Eastleigh....

My house is closer to Southampton that it is to Eastleigh or Romsey scumdilleypop.

Depends where in Baddesley you live. If you go down Rownhams Lane, Southampton begins just before you get to Lordshill, whereas if you go via The Clump (or whatever it's called now), Southampton begins at the Clock roundabout.

Romsey starts by the Luzborough pub.

By the way, I'm a true Romsonian. On my mum's side back to the mid 1800's. When I was a nipper, we always thought that Baddesley was full of pikeys.

Born and bred in Swaythling (North Stoneham if you remember a much earlier thread). I have been going to 10 Acres for several seasons and will be at Hayes tonight.

However, due to a life-long dislike of all things Beastley, I still like to annoy my fellow fans by referring to them as Swaythling or Athletic.

Not quite up ther with Stu, but then I would have had N. Baddesley steralised years ago. :D

So to sum this up, StuRomseySaint, whose local team is Romsey town, hates his next most local team (Eastleigh) but loves his next next most local team (Saints), presumably becaise of this next-next-local-affinity.

Just got back. Only the 2 late goals spoilt a bloody good evening. Even missed a pen @ 1-0. We just stood there grinning as the locals went beserk with the ref, their team, everyone! Their star forward got himself sent off for a headbutt @2-0 and we could have got 7 or 8.

As it is, Hayes have got themselves back in it and Saturday could be a bit nervy like the recent Chelski/ Scouse match.

Recommend people come along. If only to watch the veins in Bairdy's head. :)

I'll just add that AFC Totton also won tonight in a play-off. They beat Beaconsfield 2-1 including a last min penalty save to stop it going to extra time. The game ended with a mass brawl that apparently was the worst (best?) most people have ever seen.

They are now home to Didcot on Sat (they beat Windsor) - the winner will be promoted to the Southern Prem (4 Leagues below Saints).

Why couldn't Saints have done the same as Totton? ie get to a major cup final and invest the money in the team and really push on.

Good luck to Totton on Sat - they are now strong favs but still have to do the biz...

South is round by Wessex Lane. North is Stoneham Lane and its environs. In the thread we had some months ago, I told how my dear old would tell people we lived there, rather than admit to living in Swaythling.

Indeed, St Nicholas Church (the closest landmark for proximity to Ten Acres) is in North Stoneham:

Am I right in thinking, if Eastleigh get past Yeading, we are in the final which is played at Wembley?

No if Hampton & Richmond win the other, as looks likely, it will be at Hampton's home ground. If Chelmsford turn it around and win, it will be at Ten Acres/Siverlake.
