Saints All-Stars Match - Game Off

Few interesting points.

Someone paid £400,000 so that we would survive past the Burnley game.

Soccer AM team are getting involved with the match.

Trying to get Robbie Williams to play (random).

Le Tiss, Lundekvam, Paul Jones, Gordon Watson all confirmed to be playing.

Looking promising.

Mike Osman says that the 400k that was written HAS to be paid back. Not knockingMike personalyy but whoever did that must have done so in the knowledge that it was essentially a gamble.

I say less of the challenge to fans and more names please. Actually, I just saw Freddie Starr on Soccer AM and he was always up for a charity game years ago. That might get a few of the older fans out of their bath chairs.

A quick question about the all-stars game.

I'm thinking of taking my son who is just under one year old to his first match and was wondering whether there were any restrictions on age at St Mary's?

Presumably I would need to buy him his own ticket - you do at Wembley.

Any thoughts appreciated,

Ian

No there aren't, and yes you will.

But no offence mate, I do hope you're not sat next to me.

I was told that the 'loan' was thrown into the pot last week and mentioned to buyers/bidders it had to be added on to their offer.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I can understand the distress that it may cause others. I won't take him for a year or two.

He watched Matt Le Tissiers Unbelievable DVD today and was excited everytime Matty scored from the edge of the box. I enjoyed telling him that I was there for that goal and that one etc etc.... Great days the 1980s.

Freddie Star was often with the first team in Lawries days

how about reducing prices to 10 quid adults & 1 quid for kids,a lot of people are being put off at the current prices.after all its only a kick about.

I think it's calculated on the basis that for some reason or other only known to a few the match needs to raise £400K,don't ask me why exactly,so they reckon

on a £16 average and hope to get 25K I suppose. Whether the VAT man gets a slice of that I've no idea.

It will probably go tits up and they'll get about 15K

and raise about 250K which although being better than a smack in the balls with a wet fish, doesn't meet the 400£K target.

£10 and £1 would leave them way off base although the high prices could backfire completely I suppose

As others have already mentioned, £20 per ticket is a bit steep and likely to put many off.

Why have we not been told who, apart from Le Tissier, is playing? Needs a wow factor and so far, apart from Matt, it lacks any pull.

My understanding is that ticket sales are yet to reach anywhere near 1000! I have mine but I fear the game will be cancelled due to lack of support.

I have my tickets but I think part of the problem is that many people just don't believe that the club really needs the money.

This is probably down to the fact that we were initially told the club would struggle to make it through April payday (21st?), then it was after the Forest game, and now there doesn't seem to be a lot of information as to how long we can actually last.

Yes, didn't he come out with the team at the '76 final or was he on team bus or on the bench or something?

Anyway, if he plays in the legend match, I want a minder.

The expectation is there will be a buyer appointed before the match and nobody knows what they are actually going to see!........ as a result £20 sems a lot of money and if only 2000 fans show up the income generated will be minimal......and a huge embarrassment......this sort of event needs momentum and there seems none at the moment......

Perhaps if Mr Fry was to actually make a statement to the fans on the current state of play without mentioning names then it would stop all the apathy and in fighting that is going on at the moment.

A real as it is statement from him would surely be legal and not jeapordise any negotiations taking place which might in turn encourage some fans to turn up.

I am sick of all these statements from the echo and T.V and on here that read 24 hours or 48 hours from 1 bid to 2 bids to no bids which have been going on for a couple of weeks.

Perhaps they should of had the game on a friday then we would know it would not take place.

1300 tickets sold is woeful.

I'm hoping that we will be bought before the game by a billionaire Arab who will personally meet, greet and thank every fan that turned up and hand them a briefcase stuffed full of £50 notes!

:D

Why are so many people complaining about ticket price for a game that is designed to raise the club as much money as possible?

Why would people go for 10 quid but not 20? They care 10 pounds worth but no more?

I imagine most aren't going because it's a nothing game that doesn't sound very exciting at all. Needed more ex saints from the off. Niemi, Bridge, Beatts, Ormerod, Fernandes, Svensson, Claus, Benali, Dodd, Le Tiss, Pahars, Marsden, and some older characters like Ruddock, Beasant. Maybe even Shearer could play?

Maybe,

I can't understand it myself....as Danny Dyer says 'What else you gonna do on a Sunday'

Seems a good way to give some cash to the club, entertainment as well.

It probably wouldn't add thousands to the attendance, but adding more info about the match to the official website might generate a few more ticket sales (and I have emailed the ticket office to suggest this).

At the mo there's no information under 'next match' or 'tickets' and even the 'match launch' news item (at http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11753) fails to mention ticket prices, ticket office opening hours and whether you can pay on the day.

South Today just said it might be cancelled.

It's not exactly the most appealing event isit? So no suprises that it could be cancelled.

I admit 1000odd is bad. Might just let the club keep the money I paid for my ticket if it gets cancelled. Not that a £10 will do much.

Some people may look at a £20 and think, "oo'er whoopsie doopsie no, I need this money"

Where as with a £10 they may go "Mummph, why not, it's only a tenner".

I reckon we'd get 5,000+ if it was £10 and at a 3pm kick off.

I'm not going, don't appeal to me at all. I've been to games since the old 3rd division and want us to survive but basically it is a bankrupt business that has been operated by inept Chairmen and Directors. Can't see that RL made all the decisions single handed, the various boards must have voted with him.

All businesses are having a tough time (except administrators!!!!!!!) at the moment and its the survival of the fittest whether a football club or a barber. Anyone wanting to put money into a football club must be have it to burn so as far as Saints are concerned I'm afraid beggars can't be choosers, we will have to accept a saviour whoever they may be.

So helping keep things afloat until a buyer is secured does not appeal to you?

I cannot make the game and might have gone perhaps even at £20 - in fact probably would have bought two tickets. However, I have to wonder whether (a) its actually going to enable the takeover to be strung out furher and (b) we should be paying more money into a fund that we have no sight of in terms of its beneficiary. Its no good saying - "its to save the club" - when in fact a large proportion will go to paying the salary of players who have either not played for us this season and/or have put in rubbish performances for us and/or will be leaving SFC at the earliest opportunity - or indeed a combination of all of these.

Sorry, but as much as I want Saints to survive and like others have said, the current state of affairs has to stop soon. We're fast running outta patience and wonga Mr Fry.

I would have gone but I think canceling is the right thing to do.

The bucket collection sort of made sense "to get Saints to the end of the season", but now the season has ended the club just needs to be sold, we might make enough to pay the administrators for another week then what? We can't hold a charity match every week.
