Frank's cousin Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Warp Factor 2, Mr Strachan Aye but Capn I hinna enough in the matter/anti matter reaction assembly. Stop talking incomprehensible codswallop Starchan and go eat your yogurt.... Science officer Woodward.. yes capt? Tell me about the stapleford nebula, anything new on the horizon? Has the delgado docked with the mothership yet? (not to be continued)
Stanley Saint Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I knew we shouldn't have sung that 'oi can't read and oi can't write' song back in the '80s. Lowe must have heard it and had us all down for rustics.
John Smith Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I have no reason to doubt this' date=' and as I have said many times before, I doubt very much I would ever get on or like this man (let alone his UKIP 'Kleinburgerlichkeit' little englander mentality), however, I do differentiate his chararter flaws from what he was hoping to or trying to achive with Saints - there were some good ideas, some achievements and also one hell of a lot of failures or poorly timed or executed ideas. For me it is a constant source of frustration that often good ideas and approaches are not 's given the time of day by many fans, media and the like because Lowe has constantly alienated these stakeholders by his gaffs and attitude... It becaomes a painful and thankless task to try and point out value in ideas and approaches against a backdrop of 'issues' of Lowes own making.[/quote'] I would agree with you on this FC. And whether he said it or not, would not change my view of the man. It was the way he did business and not speak to the man on the street, that I judge him on. And, IF we were in the Champions league this season and fighting for Premiership honours, he could call me a poopey supporter and I wouldn't care. thanks for posting it though FF, it is easy reading in the present climate and worth the post. I met him at St Mary's when doing a corporate day and he was very polite, the first thing he did was thank me for being there. We spoke about the days game and he went on to say the club was in financial difficulty. And this is the other side of him (Lowe), as even if he thought we were peasants, I would fully expect him to treat us decently, as any professional should do, in an environment that promotes the club. It doesn't detract from the idea that he was actually thinking, when he had this conversation with you - "this catering is superb! Must remember to limit the amount dished out to these peasants I'm talking to, tripe will suffice." At the end of the day, I reckon the story is probably true, but he who said the guy shouted "watch out Lowe you c**t" probably is closer to the mark and Lowe responded with what is stated above. And for that, I hold no grudge with Lowe about this, having dealt with the French for many years, insulting them is a past-time, but I enjoy their company and love visiting Southern and South West France whenever I can, but wouldn't speak to them badly unless they totally insulted me first.
saintstr1 Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I could well believe this to be true of RL and I hate the sight of him BUT, I am sure this would have been a tongue in cheek throw away comment from him. Has nobody got any real news today ?
70's Mike Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Frankly i do not give a toss "What Lowe thinks of Us" . i just pray he is history
St_Guido Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 After further discussion Lowe said "get back to those peasants in Southampton" There is absolutely NO way Lowe would ever have said anything like this. Its laughable frankly, whatever one's view of the man is.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I have no reason to not believe FF, but I don't believe his source. Just can't see that happening myself.
Carlos Fandango Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 why So what if Lowe did say this anyway, it hardly changes anything. It amazes me how the people who were so determined to get Lowe out of our club just can't let go. Is it surprising he thinks we are a bunch of nobs! It's all silly name calling on both sides, get over it and look to the future Saints fans.
Junior Mullet Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Chortle, Lowe Urban Myth Number 7 - I hope it was copied accurately from the Ugly! Here's another one, only genuine: Restaurant in central Southampton just after the EGM in 2006. After being repeatedly disturbed during his meal by "B", "A" tells him to "p!ss off and go finish your meal and leave us to finish ours". Once "B" is out of earshot "A" continues... "the bloke's a complete w*nker". Who are "A" and "B"? Bonus point if you can guess the restaurant ;-) A = Tony Blair B = Gordon Brown Restaurant - Caspian kebab, Bedford Place
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 A = Tony Blair B = Gordon Brown Restaurant - Caspian kebab, Bedford Place Love the cheesy chips from there...
Dark Munster Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 This morning I recieved this e mail from someone not prone to gossip and hitherto quite open minded about Lowe. I make no comment other than many of you may not believe the story - sadly I do.This is the e mail - Speaking to an old friend last night. His neighbour related an incident that happened quite recently. The neighbours son was in London when someone barged past him without apology. He turned round and realised it was Lowe and called him by name. Lowe looked round in shock and said "how do you know who I am?" the neighbours son explained he was from Southampton. After further discussion Lowe said "get back to those peasants in Southampton" Thought you might like the story. You can put it up on TSW if you like. It confirms what you have said before about Lowe. I wonder if the "After further discussion" went something like this Neighbour's son: "Oi, Lowe" Lowe " Yes?" Neighbour's son: "You ****ing ****! You've ****ed our club, you *****! You mother****ing piece of ****!" Lowe: "Thank you. Now go back to those peasants in Southampton"
eelpie Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Keep 'em coming. The more stories about the big bad ogre the more it sates my anger, lol
Strangely Brown Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Must admit' date=' I would quite like to meet him one day, talk openly and frankly about his decions and try and understand why he was always so bullish about his approaches when going against the grain of the established approach - why? well because its so easy to jump on a bandwagon, and I have spent too much time trying to understand the pros as well as teh cons of some of his ideas - Its a classic case though of how we would be far more forgiving of his 'eccentricities' had we footballing success, than the mire of the last 4 years.[/quote'] Would love to sit down with Lowe, Wile and Crouch and ask; 11 managers, 4 Boards, 3 Plc Chairmen, 3 Football Club Chairmen, 109 Players, 20 Coaches, 21 Directors and 2 Statues of Ted Bates in the past 5 seasons, where did it all go wrong chaps?

