thorpie the sinner Posted 2 May, 2009 Share Posted 2 May, 2009 My money is on no bids and eventual liquidation. If Salz was in a consortium or brokering a deal then it would of been tabled by now as they were far in advance of any others with the inside knowledge they had. He has not made a bid so I think he is a non starter. Morph is a teaser. The 2 Guernsey chancers will be laughed away. I have not seen anything written apart from this board about Souness interested. I hope I am wrong but we have been on a downward spiral for 5 years and tailspins normally end up with big crashes. aren't Saints due a piece of luck then looking on the other side of the coin! Only later picked up on here. 4 groups have paid to employ chartered accountants for the due diligence process no completed or nearly so. Morph has said he hasn't got a clue who is involved and is just teasing.

Red Posted 2 May, 2009 Share Posted 2 May, 2009 Am I the only one who thinks the "Household Name" could be Souness? About as well known as any other famous sporting personality and always on TV ???? Ties in with a lot of other comment about the Souness consortium as well on here. Maybe the dilemma Mr. Fry is it best to have a consortium with strong football knowledge and connections (and some Saints history) and limited funds or a rich wealthy individual with no football connections. Not a straightfoward a choice as it seems - which is better for the longer term stabilty of the club and fans? Not sure I would want to make the call. BTW I am assuming the Souness consortium have enough funds to settle all outstanding debts, and hence Fry's professional and legal obligations are met with either choice. They don't have to settle all outstanding debts and why the **** should they??.....they didn't run them up; they will negotiate with the creditors to but us at as low a price as possible. That bloke who took over Ipswich - didn't he end up paying 7M when they had >20M debts?
70's Mike Posted 2 May, 2009 Share Posted 2 May, 2009 when i win the euro lottery next week i intend to offer 14m , put Wotte back to the academy, appoint Steve Cottrell as manager, Trevor Birch as CEO and a new finance director. Season tickets will be £350 upwards and current holders will have to the end of May to claim their seats, they will not go up in price when offered up for general sell. We will discuss with the council about making better use of the Dell Bar during the week with dancers on sunday lunch time, a pool team and darts if we can, this needs to be a true supporters club again

NickG Posted 2 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 2 May, 2009 hard one, easy to knock managment suggestions as either failed and sacked or unproven. Not knocking Cotterill but can't see anything making him stand out. Was a backer of Tisdale, who although unproven looks on the up, on succcessful run and would unite us. That bloke who took over Ipswich - didn't he end up paying 7M when they had >20M debts? Apologies - did not explain well enough (too much beer), my main point was that I think the house hold name is Souness and what if his consortium is perfect from a footballing perspective (knows the game, has contacts, is respected, Saints connection - remember LM resigned from DOF when Souness left as a protest against Lowe, etc. etc.) BUT only has enough funds to bail us out and not much more, compared to a mega rich individual who has no football credentials. Both can save us as far as Mr. Fry is concerned, but what is best for SFC and the fans? Of course the obvious answer is to have Mr. Money Bags back Souness, and maybe, just maybe Mark Fry is trying to do that - hence the delay? Let's hope ??? Maybe this explains some of the comments about two bids merging into one? I have no inside info, and the above is one (but only one) possible explanation. I just hope it's true - as we will by implication have a club next season. BTW, Souness had his next job lined up well before he left us for it's worth! NickG Posted 6 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 May, 2009 is it unknown and discrete bidder "a" or bidder "b" unknown but involved in property and want MLT as some sort of front person? Not sure we know more than this? Simple view but out of two groups, not knowing what they are like at running a club would go for the richest! SaintRobbie Posted 7 May, 2009 Share Posted 7 May, 2009 who would you guess? Crouch, Fulthorope, Souness, some finance person we have never heard of? My guess is Quentin Hubbard, property developer from Ch Islands I think we'll be surprised. Pleasantly surprised. This takeover deal has not had Crouch, Lowe or Wilde's inept handling skills all over it, but run by a professional in Fry. I suspect the buyers names are still under wraps.
