If someone can be arsed to trawl through the tedious list of ridiculous, seemingly infinite, HCDAJFUs that is going to appear on here over the summer, I will happily stick it on the main post.

Any volunteers, please PM me. Your reward will be a pair of box tickets to AFC Southampton's first home game next season against Chipping Norton Athletic. Approx. value £2.36. You will also receive a free return trip in the SWF private jet, to a European destination of your choice.

P.S. I was the person who said YCDAJFU on the Forum match thread.

As I have done this the last few windows I'm more than happy to oblige again.

check your PM, I look forward to my tickets.

IFILL ?? the same that was at us ?? I felt he was a food player ?? I'd have him back no sweat.

You're thinking of Adam Hammill.

And no, the Ifil here was Paul Ifil, much younger, only 1 'l' and now at Colchester.

Oi Arizona - you have missed my HCDAJFU: Jai Reason (released by Ipswich Town) as I stated earlier on this thread.

I would like the following to be added to the HCDAJFU list:

Jon Main and/or Danny Kedwell - AFC Wimbledon

Manny Williams - Woking

Craig Rand - Weston-super-Mare

It's been claimed that we (Forest) are currently negotiating a £1 million deal for both McGoldrick and Rasiak. What are your thoughts on them?

You're welcome to Rasiak, McGoldrick I would like to keep. Could be a good player for us in League 1, probably not so good for you lot in the CCC. But he would work well with Earnshaw to do all the work for him up front, even though he couldn't finish a sandwich.

Darren Purse just released by Cardiff.

Would have been good when we first wanted him after relegation, but signed Hajto instead.Has he not been injured a lot in the last two seasons ? If injury free could be a good signing for L1.

£1 mill for both of them - jeez talk about a steal...... But I guess we are going to sell players for peanuts this summer sadly : /

I thought he turned us down to go to Cardiff instead? 123 games for them in 4 yrs, will probably find another championship club i'd imagine.

..but who would be negotiating this for SFC? If Fry then we can't be close to having a wealthy buyer.......and if not Fry, then who? More likely a bid may have been put in and is on hold until we resolve admin.

that a good shout. He's had a poor season for Cardiff and I think he fell our of favour in the end. He would be ideal fo us especially if Saeijs doesn't sign (and even if he does). A ball winner offering strength and height. Exactly what we miss when we have Lancashire and Perry in the side.

Saeijs' club Roda JC managed to beat Feyenoord today and avoid direct relegation. They'll know have to keep themselves up through a series of playoffs. Fingers crossed they don't succeed.

That's probably about the amount they could buy out for.

Rasiak and McG might have stability clauses in their contracts.

Rasiak has a year so 52x10K(ish) McG 3 year contract in September 2008,so 2 years left but he's been here at least 3 years so buy out would be 115(or so)x

whatever he earns say 3K/wk = 445K, so a million for the pair sounds about right.

No, I'd say that's about right.

I wouldn't pay much more than £500k for a striker who played practically every minute of every CCC game and still managed less than 10 goals from open play.

Rasiak may be proven, and I'd love to keep him, but I can't see us getting more than £500k for a 30 year old who has only managed about 15 goals in the last 2 years.

It still astonishes me that people think we'll get millions for a load of sh*t players who got us relegated from CCC. People were posting lists of the transfer fees we could expect a while back adding up to over £10m.

Personally I'd let 75% of the squad go for £1 if it meant they'd f**k off and weren't hogging the wage bill for next season.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Personally, I'd much rather sign Dexter Blackstock than either (or both) of those two, but I wouldn't be dissapointed if we signed them either.

Burger: maybe future fees for players forms part of the various bids being discussed?

Rasiak i don't particularly want back but DMG could be a very good player for us next season. Taking it as read that we will still be alive. Then with a more experienced side we will see him do better in the CCC.

Some people on here really irratate me. McGoldrick at 21 in his first full season in properly the poorest Saints team in 50 years scored 13 goals. I have to admit his attitude at the beginning of the season wasn't great, but the lad has alot of talent and will get better, and if we sell him for peanuts, it will come back to haunt us. Take a look at K.Jones at the same age, alot of fans would have taken 500k for him the season before we sold him. Rasiak on the other hand has failed at the top level. The Rasiak I remember couldn't run, tackle and wasn't particularily good in the air, but had a nack of scoring a few goals in a much better Saints team. I personnally believe that MCG will, if we can keep him hit 20+ next year in div 1.

