Saint_Jonny Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 So, anyone going to see this? Ill hopefully head down to beastleigh tonight and give it a watch (he says casually trying to hide the nerdy excitement that has been there for over a year). Just gotta try and convince one or two mates that watching a star trek film isnt like admitting youve never spoken to a real girl. Trek has always been a guilty pleasure to me, something you wouldnt DARE admit to a prospective misses or current bit of stuff, or to anyone in particular tbh. God its like telling you lot im coming out! (im not) Quite frankly, I cant wait! Think it looks really good! Anyone else going to feed there guilty pleasure and go at watch the rebooted trek? St Landrew Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Give a us review in the Arts forum afterwards. I hear that the new film is not only a good one for one of the series, it's supposedly a good film outright.
Sheaf Saint Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 Yep, I want to go and see it, but I have so far failed miserably to convince my girlfriend to come with me! Trailers look good and it has got some good reviews. I can't wait to see Simon Pegg as Scotty - that must have been his absloute dream role. Jillyanne Posted 8 May, 2009 Share Posted 8 May, 2009 James King the Radio One reviewer gave it 5 stars (not sure I would trust him tbh) he did day the graphics and special effects were amazing and rivalled that of the recent Star Wars films. Saint_Jonny Posted 9 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 May, 2009 Yea saw it last night. You watch the opening scene, which is quite moving, and it never peters out at all. Fantastic film from start to finish, and you dont have to be a trekkie to appreciate it (I say that as my Trek' feering mates all came out with big smiles on there faces). sperm_john Posted 9 May, 2009 Share Posted 9 May, 2009 Went with my girlfriend last night who found some of the time space/alternate dimension stuff a bit confusing but she still enjoyed it as did I (they didn't over kill the confusing stuff like previous films or in the series which was good) ... loved Leonard Nimoy making an appearance and loved how they kept the traditional 'space...the final frontier' right to the very end, making everyone wait. They have tried to make Star Trek main stream and not geeky and I liked that because I felt like it was a film for everyone and not just people who had seen the shows on tv. Chris Pine the youngish lad who plays the young James T Kirk put in an amazing performance and made the film for me, all in all id recommend you go and watch this film even if your not a fan of star trek, its a good film trekky or not! (the opening scene is worth going to see the film for alone ...girlfriend was even emotional over star trek lol)
