If Mark Fry does manage to strike a deal that puts us in safe (non-Lowe by definition) hands, with a bit of rebuilding money and the hope of a positive future which at some point really materialises, does his contribution to SFC history stand along side the likes of Matt Le Tiss ?

Posted

No. Lol.

The buyer may elevate himself to MLT2 status in time however depending on their level of investment, decision-making and fan empathy.

Anyway, David McGoldrick will prove to be MLT2 in good time.

No, that is his job.

Infact it could be said that he's not doing a very good one, seeing as 34 people have enquired and only 2, possibly 3 are still interested.

Tosh!

I would say he's doing a very good job as he's weeded out the silly offers to concentrate on the serious ones.

Are you ITK enough to know that all the other 32 potential bidders didn't have the cash to move forward?

No more than you. But the fact that they've dropped by the wayside suggests to me that they weren't worthy of further consideration.

Of course, they might not have liked what they were seeing - I'll concede that point.

His job is to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Why? He is only doing a job and has a whole team of workers

Does not even compare imo, Fry is not going to pull something out of the bag to keep us in the top flight of english football is he ? if not for MLT somoene of Fry's ilk would have been appointed long before now.

In the sense that Matt Le Tissier was one big trick, whereas McGoldrick is one big pr*ck?

Thats abit strong!

I don't even look at Peter Crouch as a ***** for not taking it into the corner and yet he plays for Pompey now!

And Le Tissier wasnt "doing his job" ?

I dont agree. Both will have saved the club from oblivion at different times.

I certainly see parallels.

except that if mark fry wasnt here, someone else would have been apointed tod o the same job.

if we didnt have matty, could you have seen any of the players doing exactly the same job?

Fair comment.

But do you not feel there are good administrators and bad administrators too ?

I felt he wanted SFC to survive as a going concern, not just asset strip for debt recovery.

Oh please! now I've heard it all!!!!

The man is doing his job, plain and simple. I'm not sure why people seem to think he somehow has a soft spot for us or is doing an extra specialy good job for us. He is an administrator, it's what he does!

Yes, he may be very good at it, but please stop all making out that he is somehow interested in what happens to the club long term. All he is interested in is getting as good a deal for the creditors as he can.

Totally and utterly irrelevant. What the f**k has his feelings got to do with it ?

I am asking that considering we are potentialy a week away from folding and he brokers a deal that saves us and puts us back on the road to success, will history look back on his acheivement with the same sort of regard as Matty scoring 35-odd goals a season back in the 90s ?

Its an issue of historical contribution, not emotion.

And once again, I dont understand why people fail to see that MLT was doing his job, too..

Posted

But the two are inextricably linked, I don't know why you can't see that. Are you telling me that MLT spent his entire career playing here just because it was a job. No, he invested himself emotionally as well, otherwise he would just have hopped off on to the next gravy train at the first opportunity.

And here you are asking us to compare him to the club administrator who will sell us to the highest bidder, whoever that may be!

The answer to your question is no by the way!

You obviously didn't see MLT play (or McG )

Mr Fry will hang this out as long as possible and with his massive wages, bonus and double time for Bank Holidays will then buy the club for himself....He has come to luv the SFC but particularly this forum.

im not sure about MLT 2 but i have been impressed with him so far,he is articulate and he seems to be on our side and fighting our cause in fact i would like him to be involved in some way when all the dust settles.

only time will tell wether or not his input becomes an important part of saints history.

Did he not miss on Saturday ?

MLT NEVER BOTTLED IT

The reason Fry will be sucessful, where Lowe wasn't, is because Fry has to sell the club. Lowe on the other hand was greedy and in the end his greed backfired and he was left with nothing.

Such a tragic shame.

Stand along MLT? If Mark Fry can step onto the turf at SMS and regularly control with one touch, turn on a sixpence and fire it into the top corner from 35 yards - then he gets my vote!

Until then - he appears to be doing a professional job, which we should all do in our day to day jobs, and if he finds us a decent buyer then I will be happy.

Fry is not going to save the club from oblivion the only person/s who is going to save the club is the person who buys it.

It seems to me an administrator has an easy job

I agree with you but I dont think he is actually looking for a buyer

The buyers are coming to him I dont think he is allowed to ring up Branson or Frost and say how about bidding

You should try out some of this material on a larger audience than the SWF. Your comedy genius isn't adequately appreciated here. :(

I've read it all now. The two people and the two situations are not even comparable. This is up there with the "Mark Fry for Chairman" baloney.

I know I'm going to get shot down in flames and called an "ITK ****" or whatever but seriously hear me out...

Saints will be holding a testimonial for Mark Fry as our first pre-season friendly of 2009-2010. FACT!!!

It will be a Boardroom Legends XI (Wilde, Hone, Dulieu, Lowe, Cowan, Askham, Richards, Oldknow, Crouch, Windor-Clive, Withers), managed by Lawrie McMenemy v The New Board (Allen, Souness, Ambani, Branson, Frost, Davies, Salz, Fat Barry, David Beckham, Captain of the Hants U-16 Cricket Team, Bo Selecta) managed by David Platt and Des Walker.

In the interests of continuity the match will be reffed by David Jones.

You can all scoff as much as you like.

If you cannot see that the results of Frys efforts will have as big a historical impact on SFCs fortunes as MLTs had, then I pity you all pond life......

He is here to do a job and that is to try and find a buyer for the club, if he succeeds he will then move onto his next job, if he fails and we go bust he will still move onto his next job. There is no love affair with SFC but only with the job that he trained for many years ago.

Once more : who has alluded to any "love affair".

If you lot are saying that the impact of MLT outstrips Mark Fry's potentially purely on the basis of the emotion that he "luvs the club", that is pretty blinkered and one-dimensional thinking.

If MF spends the rest of his career at SFC, delights the fans and the rest of the footballing community with his exploits - consistently - and continues to bleed red and white long after his retirement, then you may have a point. The reality is though that there are dozens of Mark Fry's in the country, there is only one MLT.

That is very likely to be the case - and he shouldn't really have to go touting for buyers. We are a fairly high profile failing business at the moment and such people would surely already be well aware of our predicament - if they want to enter the bidding then I'm sure they will know who to contact.
