Best of luck to Wade Elliot and Burnley in the play offs.

Wade is Saints fan through and through and was rejected in the academy for being too short, now he's a good chance of being a prem player.

Good luck

Did his best to wind up our players when we played them at St Mary's the other week. He had a go at Gillett, Wotton and McGoldrick. Maybe though, he was just telling them as a fan, that their performances aren't up to playing for Saints.

Best of luck to him, I think Burnley play the best football from the playoff sides. I personally would hate to see Preston promoted.

Want Burnley to get promoted as half my family is from there. I had a 50:50 choice of supporting either Saints or Burnley as a child and got stuck with this lot. :|

I wouldn't mind Preston NE getting to the Premiership. They've been trying so bloody hard for years, and just missing out, that I couldn't deny them their day in the sun. I like triers and underdogs. But then I don't care that much either. Burnley also.

Wade has been a good player for a few years now after signing from B'Mouth. This was just the type of player Saints should have been signing. Unfortunately our scouts/coaches don't seem to have any understanding/knowledge of English footballers in the lower leagues and we've ended up with Plymouth and Millwall reserve rejects instead.

I hope Burnley beat Reading and their plastic fans and go up.

He was bloody good at 8 years old in the playground at Fryern Juniors!

I have been played a couple of games with Wade while he was at Bashley and Bourmemouth and is a quality player and is a nice bloke. Also sat with him at Villa park at the semi final against Watford. He said then he would have loved to have come to Saints, but dont think we have much chanc eof that now. So fair play to him, premiership hopefully for Wade

God, if that was so, he'd be a legend in my eyes.

Imagine being good enough to play against our players, and then tear a strip off for putting the club into the situation they're in.

What a pointless thread. Why not start one about Sam Vokes getting promoted or how about Wayne Bridge potentially playing in Europa League next season?????

As for who goes up I just hope it isn't Preston and that ****y **** Sean St Ledger!!!!!

Fair play to him, always thought he looked quite good at B'mouth and now burnley he looks even better.

My hope is burnley to go up. Hope reading don't go up as one of my mates is reading and he is putting some money into some advertising thing to try and get saints fans to go and watch them if they go up. Little pr!ck.

So yes, that what i hope

Changing player - well done to Michael Poke, in goal for Torquay Utd.tonight at Histon. He's played in both semi -final legs and, hopefully will play at Wembley. However, he's replaced Scott Bevan who's been injured recently. An interesting selection poser for the manager.

I once had a drink with Wade Elliot's uncle in the Osborne, Shirley - FACT. Nice bloke. Always rated Wade. A few years ago Bournemouth had a good side with him, Stock and Carl Fletcher in midfield.

My brother used to play in the same team as him at Barton Pevril.

Apparently, the team talk every game was "pass the ball to Wade"

My son was in the same team too at Barton Peveril

Used to come up against Wade Elliot in the tyro league. He was the stand out player in an average Mansbridge side - and he was playing a year above his age group as well.

He was a good player, but a ****y little gobby one as well!!! We had a vey similar player in our team and they clashed EVERY time we played them.

Cracking goal, started the move in his own half to, decent player.

Sadly I'm working so only listening...

Well done Wade Elliott!

Doesn't say a lot for our Academy that we rejected him.

A lot ahead of him at that time. Remember, he had to drop down to Southern League level with Bashley before being given a chance at Bournemouth. Good player though and maybe we should have signed him at the time Burnley did but under our management over the last few seasons, he probably wouldn't have become the player he seems to have under Owen Coyle.

well done Burnley, well done Wade, enjoy your time in the top division.

I hope he gets his chance. Dean Windass hardly got a look in this season (although he is about 103 years old).

Good luck to him. "Too short"? Is that still trotted out by the so-called talent spotters?

Maybe he'll be back one day if we ever get back to being a united club.

Dribbled it from his half, almost on his own 18 yard box, passed it into Thompson I believe who got tackled, came back to him and hit it first time from about 25 yards, beautiful finish.

He was rejected for being too short?

Take another look at the 'Road to Amarillo' video - Simon Gillett is at the back wearing a Bolton shirt

Glad that Burnley went through in the end, they deserve it after the impressive cup run they had this season. I'll definately be rooting for them next season in the Prem, mainly because of Wade Elliot and Owen Coyle (who used to manager my second team) but also because they dumped Reading out of the play-offs! :D

And well done to Wade Elliot for proving our short sightedness wrong.

I think both Brian Howard and Wade Elliott were on free transfers the summer we got relegated from the Premier League

both Saints fans and both good players - I had no idea at the time why we didn't try to sign them both

could also have signed Frank Simek on a free as well

Actually, if memory serves me correctly it was Alan Ball himself who said Wade was too short, tho Wade didnt tell me that himself. Tbf, I've not actually spoken to Wade since going to an Oasis concert with him about 12 years ago!

yeah well done to him but i dont think they desevrve to go up. sheffield finished 4 or 5 points above them over the 46 games previous so they deserve to go up. they should scrap the play offs

Just shows what you can achieve with the right manager' date=' little money and a close knit club[/quote']

Exactly!!! I was rooting for Burnley for exactly those reasons - have to say Owen Coyle seems a top bloke too from the pre-match stuff I saw (and did you see that Matty-like goal he scored for their reserves?!).

Not trying to turn this into an off-topic thread, but I do think Coyle (and Alan Irvine at PNE) showed what can be achieved with sensible budgets and focussed, hard working, organised track-suit managers with good league experience (erm, a bit like Nigel Pearson).

Anwway, well done Burnley, I'll be rooting for them in the Prem next year.

Would ruin the promotion hunt IMO.

If it was only uno, dos and tres who went up, there'd be no insentive for the teams in midtable during the last say 15 games of the season. With the play-offs, there can be upwards of 10 teams chasing promotion going into the last 4 or 5 games.

Will be rooting for the Clarets next season, if only because I'm half Burnish, half Scummer.
