the administrator said it was a household name, the only one who has been mentioned in all the rumours is Rod and Gordon. We'll be Sailing if that comes off.Lol.

Think about it WGS stays in contact with RL (supposedly get on still) Lowe gives him the headsup how we are a bargain (Scottish, likes a bargain) Rods mate is gordon who fancies to buy a football club (asupports Scotland and likes a bargain) WGS is still adored by fans, I have Rod Stewarts greatest hits on vinyl and Im a saints fan.It all fits into place, time to go down the bookies

I can't believe nobody knows, not even the media

Just to back up what people have said on other threads, Mark Fry is the most professional person we've had at the club for years

It's a shame we couldn't have him as Chairman

I love the thought of KK but I have this thought in my head that his first press conference he would walkout on us after a nasty question was thrown at him.

Such as 'what WERE you doing in that layby?'

Personally, I'd love it - LOVE IT - if he came here!

Why not? I dont know who else is involved with the bid, but Fulthorpe is involved with one.

Souness would be good .... He was the first "decent" Manager Lowe got rid of by not giving him any funds to improve the Team ........ Souness's comments re Lowe's Footbal acumen are well known, so it would be nice if he could administer the Coup de Grace

Interesting that KK name keeps coming up.

On doing a bit of googling I noticed that a little while ago a South African consortium was interested in purchasing Newcastle and wanted KK as manager and were also offering him a multi million pound stake in the club. They must think alot of him!

I know absolutely Jack, but seems a possible although maybe an outside bet.

My bets on the 3 bidders would be, in no particular order:

* Souness/Malaysian

* Wilde

* Local cheapskates who won't provide final proof of funds

I don't believe Salz or any of the "well known" names have ever had any interest other than as tyre kickers.

Get your facts straight. Salz was ASKED by Crouch to help the club out in an advisory role, particularly in relation to the club's relationship with Barclays. He has never suggested he wanted to be involved in purchasing the club.

So wind your neck in and have some respect for the inluential fans we have who are/have helped the club out in it's hour of need

I had a horrible dream last night which involved Lowe phoning Hoddle and convincing him to jack in his football school in Spain and invest in a Southampton one instead. Which also happened to play League One footy. Could happen?

I don't care what he has or hasn't suggested, my opinion (I think I'm allowed one) is that he and other names have continually been put forward over the last 3 years in respect of putting money into Saints and/or taking it over. So facts are quite straight thanks.

"Wind your neck in and have some respect"? Apples and pears mate, is this the bleedin' Eastenders board? As for Salz being influential, yeah that influence has done us a lot of good hasn't it - or was it his influence that allowed us to breach the £5m overdraft by £1.5m?

Isn't the salient point about Salz the fact is that he's an expert in mergers, takeovers and aquisitions?

I've never held the view that he was going to invest - only that he had the nous, experience, respect and influence to facilitate a takeover.

I'm sure Morph will put us straight on Salz' actual involvement :)

He's apparently very confident of getting a deal done soon though.

Glad Lowe isn't one of the bids anyway.

He's been very confident for over a year and quite happy to tell ayone who will listen.

I can't believe he has waited for the club to go into Administration, to make his move. The minus 10 points will set any business plan back by at least a year probably 2.

I was talking about that joker fulthorpe.

Your post on Saltz and what he brings to the table was spot on and your right, he has never mouthed off . Sounds like good chairman material

What the heck has being influential got to do with our overdraft? Salz certainly is an influential person, but mainly because of his prowess as a legal eagle. As such, he has contacts very highly placed in British industry and commerce. As far as I'm aware, nobody has suggested that Salz would be in the position to invest his own money in the club, but he is the sort of person who would easily command a seat on the board of most blue chip companies and would very probably make a very decent non-executive chairman for us, if whoever takes us over wanted a big hitter at the head of the board.

Meanwhile on Planet Stanley, here's what you said only yesterday:

Tom Scott/A Tom Scoot consortium or Salz/A Salz consortium is where my money would be.

Yeah, nobody round here trying to suggest Salz is making a bid is there. You should talk to Vurbal Kent, you'd probably get on like a house on fire.

So now you're taking what's written and rumoured on a messageboard as the truth???

You've come on here and criticised a man for being a "tyre kicker" when he has never once spoken about investing in the club. He was asked by LC to help out and he did just that. Why don't you just accept that, and apologise for the statement you made?

So if somebody is a member of a consortium, then they have to put money in, do they? It seems to have escaped you that it is possible to have somebody fronting a consortium as a figurehead and that the money comes from backers?

After all, our erstwhile 'figurehead' didn't put that much money in, did he :)

What I'll do is add you to the very special list I keep of people on bulletin boards who go around demanding apologies from people. There are 4 of you now.

You still didn't answer what Salz's "influence" was with respect to Barclays? Obtaining the £5m overdraft? Exceeding the £5m overdraft?

this is fair comment.

I believe intially AS was as concerned as the rest of us that Saints might fold and quickly made moves to at least provide some sort of back up, consortium wise, if no one else came forward. I think now bigger or wealthier groups have done due diligence and AS can go back to being a fan which is all he wanted in the first place. It is nice to know however that if "push had come to shove" then a well-respected group were prepared to step in and do what they could.

I have spoken to AS a few times in the last year (not in the last month I hasten to add) and he is one of the most unassuming men I have ever encountered. Hardly one to blast his name from the rooftops - he would make a perfect non exec Chairman imo.

So what are you moaning about then? You say you think he's going to head a consortium, I say him and others are tyrekickers and not serious and isn't one of the bids. Or is it only you who's allowed to "speculate" without the anally-retentive demanding apologies and stamping their feet?

You're missing my point i think Jonah. WHAT he did is not the point i'm making. He didn't come into the club shouting from the rooftops and demanding a seat at the table. He was asked to come and help by LC. I don't think it's fair in the slightest, therefore, to call him a tyre kicker when he never suggested he was going to invest. He was only ever involved in the club because he was asked to be in an advisory role.

Why should you apologise? Simply because it would be polite. But i doubt any would lose sleep over it so why don't you just carry on attacking Stanley or whoever else is on your hit list. I'm guessing probably Alpine.

Poor try Morph, must do better. Trying to blow out someones elses candle doesnt make your burn brighter.

I have no idea whether Ratcliffe is involved in anyway, personally I doubt it. However he isnt an asset stripper. He normally buys up legacy plant, old technologies from blue chip companies and runs them for cash. Highly leveraged certainly, but not an asset stripper. If anything he keeps open slightly dodgy factories which should have been closed years ago.

Didn't he play harry potter?

1 Souness consortium

2 Charlene de Carvalho Heineken

3 Jersey Businessman, cant remember his name

These are the three according to my info..............

Dont care as long as they have £100m to spend over the three/four year s to take us to Champions League football in 2013!!

Jonah you're beginning to tie yourself in knots. By your logic it's ok to slate Salz for not investing because people on a message baord suggested he was going to invest. Your logic gets stranger and stranger. A bit like your logic in dismissing the crashing share price when it was performing considerably worse than the trends in the market. In that instance i showed you up to have a poor grasp of finances and this instance you've shown yourself up again.

Hope it's number two. She has big Dutch connections, obviously, which may or may not be the link with Wotte/Portvleit etc. She is also phenomenally wealthy, and is presumably the household name Fry was supposed to be on about.
