Hi. I dont post all that often on here!

I have just spoken to a close family member who works with a lot of big south coast property developers. He said he has never heard of these two guys and asked around a few of his contacts who also say they have never heard of them. Pretty safe to say if they are worth knowing they would of heard of them!

I think it may be an attempt to force a few potential investors hands into making a move.

For the less bright amongst us, the above seems to link Quentin Murray Hubbard with Beck Hubbard and hence with the property developer in Guernsey. Maybe our man is not all that successful.

Quibec Properties Ltd (currently in administration) is owned by Quinten and Rebecca Hubbard of St Peter Port, Guernsey.

If he's not a Channel Island native, haven't you got to be minted to get residency there?

Basically yeah, you can't buy a house on the normal market (can't remember the exact term) unless you are a native however there are a certain number of properties that anyone can buy and live in. But they tend to cost millions rather than thousands.

Quinten Murray Hubbard is not a current director of any company according to creditsafe and is a resident of Guernsey. Also listed is a second address at Highnam Gloucestershire.

Thats a property he was developing, his home address is in Guernsey.

I understand that Sarah Beeny may be one of the other interested parties...

That would be most welcome as many of the others mentioned appear to be either on a par with Nick Leeson, or in league with Rupes and Mikey.

Smoke-screen IMO.

Fry trying to force the other 'well-suited' investor to make a concrete offer.

Time will tell though.

I'm not saying this is wrong, but I don't understand it. If someone has got this far through the process of buying a run down football club, do they really need prompting in this way? Surely it would be more effective for Mark Fry to give them a ring and tell them outright?

As I said in another thread, Gee up tactics one side and Woah There Neddy tactics on the other.

Good grief

Let's take a step back shall we. Fry has said he is hopeful of some developments today or tomorrow.

SSN have been given some names by somebody, if they are late bidders trying to impress Fry and make him delay accepting something from the two due dilligence parties then we have to say it seems to be entirely underwhelming.

Fry and his NDA system seems to have been THE single most professional thing that has been done at SMS all this sorry season, so I sincerely doubt that he or his team made any names known.

Next up, SSN will be reading some of these posts and saying that Lowe has adaughter called Rebecca who married a cricketer who knows MLT and they have put in a bid to turn the Gasometer at SMS into a "sheltered housing" in order to fund the purchase of Christiano Ronaldo and Robinho next season.

We want a professional operation with funds and experience to buy us if at all possible, thankfully, I think the first we will hear about them will be when Fry has a press conference to announce the winning bid

Propert developer ?

So they want to knock down SMS and put up flats then :-(

I'm with Alps on questioning whether this is good news or not. I speculated a while ago that property developers might be interested in picking up Staplewood and the farm, strip those assets (and maybe Saint Mary's) and then jettison the team.

If these guys are in it for the property rather than the football this could be far worse news than even the return of Lowe. This may be signing the teams death warrant rather than saving it.

(damn I need some happy pills!)

Agreed!

This does not represent Mark Fry's style imo.

I agree.

If I had a number of interested parties and beleived that a njumber of them were dragging their feet I would (in most cases) set a deadline and tell them to get on with it.

I wouldn't be that surprised if this turned out to be one potential bidder trying to manipulate others into showing their hands. Sometimes refered to as playing silly bugg3rs.

If it gets any more drawn out and complicated George W will invade St Mary's to see if anything needs sorting out.

Sounds like a typical gabfest at the United Nations if you ask me, everyone stalling and jockeying for position all the time.

When he does this we will say that Lowe and Wilde have massive oil reserves in their back gardens...... that should sort them out.

But what if said person had been to the Football League for the fit and proper exam and someone had had the eyes out?

Some journalists will do anything to get a minor scoop you know.If there's a pub across the road to hang about in even better.Much intelligence is gathered by just hanging about seemingly doing nothing you know. It's knowing where to hang out and how to look like part of the furniture that's the art of the affair.

And Becky is related to Old Mother Hubbard apparently

Wasn't it old mother Hubbard who went to the cupboard, but the cupboard was bare? Then, she'd feel right at home at SMS!

...or was that the old woman who lived in a shoe?

I dont buy this land backed asset strip idea.

There is a huge land bank available to buy at the moment without much interest. If we could sell all 3 bits (Marchwood, Jacksons Farm & the stadium) I would be surprised in the current climate to raise much more than £5m (happy to be proved wrong) & that ignores any fixed creditors that we have to pay a percentage back too.

I want to know more about the Yacht story

Trousers get your Yacht spotter out see if Bizzle can point out the yacht

Do yachts have earlobs ?

Just asked a mate who lives pretty close if he could see what is was called and apparantly it's the Lady Moora??

So you'd rather have someone you've heard of? How about Lowe and Wilde, will they do?

what about Brett Sinclair and Danny Wilde.

Worthy owners they'd be.

Pretenders out,the Persuaders in.

On second thoughts I think I'd rather have Chrissy Hynde as long as they Stand by Us and have Brass in Pocket.

The stadium (as has been pointed out time and time again but some people are a bit hard of thinking it seems) is worthless as housing land being built, as it is, on an ex gas works site. The land isn't worth the money it would take to knock the stadium down!