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Newsflash....... Southampton fans object to being called 'peasants' by Rupert Lowe .
70's Mike Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Would love to sit down with Lowe, Wile and Crouch and ask; 11 managers, 4 Boards, 3 Plc Chairmen, 3 Football Club Chairmen, 109 Players, 20 Coaches, 21 Directors and 2 Statues of Ted Bates in the past 5 seasons, where did it all go wrong chaps? OBVIOUSLY TO MUCH WORK for 3 men. as well as organizing seats in directors box for "friends"
sadoldgit Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I met him at St Mary's when doing a corporate day and he was very polite, the first thing he did was thank me for being there. We spoke about the days game and he went on to say the club was in financial difficulty. I met Lowe very briefly after a Great Escape game. He came to the pub to join Ted Bates in addressing a bunch of us internet fans who were having a post match gathering. He was very polite and pleasant. He spoke to me first and seemed at home with all of us "peasants". I wish I could say he barged past me and was rude - maybe next time...
Mole Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 I met Lowe very briefly. He was very polite and pleasant. He spoke to me first. It must've been a dream come true:smt057
Mowgli Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Be fair - we hadn't had an anti Lowe thread for at least 36 hours. Fair enough. Credit where credit is due ;~)
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 May, 2009 Author Posted 11 May, 2009 Newsflash....... Southampton fans object to being called 'peasants' by Rupert Lowe . Cracking
Frank's cousin Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Cracking NO disrespect but with the Woodward connection the one on the right looks uncannily like Martin Johnson - i think we should be told!
Frank's cousin Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 2 Statues of Ted Bates in the past 5 seasons, where did it all go wrong chaps? The answer is right there - the most important factor in the whole saga dont you think? ;-)
sadoldgit Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 It must've been a dream come true:smt057 For him or me?....If he had looked like Scarlet Johansen it would have been for me!
wightman35 Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Why the fuss about being called a peasant? Useful people who toil away tilling the soil, caring for livestock and paying their rent, they are not renowned for amassing huge debts. Much better than being called "failed chairman" or "banker"(spelling?) in my opinion.
martel Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Must admit' date=' I would quite like to meet him one day, talk openly and frankly about his decions and try and understand why he was always so bullish about his approaches when going against the grain of the established approach - why? well because its so easy to jump on a bandwagon, and I have spent too much time trying to understand the pros as well as teh cons of some of his ideas - Its a classic case though of how we would be far more forgiving of his 'eccentricities' had we footballing success, than the mire of the last 4 years.[/quote'] Well you could try Frank, however, take it from someone who has at an AGM, their are two opinions in Lowes world. "His and the wrong one"

CB Fry Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Does Rupert do irony? Would he be using the expression tongue in cheek? You have heard the Star Trek speech?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 May, 2009 Author Posted 11 May, 2009 You have heard the Star Trek speech? No - ?
CB Fry Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 No - ? I thought you were the bloody club historian. "The shields are up and the Klingons are shooting at us and every time they land a punch they are sapping our power" Quite a famous quote in Lowe's pantheon, I'd say. Accuse him of what you like but not sure not having something of a sense of humour/the ridiculous could be one of them, especially when laughing at some pikey Saints fan, which frankly is the source of a hell of a lot of humour on this forum. And quite right too, if you've ever read the contributions from our blessed yoof.
Cowesboy Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 Go to page 6 of this link, you'll find it very interesting. It seems as though Rupert has been having trouble down on his farm. http://www.cmis.cotswold.gov.uk/CMISWebPublic/Binary.ashx?Document=17854
Cowesboy Posted 11 May, 2009 Posted 11 May, 2009 In my previous post I said go to page 6 in error, It should have read page 5.
LestWeForget Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 In my previous post I said go to page 6 in error, It should have read page 5. 6 is good ... nice to have Rupert's home address and phone number.... no? LOL

Singapore Saint Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 LOL, Duncan. I am sure that Rupert does not think that about ALL of us. Just SOME of us. The FRINGE.

Amazingly we've had the same charlady all these years!
Eastcowzer Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 LOL, Duncan. I am sure that Rupert does not think that about ALL of us. Just SOME of us. You mean just 99.9% of us
jonah Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 A = Tony Blair B = Gordon Brown Restaurant - Caspian kebab, Bedford Place 0 points. A very disappointing effort, nearly as poor as their doners.
Charlie Wayman Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 This morning I recieved this e mail from someone not prone to gossip and hitherto quite open minded about Lowe. You make yourself look like an oversize Rrse'ole.
Frank's cousin Posted 12 May, 2009 Posted 12 May, 2009 Well you could try Frank, however, take it from someone who has at an AGM, their are two opinions in Lowes world. "His and the wrong one" Uhm , not sure the environment of a heated AGM is going to be the best one for digging deep. You never get the real person when defences are already up to face the obvious hostility. I can only assume he thrives on that open hostility towards him, in his mind it probably provides the challenge and motivation to prove himself right. I just think it would be great to have one-to one interviews with all three, no hostilty just questions designed to try and understand the motivations and decision making process and then when pubblished at least we would have a 'horse's mouth' version of events, rather than the gossip and rumour - as funny as it can be!
