Master Bates Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Flybe have decided to sponsor us next season, how nice of them.
hamster Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 So Paul Tisdale can still wear his training top, yay. A penny saved and all that MB eh?
Master Bates Posted 2 May, 2009 Author Posted 2 May, 2009 where did you see this? Todays hard copy echo. Also has Saganowski saying he doesn't want to play in League 1.
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Todays hard copy echo. Also has Saganowski saying he doesn't want to play in League 1. Then he shouldn't be playing tomorrow.
Master Bates Posted 2 May, 2009 Author Posted 2 May, 2009 Then he shouldn't be playing tomorrow. He's not, he's got one of those injuries.
SKATE_HATE Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 They must know something we don't as everyday we move closer to not having a club for them to sponser.
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 He's not, he's got one of those injuries. I see. Honor & pride do not sit comfortably with some it would seem.
adethorne Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 If this is true, a massive hats off to Flybe. At least somebody has the bottle to come along for the ride and hopefully they'll get some pay back. Good on em.

Saint 76er Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 They must know something we don't as everyday we move closer to not having a club for them to sponser. It does indeed sound like they know something. Simon Lilley is very upbeat in the Echo interview. He even says Flybe want to be more involved in the running of the club. Maybe they're going to buy us! Clearly Lilley is a happy man now that Lowe has departed the scene, as are most of us, and he sounds full of enthusiasm for renewing close ties with the club. Maybe this news is a precursor to even better news as Lilley says he is in close contact with Mark Fry and presumably has some sort of heads up on what is actually happening. As major sponsor, whose support may be critical, he is no doubt well and truly in the loop...
Bishop Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 does this mean the home shirt will not change next year? I hope so, I only bought mine just before admin in the free ticket deal.
brmbrm Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Good for FlyBE. Warm feelings towards the company: about as warm as all that carbon dioxide.....
DT Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 The FlyBe St Mary's stadium. That announcement will come later, no? No Branson then.
eurosaint Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Link: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4338369.Flybe_to_stick_by_Saints/ Interesting that the relationship had broken down but is now back on track ! Smells to me that Rupsey's finely honed diplomatic skills may have let us down again ! I can't really see anyone else having upset them as the rest are all poodles ! Oh well, no surprise there I suppose ! Good luck to all travelling fans tomorrow ! COYS.

