Give it to Ron Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Exactly. Why Derry thinks one offer is better than two offers to choose from is highly conspiratorial. I know Derry can answer for himself but he was/is not saying that - what he was stating IMO was the fact that you were almost rubbishing the other bid in favour of "yours" without knowing anything about that bid.
MusicMan Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Does anyone know if the other bid went in this morning?
dubai_phil Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Wow am I ever lucky to have been off line over the past few days, rows and arguments about who has said the least. The good and simple thing I see is that there has been a bid of some sort and so we have a damned good chance of having a team to watch next year. Think at the end of the day that is all we really want today. No doubt next week we can all start moaning about something else!

It's Ok, as far as I'm aware The Farmer knows very little about the Pinnacle bid and even less about the other bid, he just does a website for Pinnacle, nothing more!

Indeed probably lamenting about the early decisions of the new owners and lack of communications and disregard for fans before the board agreed to changing staff's lunchtime rota. Then it will be post after post of how we allowed Fry to shaft the club and how its typical Saints and fans need to protest because Thomas the Tank Engine should never have been made mascot. It's the old quiet professionalism vs. banshee rhetoric approach once again.

It is quite amusing that we as fans have been begging to have quiet professionalism almost since Lowe came on the scene, and now, when one of the alleged bidding parties seems to be doing exactly that, people are moaning. Just proves to the new owners that while the fans' voice is important, because there are so many different views they would never be able to keep everyone happy so they would probably simply be better off just running the club successfully and quietly instead of making Crouchesque Churchillian speeches about nothing at all

Perhaps you need to lower your expectations then. A takeover by a relative pauper is still a takeover, and will ultimatley result in our club surviving into next season and beyond. Anything more than that will be a huge bonus. I just want to be at SMS next season watching football, regardless of who is in charge, and how much money they have behind them.

We know there is at least 2 bids, maybe 3. No details are known about any of them other than speculation. The guernsey guys have been named as some snapper was either in the right place at the right time or he/she was tipped off. As for the other lot (or 2 lots) nobody knows anything about them, other than an agent politely telling everyone to keep a lid on it and let them and Mr Fry get on with their jobs. Whatever happens, it seems that one way or another one of these 2/3 groups are going to buy us. So call me vain but at this stage I'd say we have reason to be positive, not moaning at each other :smt075

Nineteen Canteen Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Having said that I am appreciating the new found honesty coming from the OS articles. Hypo don't you think an update on the general situation would be useful as it seems to me Wotte is the most senior person at the club and Fry cannot talk on behalf of it. It may be honest but I think perhaps it's more realistic but are they being open and honest with 90% of the stuff that is not being said.

Otherwise spot on.

Nineteen Canteen Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 The most sensible statement of all Not according to Slickmick as he is concerned with the pauper's id. Hopefully the pauper has forked out £60 for a new id card at his local chemist. Now that is crass management!
Nineteen Canteen Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 would this be green money As in backs, Top or organic?
SaintRichmond Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Until we find out bid 1 is from Lowe's cronies. THAT is the spectre most people do not want ....... but, he was at Forest, and in the public eye, for some reason ..... and it STINKS to high heaven IMHO Any comment Mr Fry ???

docker-p Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 So you'd rather be in the position Coventry were with SISU, where there was only one player in town and a take it or leave it noose placed around their necks. I'm glad there is more than one option for Saints and from what I have seen and heard of Mark Fry and his people, he certainly is not stupid. He will know what the best bid is and award the contract accordingly. It's been said a hundred times already, but it's worth repeating. Mark Fry will get the best deal possible for Barclays and Norwich Union. Thats his job, not the best deal for SFC going forward.

Thats his job, not the best deal for SFC going forward. His job is to look after his employers, but that doesn't mean the winning bidder won't be the best deal for SFC going forward.
SaintRichmond Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 His job is to look after his employers, but that doesn't mean the winning bidder won't be the best deal for SFC going forward. WHO are his Employers ???? ..... and I don't mean the actual Company he works for ....
Mole Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 WHO are his Employers ???? ..... and I don't mean the actual Company he works for .... Norwich Union, Barclays, HMRC - is the people he's looking after i'd have assumed.
SaintRichmond Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Norwich Union, Barclays, HMRC - is the people he's looking after i'd have assumed. OK, did THEY employ his Company as Administrators ????
Mole Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 OK, did THEY employ his Company as Administrators ???? I know what you're trying to get at and for the upteenth time - STOP SCAREMONGERING - Lowe is not coming back.
lancelot link Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Just heard MLT on the wave 105 talking about it. only caught the back end of it but he definately said he's involved and "they'll wait to see what the administrator decides".... does that mean a bid has been made??
stevegrant Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 I know what you're trying to get at and for the upteenth time - STOP SCAREMONGERING - Lowe is not coming back. Not often I agree with you, but this is one such occasion.
derry Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Exactly. Why Derry thinks one offer is better than two offers to choose from is highly conspiratorial. Purely because it allows the aministrator to get on and sell the club rather than wait while those that haven't yet bid decide what they are going to do, if anything. It would be a different matter if all the bids were on the table. Presumably a deadline will be be set shortly. Two of the parties were in due diligence the week before the Burnley game, one made an offer, one didn't. The Guernsey duo haven't yet and it looks like there is still no other offer.
thorpie the sinner Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Just heard MLT on the wave 105 talking about it. only caught the back end of it but he definately said he's involved and "they'll wait to see what the administrator decides".... does that mean a bid has been made?? So do we categorically know what group MLT is supporting? It has been mentioned on here many times that he will support any group taking the club forward!! Is it bid 1 or 2?
SaintRichmond Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 I know what you're trying to get at and for the upteenth time - STOP SCAREMONGERING - Lowe is not coming back. Stanley .... how could you think such a thing ???? ........ you didn't answer the question though did you ??? I remember aprox two years ago, in the University Bar, a few of us talking to Wilde. I asked the question "Will Lowe come back" to which Wilde replied ... "not as long as I am associated with SFC" I am not deliberately trying to Scaremonger Stanley ........ but Wilde LIED then, so, in my book NOTHING is what it seems

buctootim Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Now I know how my kids feel on long jouneys. Are we there yet? Have we been taken over yet? Please just say yes. I prefer being lied to.
SaintRichmond Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 That's Wilde for you. Maybe so, but we all believed in him at the time ......... You must be Gordon Brown ........ still no answer to my question
derry Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 My mate just text saying that MLT was just on the news saying takeover to be completed by Saturday? The NDA is obviously not applying to 'his group' then.
SaintDonkey Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 heard the same re-by saturday takeover with MLT Is Saturday the new Friday then?
buctootim Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 Is Saturday the new Friday then? "By Saturday". Sounds like Friday to me.
lancelot link Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 My mate just text saying that MLT was just on the news saying takeover to be completed by Saturday? what news channel mate? he didnt say that on wave 105, just that they had talks and are awaiting to see what the administrator does.
saint_stevo Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 The NDA is obviously not applying to 'his group' then. why? no mention of who the property blokes are
Master Bates Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 what news channel mate? he didnt say that on wave 105, just that they had talks and are awaiting to see what the administrator does. derry Posted 6 May, 2009 Posted 6 May, 2009 why? no mention of who the property blokes are It applies to any details, not just names etc. In any event it sounds like he didn't say that at all.
