londonsaint1604 Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 Yep that's right - remember it from a couple of seasons back. The pitch was so far away (with the spectators so low down) you really couldn't tell what was going on. I see what you mean... The view from the away end.
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 30 April, 2009 Author Posted 30 April, 2009 Who are the 4/5 teams in League One with terraces? are they for the away fans? any pics?
Lets B Avenue Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 At least Oldham & Brentford have put roofs over the away ends. I was under the impression that Swindon put away fans in the stand on the left of that photo, level with the penalty area.
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 30 April, 2009 Author Posted 30 April, 2009 Just had a bad thought, if these are spectators facilities what are the executive suites like? perhaps we should have saved this thread until any takeover deal is signed sealed and delivered!
Michelle Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 As much as I'd rather not have been relegated, I am looking forward to the new away grounds. Don't give a hoot about locality, I'd rather have as many as possible that I haven't already been to. Really hoping Carlisle don't go down at the weekend! It's quite scary I could actually clock up my 92 all with Saints the way we're spiralling down - would just need cup ties at Arsenal, Wigan and Swansea to finish 'em off!
lee_saint Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 See the site below for links to the grounds we will be playing at. http://www.footballgroundguide.com/
lee_saint Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 Also, am I right in thinking that Bristol Rovers ground is being re-developed and will be playing at Cheltenham at some point next season?
JRM Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 Who are the 4/5 teams in League One with terraces? are they for the away fans? any pics? Away grounds that currently have terraces = Brentford, Yeovil, Bristol Rovers - that is it i think, unfortunately peterborough are going up as that is the best away terrace in the league, however coming up from League 2 we might get Exeter and Dagenham who also have terracing for away fans. Can get away with standing at every away game anyway as long as enough do it..
Whitey Grandad Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 Also, am I right in thinking that Bristol Rovers ground is being re-developed and will be playing at Cheltenham at some point next season? Apparently not: http://www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/news/loadsngl.asp?cid=EDY4&id=413224
Handyman Posted 30 April, 2009 Posted 30 April, 2009 We will walk this league Oh Dear. Where have I heard that before?

A Nut Can Cut You Posted 4 May, 2009 Posted 4 May, 2009 Some fine looking real football stadiums in this league. I was looking forward to seeing Stuart Gray's Northampton, but they were relegated by one point after losing their last game. Four teams within a point's reach, three of them with a considerably worse goal difference. Looking at this year's table, a -10 team would have needed to pick up 60 points to stay up. Walsall was 13th with 61 points. So as long as we have a club, we should be able to finish in mid-table at worst. Qualifying for the play-offs requires automatic promotion form.

ianthesaint Posted 4 May, 2009 Posted 4 May, 2009 cant wait for it some great games to look forward to...
Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2009 Posted 4 May, 2009 I suppose that if there is a positive, it is the chance to play at some good old fashioned stadiums. Hope it is just for one year and we can go up via the play offs, but I really think next season is about consolidation. I reckon SMS is the best stadium in the league. Is it the biggest if Leeds go up ?
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 4 May, 2009 Posted 4 May, 2009 The last time I was there was our promotion season. Is it still in the same place? Same as me then Grandad. And from what I can remember one of the ends at Leyton was all grass and railway sleepers.
St Lightjaw Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Key dates here .. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/KeyDates/0,,10794~1357319,00.html So 17th of June for the fixture list. 8th of August we kick off!! A sunny Brighton away or Norwich (then off to great yarmuff!) for me would make an ideal opening fixture Have we got any pre-season friendly games lined up btw? Most other clubs are already sorted ... can't find ours
Andy_Porter Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Have we got any pre-season friendly games lined up btw? Most other clubs are already sorted ... can't find ours  Probably more important things for the club to try and sort out....
St Lightjaw Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Probably more important things for the club to try and sort out.... Yeah ... but i'm in denial at the moment ... given up on the other threads!!! And have now got a good feeling in my water Although I do think we wont have a pot of **** in whoever takes us over. No reason why we can't do an aldershot and raise funds for the manager. Give ourselves a fighting chance So ... next seasons fixtures. Bit of positive mental attitude needed guys and gals!
The9 Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Brighton apart. I give it until about an hour before the first away game of the season until someone starts moaning about "crappy away ground facilities in this League"... assuming "this League" is League One not Blue Square South. PS Last time I was there, that was Brentford's home end.
The Saturday Boy Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Have we got any pre-season friendly games lined up btw? Most other clubs are already sorted ... can't find ours  Away to Eastleigh on July 4th is one I've seen.
Andy_Porter Posted 21 May, 2009 Posted 21 May, 2009 Didn't realise it was less than a month until the new fixtures are released. Charlton, Southend or Brentford away on the 8th of August would be great. Will probably end up with Hartlepool or Carlisle away though.
The Saturday Boy Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 STOP PRESS- Friendly away to Woking on 3rd August ;-)- http://www.wokingfc.co.uk/news/detail/further-pre-season-friendly/1479/
Ponty Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Every time I see this thread title it makes me cringe a little.

dickyhale Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Now the dust is settling, i find myself looking forward to visiting grounds ive never been to, also am i right in thinking lots of league one clubs still have terracing? same. ive got many new grounds to go and vist now league one is coming next season.
St Lightjaw Posted 25 June, 2009 Posted 25 June, 2009 I see what you mean... The view from the away end. Ouch ... better take my binoculars! I drove past Walsall's ground on Sunday. Looked like it was tucked away in an industrial estate
