ottery st mary Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 If Saints survive...Sure they will...I strongly suggest we get Matt Gill in from Exeter...Out of contract and not on big wages....Can we afford anything.....But looking for new contract..us or Exeter....Come to us Matt. Very strong tenacious, fit and very mobile midfield player. Would be very very good for The mighty Saints.

capitalsaint Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Kevin Phillips ? Would certainly score goals but it won't happen for two reasons;we can't afford his wages and he probably remembers the vitriolic abuse dished out to him by Saints fans ever since he left. I think you'll find that the abuse Phillips received was only because he slated us in his first interview after he left. He said he should never have joined us and that it felt wrong from the start. He didn't thank the fans, even though we idolized him, and said he was glad to have left. He deserves any abuse he gets, criticize the club all you want but to not even thank the fans was disgraceful.

Over land and sea Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 The list in the opening post is not quite right 13 is Tommy Forecast and 28 is Bart Bialkowski The following are missing from the list 32 Andrej Pernecky 34 Jamie White 36 Michael Byrne 40 Anthony Pulis 41 Zoltan Liptak 43 Lee Molyneux 44. Ben Reeves 45. Callum McNish
Window Cleaner Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Jim Gannon. Strange that, being made redundant, means they can't appoint a manager for the next xxx years doesn't it. If you make someone redundant you can't offer the same role to someone else.Perhaps the BBC made a terminalogical inexactitude.
Ludwig Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 John Oster, Paul Ifill and Carl Fletcher released by Crystal Palace today. Each and every one of them could probably do a good job for us next season, might not demand huge wages either.
sotonswan Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Minor Dyer update. I know I'm one dimensional, but I'm happy with that I think it is odds-on he will return to Southampton. Swans are attempting to sign Anderson from Liverpool (on loan at Forest) and are in the process of signing another out of contract winger from the Scottish leagues (a happy hunting ground for the Swans . . . . .) Apparently SCFC have received 'mixed messages' from SFC regarding ND's availability. Well I'm hardly surprised TBH. Who the hell can decide anything ATM? Putting all this together with the fact that Martinez likes to get ALL his signings done within about a month of the final game of the season, and you can see my reasoning. On the bright side, I'm sure Saints CAN get far better than the 200K currently on offer (although it beggers belief that the 500K in Jan was never taken). I reckon Forest would pay 500K. They have a stupidly high budget for next year. It could be a WIN-WIN-WIN. And in the unlikely event that ND does come back to actually play for Saints next season, cut the guy some slack. Plenty of lower league legends have done far worse than rifle through a handbag (we're talking manslaughter and 'allegedly' rape here). He will be awesome in League 1. Signing off.
ottery st mary Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Paul Terry from Leyton Orient out of contract laid off ex Yeovil....His brother John would come and watch the odd match and help with contacts for loans etc and put some of his millions in the club or not.
The Tango Man Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 if saints survive...sure they will...i strongly suggest we get matt gill in from exeter...out of contract and not on big wages....can we afford anything.....but looking for new contract..us or exeter....come to us matt. Benj540 Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 (edited) My mates girlfriend is a friend of Bobby Scott and he has been snapped up by Aston Villa he is getting a £30,000 signing on fee and £1,500 a week wages. They obviously think that Bobby is going to make it big at Villa and he is only 16 shame realy he should of stayed with us he has been at saints since he was 10!! Wish him all the luck i no he can go far at Villa and he will be a huge success even tho he is from Pompey but his girlfriend is from there aswell lol All the Best Bobbly (next Agbonglahor or mayb Ashley Young)!!!!!!!!! david in sweden Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8036128.stm Marco Van Basten is now available. What ANOTHER Dutchman ? ...maybe he got the tip from JP that there was a likely vacancy at SMS. Hope his managerial record is half as good as his playing career - he was a phenomenal striker.
david in sweden Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 Paul Terry from Leyton Orient out of contract laid off ex Yeovil....His brother John would come and watch the odd match and help with contacts for loans etc and put some of his millions in the club or not. though it sounds an interesting link..he wouldn't be the first player to have a " more famous " brother, yet not be upto par himself. I think at least one of Matt Le Tissiers brothers had a trial at The Dell, but didn't make it, and Joseph (Fish) Mills is the last of four brothers to get a contract with Saints, but only Matt (Mills) has really made any sort of career (Doncaster). Might be impressive but think ..he might be no better than Ollie Lancashire ! if he's been released by Orient.