Can I just ask an incredibly dumb question?

When does the transfer window actually open/close?

I've searched on the Football League site, the Fa site, FIFA site and am ****ed off at no straightforward answer. Wikipedia said July 1st.

Now stable clubs can do a gentlemens' agreement beforehand and sort out the paperwork on the due date. But this is not where Saints are.

If we can pay wages in May and June, will we then see some sales? For real bankable money.

It does seem to be complete outward transfer inertia ATM.

Sadly fans who reckon he might be good in a few years don't determine transfer values. I'm sure he could be a decent player in a few years, but watching him this season you can't honnestly say he was anything that special.

14 goals is respectable enough, but when you break it down...

2 goals in the League Cup against Exeter

1 goal was infact Lallana's

3 of them (including one against Exeter) were penalties.

That leaves 9 goals from open play in some 45 full league games. A strike rate of 1 in 5 will not have CCC managers creaming themselves. Turning 22 in November, he's not all that young either.

I just want to reiterate here, I'm not trying to slag the guy off and I hope we keep him, but £500k really is all I'd expect if a bid came in.

For one how did he play every minute of every game? considering for one he started on the bench against sheffield utd away... and he has came off at least 3 or 4 times, this consiquently proving you wrong

why are saints fans on here so keen to knock our own players?

Watford away was enough to convince me he could be a very good player for us

I think Forrest will be getting the better of the deal if that is true. I imagine there would be a sell on % regarding DMG.

The one im most ummming and rrrrring about is Lloyd James, could be a very good buy for absolute peanuts.

No we will be getting the better end of the deal because it's players we don't forcibly need and a million £ which we definitely do need.If someone gives us money for Rasiak it will avoid us giving him away for nothing. All players sold at the moment for whatever fee is good good news. They all let us down, clear them out if money is offered for them.

Pleased to see Skacel out of the door, despite him being a consistent player - consistently lazy - and that some other exits were inevitable. A squad that wasn't good enough to stay in the CCFC is not likely to be good enough for promotion from L1, so changes are needed. But there must be some advantage in most of the team having played together for 12 months, so hopefully the core of the first choice first team can be retained.

Wicked, I made the HCDAJFU list. This is no doubt the greatest thrill of my footballing career... well, since Thursday.

I'm waiting for a text to confirm the loan deal though, as I believe my registration is currently held by Southampton Internet FC, bottom of teh Sholing Sunday League Div 4. At least I don't need international clearance this time... ;)

Are there any up and coming lads in the far east that could sell a few shirts and get us decent TV rights deal?

I know we aren't ManU but English football is massive over there and League 1 must be getting fairly close to their level.

They all count mate, doesn't matter if it's a 45-yard rocket against Liverpool, or a 1-yard tap-in against the Fox & Hounds, it's still a goal, so 14 goals this season

Posted

He hardly had the service and amount of chances someone like Ebanks-Blake had did he? He is playing for a relegated side and this is a major factor. Also Mcgoldrick for alot of the season played a deeper role and sometimes out wide so was hardly a striker for all 45 games.

Posted

Well yeah, except Lallana's. :-s

It is naive to think that a manager assessing the attributes of a player is going to overlook things like whether some goals are penalites. I repeat, I'm not knocking the guy. I hope we keep him, this is just my explanation as to why we might not get much more than £500k.

124 shots on target this season. Ebanks Blake had 90, so did Scotland, McCormack 94, Doyle 70, so it's not like DMG was without chances. Infact only Gomes at Swansea (130) has had more efforts on target in the whole CCC.

Posted

I believe the problem this season was the fact that we were always struggling as a team to get some points. DMG has often worked back and helped clear our box. With a little more experienced help I feel he would have taken more of his chances. Next season he could do a lot better if he has someone to help him up front and a midfield that is actually worth calling just that.

Well not according to the OS at the time;).

Yes, you are right he did,and also agree he'll still find a club at CCC level.
