CB Fry Posted 1 May, 2009 Share Posted 1 May, 2009 JPT will be tough though, both Leicester and Leeds thought it was going to be easy and they got knocked out early! I'm not a great student of it, but it always seems to me that the JPT is normally always won by a League 2 team. I get the feeling it is a bit of a Carling cup for the teams pushing for promotion to the CCC - an expendable waste of fixtures. Don't be too surprised if we don't go all out to win it. That said, I think we should - if we are going to go up it will be through the playoffs and getting a trip to Wem-ber-lee under our belts earlier in the season would be the best preparation you could get. Agreed, and whilst it might not be the biggest competition ever it still represents some silverware & i think we should take it seriously. I think we'll see the lowest ever gate at SMS for a competitive fixture for the games though! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Trophy#Winners According to this teams have to play atleast 6 players with the most appearances that season so we'll have to take it seriously anyway. rallyboy Posted 1 May, 2009 Share Posted 1 May, 2009 Might be nice to survive first in some form before planning our trip to Wembley, that aside, the release of the fixtures will be a sobering moment, the club's status is there in black and white. Suddenly the nightmare about battling with Yeovil etc is a reality.
The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Share Posted 1 May, 2009 This is the best news and a reason to stay in league 1. I ****ing hate international weeks. Especially when it's the usual pointless and ridiculously tedious friendly. We currently have Lloyd James in Wales U-21s and apparently McLaggon's Welsh too (and would be worth a game at U-21), so it might not be the end of it actually... 2 players called up is all you need to get a game called off IIRC. eelpie Posted 1 May, 2009 Share Posted 1 May, 2009 Indeed mate, be tough ask, makes you think though....football league let us off -10, but then hits us with -15.....it's the sort of thing they would do! That would be the FA wont' it if we haven't got HMRC clearance?
