Defences tend to be slower and have less forsight. But they know that, and will sit back and be prepared to be dazzled by pretty Saints passing in midfield. If no changes to squad or manager are made, I predict by start of December Saints will still be in the relegation zone having not scored many and having leaked goals badly at corners, set pieces and long ball punts forward.

Wilko Posted 10 May, 2009 Posted 10 May, 2009 I reported on Yeovil Town v Colchester United last weekend. The football quality was actually pretty good. There wasn't a lot of hoof and hope and the standard of player was decent enough. I was particularly impressed by Mark Yeates.

DirkThunder Posted 10 May, 2009 Posted 10 May, 2009 I disagree with a few of the posts here - seen a fair bit of Div 1 this year and watched some good football played by most teams. Millwall are one of the better passing teams but the play off semi final was not the best advert for thier side! There are some well organised teams who operate to the limit of tehir ability on their limited budgets. Championship is fair more rough and tumble in my opinion.

Also what team makeup do you need to win it? For the 1st few weeks it will be like watching school Kidd's in the park. 22 players and one ref all swarming around the ball, And don't go looking for silky skills, They have been snapped up by higher leagues,

A competant goalie, (I think we can tick that one),A bl**dy great back 4,all 6ft 3" plus,a big hard bast**d in front of them,a 6ft 6" battering ram centre forward and the kids filling the other four places playing their pretty football. as i see it to, yes there is football played in div 3 but in the right areas , you get it forward win the second ball and play in the opposition half. not a lot of going sideways
krissyboy31 Posted 10 May, 2009 Posted 10 May, 2009 The teams promoted to CCC in recent years have played some good football, Sc unthorpe and Southend we're good enough to stay up, the likes of Blackpool and Doncaster have been but all played pretty good football.

Scuny and Southend are back in div3 and Blackpool were very physical at sms this season, we could not handle the lump up front

Against a team like Saints the opposition will generally try to frustrate any passing game and bring your own fans down on your teams back. With a well disciplined and talented squad you can rise above it, ala Leicester, but if you show any kind of weakness then they will seize on it and drag you down to their level. This isn't a pretty sight, and it's the sort of game when poor sides (on paper) will pull off a result against the 'big' teams like Forest or Southampton.
