"Just thought Id let you know, our coach was delayed by half an hour due to the fact a 9 year old girl had to have 3 stitches after being struck by a coin, what has happened to your club mate?"

That is word for word a text I recieved from a Burnley fan I met on holiday last year and came down to watch.

Now I hold my hand up and was at the Northam end SINGING but the minute I saw coins and somehow a drinks can thrown I thought **** that.

Then some man in the Kingsland was screaming & going way OTT at kids calling them scum for taking the corner piece on the hordings which had a saints crest on it.

But this is what just made me feel ****ing sick today, when over near the northam "riot" I looked to my right and saw a group of teenagers, 13-15years old on the pitch, SMOKING!

How the **** is that possible?

also, why was there a small stampede from the Northam Itchen Corner during the invasion?

Put fag in mouth, light fag, smoke fag. It's really quite simple.

Yeah' date=' retards, on the pitch or are you related in some element?[/quote']

are you for real? so what if they were smoking on the pitch? what are you worried about.. that they might burn the grass?

blimey, all the **** going down in the world at the moment and you are worried about kids having a cheeky fag in the middle of a wide open space...

I cant believe no one is actually bothered by it, its not the fact what it could do.

Just be interesting if someone saw a skate having a cheeky fag at krap nottarf anf the things that would get said.

I don't think it's because they're not bothered by young people smoking on the pitch. It's just not the worse thing that's happened today. If the kids had been injecting heroin into their eyes, or dropping litter, you may have got more of a reaction.

Cracking example of how this forum operates. Someone posts... and the vast majority pick up on a single aspect of it, ignoring the bits they can't argue against.

I'll summarise for those who missed the point.

9 year old girl, thrown coin, stitches. Morons. Disgrace.

It's sad as most our fans are still the decent ones who've been there for years. I didn't see anything like this for 15 years or so. But the last few years it's been getting worse, mostly with embarassing kids thinking the club represents some sort of gang mentality. There are adults just as bad too. The seat next to me was empty until 85 minutes when a ****ed up guy of 40 or so sat there getting really angry and eager to get on the pitch (i was near the front). I asked him not to due to potential fines etc and got abuse, and at the final whistle I got pushed down as he wanted to get to the burnley fans quickly.

Throwing coins and bottles is pathetic and an absolute disgrace. It reflects on all of us, yet it's a minority of complete morons. What did burnley fans do? take the **** because we're going down? who wouldn't do that? we would in their situation. there were kids, families, and mainly just people there to watch their team, yet they have to put up with idiots launching coins at them. Not surprised they threw a few back.

Apologies to the Burnley fans hurt, I hope they aren't put off coming back should we play again, and I really hope action is taken against the people involved. Ok, might be hard to identify some, but they'll do it again, the trouble is getting more frequent and whoever buys the club must take action and ban these people from the ground. We got by just fine without these morons before and we'll be a far better club without them in the future.

So again we have someone slagging of our fans for throwing coins, then say "Not surprised they (Burnley) threw them back"! Get of Saints fans back, ffs, either its out of order to throw coins (which i think it is) or its not! You can't say "my mate got stabbed, so his brother stabbed him, which is understandable"!!!!

Sort it out, there were loads of Burnley 'lads' looking for trouble before, during and after the game!!!

Of course, I agree. However, if you read the OP again it does sound as though he/she is more upset by the smoking for some reason.

Fffing how, haven't you heard the saying "2 wrongs don't make a right"? There's no excuse.

Our club could die and a minority of these so called fans could have put the final nail in the coffin.

Over reaction? Not according to Mark Fry:

Adding to Saints' worries is the pitch invasion at the end of Saturday's 2–2 draw at home to Burnley, which saw home supporters throw objects at the visiting fans and exposes the club to a possible fine from the Football Association. "I just hope they don't punish us for that as well because the club has to find a buyer and any further threat of punishment will not help us to do that," said Mark Fry, the joint administrator.

Read my post again please mate.

My comments are made to another poster who said he could understand why Burnley fans threw stuff back at Saints fans. My point was to him justifying Burnley fans actions but slating Saints fans, I clearly say that I think any coin throwing is out of order!
