought the way he conducted himself was quite respectable. He was certainly honest in his views. All IMHO of course. Hi Marc.
Mr_Red Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Anyone think 'David Brent' when they saw this? That's all I thought throughout the entire piece! And photocopying isn't too far from papermerchanting - was The Office based on this guy? I'm not just into photocopiers... I'm a networking analyst, sales as well... (not direct quotes) He also seems to be a scout and a leader in youth football. How do those jobs come together?! Does he print our programmes?
Weston Super Saint Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 THAT BLOKE WAS ON MY FA LEVEL ONE COURSE! fyi To be fair he was a scout AND a coach at SMS, so it's understandable that he would need FA level 1
Tac-tics Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I just realised, sorry felt it had a hint of claim to fame, even though its an evenings worth of fame
spain saint Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 Am i the only one that ended up watching the reverse park for the first half? I did aswell and was hoping they mucked it up!
SaintBobby Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 To hypo...for posting this...I hate you! I have just pulled myself off the floor with two broken ribs and a hernia due to p*ssing myself laughing so much. The reporter doing the interview deserves a BAFTA for apparently keeping a straight face. Hardly needed to do a Paxman did he? Just stick a microphone in the bloke's face and watch him humiliate himself for the viewers' pleasure. Amongst the true highlights of a wonderful few minutes of television: "There's a press conference tomorrow. Everything at that stage will - to an extent - be revealed." "I was trained by Xerox, many years ago. I'm a business strategist." Mr Jackson then goes on to claim that he has a considerable list of contacts in football. Although the only one he actually names was - many years ago, he thinks - a scout for West Ham. And is now dead. Tantasingly, almost seductively, he opines that "ALL will be revealed". When immediately then asked who is in the constortium he says that "will never be answered". In one of the most horrific misunderstandings of the word "advertising" I have ever seen by any human being, he makes the extraordinary assertion: "Xerox is getting wonderful advertising here..." He then clarifies his skills and expertise - from his humble beginnings - for the grateful audience: "Truth is I've sold photocopiers...but network specialist is more my line. And, you know, business strategist, business development." Finally, to underscore his great knowledge of football - and to show his instinctive understanding of every clubs fanbase, he makes the very valid point: "Doesn't matter if you support Man Utd, you'd rather sit and watch Arsenal" Based on this insight alone, it is hard to understand why the Glazer brothers have not snapped him up on an eight figure salary. PURE COMEDY GOLD!

DaintyDave Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 Having asked around today, this guy was NEVER a scout for Saints or involved in the youth set up in any way. Which begs the question, what the hell was he doing watching young boys playing football on parks in Bournemouth pretending to be a Saints scout.
TNT Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 THAT BLOKE WAS ON MY FA LEVEL ONE COURSE! fyi Oh do tell more

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 Just saying, I have an 11 year old, and if some fat shifty bloke was watching his games pretending to be a scout from Southampton (or the next Chairman for that matter) when really that was nonsense, I would have the police called. This guy isn't an independent business strategist. He was declared bankrupt on September 15th 2004, he makes up titles so he can watch young boys play sport and conducts fantastic business deals entirely on forums and in local papers. Walter Mitty maybe, but there is something more sinister in my mind, especially the whole watching young boys while pretending to be a scout thing. Didn't realise he was a declared bankrupt. The more I watch this interview the more I think I have stumbled on the pilot episode for The Office!
saint1977 Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 Didn't realise he was a declared bankrupt. The more I watch this interview the more I think I have stumbled on the pilot episode for The Office! He reminds me of that 18 year old kid that tried to buy Aldershot before they went bust in the early 90s and appeared on Wogan. Anyone else remember that? Certainly puts the "Rank" in Xerox.
Viking Warrior Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Very interesting thesis dear watson, you could be on too something here Looking at the facts it would appear that the agents of other bidders are on here spitting venom in order to distablise a rivals bid!!!! But surely Sherlock we should concentrate on solving real blood letting crimes. this southampton forum is just too messy to untangle. If MJ is the only viable bid on the table which will see the survival of the club so be it. Dainty Dave thats some very serious allegations you are making "Just saying, I have an 11 year old, and if some fat shifty bloke was watching his games pretending to be a scout from Southampton (or the next Chairman for that matter) when really that was nonsense, I would have the police called." So are you going to call the police? after all you have made the comment on here

Interesting that some are showing emotional maturity levels similar to those exhibited by their supposed nemesis on here. Bet they threw stones as well when they were kids, bloody good job we're not being saved by some really evil people like a Banker, an MP or heaven forbid some Johnny Foreigner But it's ok we can change the rules of capitalism and reality and establsih the world's first "we'll find someone we can approve of next month" football club. Guys, opinions are one thing, but if you feel so strongly go away and find somebody else or go form AFC SFC 2009. But take the juvenile attempts at accusing somebody of being a paedophile back into whatever hole in the ground you have come from.