You are certainly right....As I have seen this lad play and from his non league days.....Dagenham..If memory serves me right and Yeovil...Lower /Conference standard..Midfield...Not as big as brother John...But he is a bustler/worker...Probably off to Dagenham no doubt.... I was probably thinking more PR contacts liason etc....Never works really. Matt Gill at Exeter is a definite maybe if we were in a position.
Benj540 Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 yeah i've heard exactly the same too from people who know him, im not sure if we'll get compo for this one either na we wont get compo because he was only a scholarship player shame realy he could of had a future wid us in league 1!

Tac-tics Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 Scowcroft released too. I'm sure there was a link a few weeks ago to a london paper reporting he rejected a move to Saints in the January window, one to watch maybe?
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 I'm sure there was a link a few weeks ago to a london paper reporting he rejected a move to Saints in the January window' date=' one to watch maybe?[/quote'] mentioned on another post, but exactly the 'type' of player we need... hard worker, big guy, experienced, good target man and knows where the goal is... hopefully cheap
Window Cleaner Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 mentioned on another post, but exactly the 'type' of player we need... hard worker, big guy, experienced, good target man and knows where the goal is... hopefully cheap He can be cheap as chips and would still make no difference to us unless we get someone to buy out the club as a going concern.
SFC Forever Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 If Scowcroft didn't want to come to us in January why would he want to come here now?
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 If Scowcroft didn't want to come to us in January why would he want to come here now? we might be his best/only option. Back then he was fighting for a place at Palace... currently he is a free agent and that might well be the case for a while... if no-body in the CCC wants him then we might represent his best option. Stranger things have happened and I guess a LOT of CCC clubs will be reducing their squad sizes this season and some players may have to drop a division to get games. All of this is assuming we are still in existence next season and have 'some' money to play with.

We're in administration with massive debts and no secure future. There will be no signings until our very existence is confirmed. all speculation about signings is just a waste of time just now.Right now Brentford or Millwall or Swindon Town are better options because they'll still be there next season for sure.
Appy Posted 7 May, 2009 Posted 7 May, 2009 David Noble released from brizzle city. Was a key player for them in their first CCC season. Worth a shout?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 This lad seems keen : http://www.thisisjersey.com/2009/05/07/boyle-poised-to-sign-resign/
Window Cleaner Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 This lad seems keen : http://www.thisisjersey.com/2009/05/07/boyle-poised-to-sign-resign/ How can he be offered a contract when we don't know how much longer we'll be in existence? It just doesn't make any sense.Unless he can be got on some sort of apprentice/YOP scheme where the taxpayer pays him.
Saintjersey Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 McG is our best player, I really hope he stays. LOL, only just saw this post.
The9 Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 Just for completion, Liptak's squad number was 41, but he's not listed in the squad number part in the first post.
southamptonfclegend Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 HCDAJFU... Ivan Campo, Tommy Miller, Billy Clarke, Dean Bowditch all been released by Ipswich they all look like good buys on a free tbh
team-saint Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 tommy miller medhi nafti david noble all available on frees. qaulity midfielders
SuperMikey Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 Just to add to the list of Ipswich players, Matt Richards has not yet been offered a new contract and his runs out soon. IIRC he's quite a versatile left sided player, can play at LB or LM. Could be the type of player we need next season, and potentially the solution to our LB problem.
Psycrow Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 Putting all this together with the fact that Martinez likes to get ALL his signings done within about a month of the final game of the season, and you can see my reasoning. . No problem. Martinez will be Reading manager by the end of May... and they'll definitely be able to afford £500K for Dyer
Matthew Le God Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 Just to add to the list of Ipswich players, Matt Richards has not yet been offered a new contract and his runs out soon. IIRC he's quite a versatile left sided player, can play at LB or LM. Could be the type of player we need next season, and potentially the solution to our LB problem. Mills will be left back next season and will do a great job imo
Matthew Le God Posted 8 May, 2009 Posted 8 May, 2009 How can he be offered a contract when we don't know how much longer we'll be in existence? It just doesn't make any sense.Unless he can be got on some sort of apprentice/YOP scheme where the taxpayer pays him. Did you not read this part of the article? Nothing has been signed yet obviously with the position the club is in at the moment with the administrator He has clearly been offered in principle a contract which will be signed by both parties once a takeover has occured. I would imagine the same has been done with a number of other players.