I wonder what happened to sour the relationship between the club and Flybe so much?
matthewb Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Hmmm, that was very clearly hinted at in the article wasn't it? I wonder what happened to sour the relationship between the club and Flybe so much? I hope this makes sense, but didn't someone say a few weeks ago, that FlyBE were a bit miffed about hearing Important things which were going on at the club (e.g Player arrests etc) in the Echo or on the TV news, when normally its the done thing for the club to call (the major sponsors etc) to give them the heads up with whats going on before it either makes the news or before they make a statement to the press.
TopGun Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 If this is true, a massive hats off to Flybe. At least somebody has the bottle to come along for the ride and hopefully they'll get some pay back. Good on em. They're not going to sponsor Eastleigh are they... perhaps they will! Flybe sponsors clubs next to their main airport operations.
Huffton Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Hmmm, that was very clearly hinted at in the article wasn't it? I wonder what happened to sour the relationship between the club and Flybe so much? Definatley an interesting quote. Personally I think it started with Rupert and ended with Lowe.
BGF Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Cant and wont start another thread but this looks worrying http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/football_league/article6211415.ece
rallyboy Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 there were people on here telling them to go stick their sponsorship where the sun don't shine when they fell out with Rupert, but their return to the table is a positive move imo. If they are confident to stick with us and feel their relationship with the club has improved significantly with the obvious staff changes then the future looks brighter. They wouldn't do that at this stage if there was no buyer and we were on the rocks.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 2 May, 2009 Posted 2 May, 2009 Did anyone notice this! Very ineresting!!! Patrick80's, Southampton says... 9:59pm Sat 2 May 09 From The Times April 27, 2009 Clubs look to their new Hero for cashTony Evans At least six Football League clubs have begun negotiating with a City-based investment fund in the hope of borrowing money in the close season. The majority are believed to come from the Coca-Cola Championship, including Southampton, who were relegated to League One on Saturday and whose holding company is in administration. The managers of Hero Global Football Fund, which is in the process of raising money from investors and will not begin lending until May 31, confirmed yesterday that they have been contacted by a number of clubs seeking cash injections in the fragile economic climate. Hero was set up last year by Nick Hely-Hutchinson and Damian Roberts, City fund managers, to invest in football without taking equity in clubs. Backed by Emirates Bank, Hero plans to raise up to £100 million in its inaugural football-based fund, based on minimum subscriptions of £100,000 and will make funds available to clubs linked to buying and selling players. The finance will be secured across the squad rather than against an individual player’s value. “There’s been a large amount of interest around the league,” Roberts said. “A lot of clubs are looking for capital to finance buying new players or keeping their squad together.” Related Links Football's reckless gamblers cost taxpayer Football League clubs face ' reality check' An executive board of Alan Hansen, the pundit, David Elleray, the retired referee, and David Davies, the former chief executive of the FA, are on hand to advise about football matters but the fund managers are keen to play down concerns that Hero could influence decisions in the transfer market. “The club decides what to do with the money,” Hely-Hutchinson said. “We have no say in their buying and selling. There is no third-party ownership. Any players bought with our funding belong to the club and the club makes all the decisions. That’s why we need to be certain that the business is being run the right way.” Keith Harris, the former chairman of the Football League and chairman of Seymour Pierce investment bank, believes that more clubs will turn to Hero for funds. “Banks are becoming unwilling to lend to football clubs and even when they do it is short term and very expensive,” Harris said. “In contrast, Hero’s player finance is secured across a squad, giving solid security to the lender with the flexibility that individual players can leave and be replaced. “A fund like this has long-term money from its investors so it can offer long-term funds to clubs.” Hero will invest 20 per cent of its fund in developing youth programmes and has made a cash injection to the Glenn Hoddle Academy. WHY IS THE ECHO NOT REPORTED THIS ?
JonnyLove Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 So am I the only one who thinks £250K a year is not a lot to sponsor a team and they will pay us even less next year. Most Championship clubs and even a lot of league 1 clubs get more than than

Most Championship clubs and even a lot of league 1 clubs get more than than Like who? Who do you know that gets more for a shirt sponsorship in the CCC? I think that's about what you'd expect really. A Prem club would get a huge amount more due to the extra TV coverage, magazine coverage, merchandise sales and any other sort of media attention. A CCC club will enjoy a lot less than that, with only a couple of TV appearances and much less chance of coverage from cup competitions in the later stages. League One will in turn be less than that, for the same reasons.
Fan The Flames Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 So am I the only one who thinks £250K a year is not a lot to sponsor a team and they will pay us even less next year. Most Championship clubs and even a lot of league 1 clubs get more than than I agree its peanuts and it seems Flybe try and spin it that they are sticking by us in a hour of need. ******** they are getting a good deal to be on the shirts of one of the biggest teams in Div 1.
AwaySaint1 Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 Flybe will not be our sponsor next season as the new owner will not allow it. you read it here first !!!
benjii Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 Flybe will not be our sponsor next season as the new owner will not allow it. you read it here first !!! Must be Richard Branson then.
RobM Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 This Branson rumour makes me laugh. Having just committed to Brawn GP there is no chance of Branson buying Saints.
benjii Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 This Branson rumour makes me laugh. Having just committed to Brawn GP there is no chance of Branson buying Saints. Me too.
aintforever Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 I expect Flybe got the sponsorship deal for next to nothing, the club probably couldn't afford to get a new kit made so it made sense to stick with flybe for peanuts. Also Flybe do have a MLT plane, so maybe...
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 3 May, 2009 Posted 3 May, 2009 If this is true, a massive hats off to Flybe. At least somebody has the bottle to come along for the ride and hopefully they'll get some pay back. Good on em. Cuts both ways.... have you ever travelled with our sponsor!!!