As much as I fear for us with MJ's apparent lack of 'plausibility' I think that you are very close to, if not over, the edge with this sort of statement. While MJ may well deserve all the p155 taking on here for past errors i believe that you are bang out of order in alluding to something which is reviled by the vast majority of society. Or, David, are you a woman scorned? Are you St David? Whoever you are you are certainly as low as what you are alleging MJ is here. Well spotted. This Dainty Dave needs a bit of Mod's attention I feel!
manji Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I have no idea whether the guy would be beneficial to this club but so far the only thing I can see him being guilty of is being crap at being interviewed.
Alain Perrin Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 "Some bloke on another thread said he called the police on him for watching from the bushes whilst his 11 year old played football." .... And that my friends is how rumours start. Completely unfounded, stupid, allegation. The post and the posts quoting it, including this one, should be removed.
InvictaSaint Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I know it's a loose analogy, but if you ever saw the new Poet Laureate interviewed you would struggle to comprehend how she ever got the position. However, appearances and interviews are one thing; it's the quality of the work you do that marks you out. If the MJ bid is successful, what we are all going to do? Sit around bemoaning the fact that we have a club run by local businessmen rather than a Sultan or a Sheikh? Or perhaps we may have to be grateful that SOMEBODY put in the effort to save us and allow us to even have a club?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 There's something of the Arthur Daily about him (perhaps he could borrow Rupert's cashmere coat) but if he can put a deal together and save the club then he deserves the respect and support of all fair minded Saints fans I'd say . It was wrong to slate Lowe just because he came from a relatively privileged background and it's equally wrong to attack this guy because he had to work for a living .
Saint in Paradise Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 How many fans will refuse to go now "because MJ is involved ?" Assuming that his people win of course. Suppose it will make a change from "not going while that RL is there." Well I just hope Saints are still alive and I would just love to be able to go.
miserableoldgit Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I don`t know MJ at all. My only "knowledge" of him is basically through this forum. I have no idea about the validity of any bid that he may be involved in but I am ****ed off with the pathetic attempts of a handful of newish posters on this forum that are enaged in a rather amatuer (at best) and nastily childish (at worst) campaign to discredit him and his involvement in any consortium. Go away. I will make up my own mind.

I have a horrible feeling that it will all fall through. We will wait and see.

Hopkins Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Love the way that just because we only know his name then it is fact that he is going to be in full charge of the club if his bid is accepted. The idea that he is a go between and actually has very little to do with the bid has never been thought off. On a lighter note, having just seen his face for the first time, I'm pretty certain I watched the league cup final last year sat behind him, Andrew Davies and Adam Hammil. He was talking to them about going to America for the summer and joined in my drunken theres only one Andrew Davies chants.
SaintRichmond Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I have never posted anything about Marc Jackson before prefering to reserve judgement untill I really knew what he was all about. However having just viewed this interview for the first time I have to say my half full glass is now well and truely empty. Sorry Marc you are not the man for SFC. Unfortunately .... we will end up with him IMHO ....
Alain Perrin Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Totally agree! There have been a few posters on here recently with different agendas. To be honest I can't think of any. Regards, Alain
Badger Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 And apparantly he has many contacts, and in from what i gather is pretty amazing at everything. Including in America, and the middle east. Wasn't it one of these such invisible friends that set in motion a mass hysteria two years ago ? Having said that I'd accept a MJ cosortium lead club over no club at all if push comes to shove.
bridge too far Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Earlier it was stated that MJ was declared bankrupt in 2004. Can he, therefore, be a director of a limited company? No agenda behind this question - just curiosity.
OldNick Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Has anyone got a link of http://www.thedaySMSandclubwasliquidated so we can put it up on Youtube for everybody to laugh at. It will be a real good one you'll all enjoy.

No agenda behind this question - just curiosity. Has there been any suggestion that he is going to be? Surely he is just a go-between/frontman for the people who hopefully have funds. Maybe he is doing it because he is a "Lifelongsaint" and he might earn a few bob if it goes through. To quote David Brent maybe he is a "facilitator"!

I think some have suggested that he might want some sort of role with the club as a 'reward' for being a facilitator. I can't see that being a technical role somehow, so that leaves a commercial role that could include a directorship.
hypochondriac Posted 23 May, 2009 Author Posted 23 May, 2009 Come on guys. This interview is very funny and he comes across as highly incompetent. If he manages to pull this off though then fair play. Lets not have a go at the bloke if he saves the club. Oh and TNT clearly has an agenda.

LostBoys Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 For a minute I thought this was a new interview but it is the Bournemouth fiasco. I do not think he should be judged on his TV interview skills because he has none but he should be judged on the essence of what he says and then achieves. The net result is manure. I do not have an agenda but just want an end to this farce with money in the club. This joker cannot pull this off. Wait for the let down next week and he can crawl back into his pond having had his 5 minutes of Echo and TV publicity.

You can't come out with stuff like that without having proof, people saying crap like that can really damage peoples lives and it's things being said like this that stop people from becoming teachers and coaches in the first place. Just because he watches a game of football in which young kids are playing does not make anything sinister. When i was 18 i used to coach under 6's, is that sinister ?? What you have said is f*cking pathetic. And could be seriously damaging. If you accuse others of this from simply watching games of football i think you need to seriously look at yourself mate.
Viking Warrior Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Re Dainty Daves comments Is it not about time the mods removed this offending allegation or at least close this thread. To suggest Marc is a paedophile is nothing short of scandalous

OldNick Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 There are some dirty tricks being played out on here IMO. It is interesting that the 2 nastiest and most negative of psoters against MJ are new to the forum. Ther owners of this site need to have a look IMO
Wiltshire Saint Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I'm not sure peadophiles find watching football sexually arousing. Why would they? Do straight men get aroused watching womens football? I don't, although I probably knocked a few out to "Bend it like beckham". Do straight men get sexually aroused when watching men's football? I don't think they do. So why would watching youth football be any different. If I were a paedophile football matches would be well down on my list of places to go for sexual gratification. I think this man is NOT a paedophile, though I have no real evidence for or against. He could be. But probably isn't.

You may like to point out two posters, but i have read on here a shedload of posters disturbed about his presence in this administration saga. I still do not understand why this paedo accusation has not been removed.