Chez Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 grant holt from shrewsbury Forrest could not wait to get rid when they had him in League 1. I would suggest that League 2 is his level.
krissyboy31 Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 Matt Jansen's on Soccer am, he's out of contract at the moment. May be HCDAJFU in League 1?
The9 Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 I note with disappointment that as yet there's no actual HCDAJFU list in this thread. Most of the disappointment is because following a comment on the Fans Forum Post Match thread, I'd be on it - LOLz!
Crab Lungs Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 tommy miller medhi nafti david noble all available on frees. qaulity midfielders Noble and Miller would be awesome.
Crab Lungs Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 A good winger... who will prob remind you a bit of Pahars; Saulius Mikoliunas
saint_ed Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 Its key we get some natural goal scorers. Leeds front 2 (Beckford and Becchio) have scored 52 goals between them and they have still only made the playoffs. We need Lambert + another 30 goal striker IMO.
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 But Kevin we aren't actually any sort of option. We're in administration with massive debts and no secure future. There will be no signings until our very existence is confirmed. all speculation about signings is just a waste of time just now.Right now Brentford or Millwall or Swindon Town are better options because they'll still be there next season for sure. I think everyone understands that, we're not retards.... well not all of us anyway. I don't see any harm at all in speculating as to the kind of players we need and would like to sign IF we are to be bought out and have a bit of cash to spend. None of these players will command fees, they're mostly frees and although wages might be a problem who knows what kind of clout the new owners might have (also let's not forget there will be a lot of big earners leaving over the summer). It's not like people are linking us with Beckford of Leeds or anything is it? Anyway since my last post it transpires that Scowcroft didn't turn us down, the bank blocked the deal so I would think that (given all the caveats above) he's exactly the kind of player we need.
Gorgiesaint Posted 9 May, 2009 Posted 9 May, 2009 A good winger... who will prob remind you a bit of Pahars; Saulius Mikoliunas Erm sorry but he won't remind you of Pahars. Sulky, lazy, play-acting & tempremental are words that spring to mind.
Arizona Posted 9 May, 2009 Author Posted 9 May, 2009 I note with disappointment that as yet there's no actual HCDAJFU list in this thread. Most of the disappointment is because following a comment on the Fans Forum Post Match thread, I'd be on it - LOLz! If someone can be arsed to trawl through the tedious list of ridiculous, seemingly infinite, HCDAJFUs that is going to appear on here over the summer, I will happily stick it on the main post. Any volunteers, please PM me. Your reward will be a pair of box tickets to AFC Southampton's first home game next season against Chipping Norton Athletic. Approx. value £2.36. You will also receive a free return trip in the SWF private jet, to a European destination of your choice. P.S. I was the person who said YCDAJFU on the Forum match thread.
saint_ed Posted 10 May, 2009 Posted 10 May, 2009 Erm sorry but he won't remind you of Pahars. Sulky, lazy, play-acting & tempremental are words that spring to mind. Just like Skacel then?
CWD Posted 10 May, 2009 Posted 10 May, 2009 John Oster' date=' Paul Ifill and Carl Fletcher released by Crystal Palace today. Each and every one of them could probably do a good job for us next season, might not demand huge wages either.[/quote'] I totally agree, all three would be quality signings! I'm getting excited now!
