I have a feeling that the mood changed very quickly when it was discovered that a Pompey fan, complete with shirt was seen in amongst the Burnley fans.

Was there just one, or did a number get tickets to gloat? I saw a guy in a Pompey top get slung out and there was a lot of anger from the Itchen section nearest the away fans, particularly as "Play up Pompey" was sung.

Was this the reason for the minor and I mean, minor, crowd trouble...?

Doubt it, as the guy got escorted out so there wouldn't have been that particular man to have a pop at.

Agreed though, he was a tit. He was just sitting there all contempt with himself and he didn't react to us at all, barely even looked at us which probably wound us up even more.

YOU SKATE BASTARD.

Watching the lads follow him out from the itchen filled me with joy....I just knew he was going to get his ****in head kicked in.........sorry if that comment is soo bad, but **** em...****s

probably just a burnley fan who thought it would be funny to wear a skate shirt, the same thing happened at reading a few months back.......a sad little bloke who thought he was the life and soul of the party wearing a skate shirt.

Hi Mr Missile, there was one in the Kingsland too; well not a skate as such, more of an expatriate scouser... no colours though.

Well i hope all you in the Kingsland gave him what for!!!

Hopefully he was hit with a flask and covered with a blanket!!

They're very quiet in there aren't they? Next time I go I'll try and get in one of the noisier areas.

I think its wonderful that in our hour of need our nearest neighbours are willing to help keep our club afloat by buying tickets to come and see us. When it happens to them in a sesaon or two I would like to think that we will be able to repay the favour....

The last time skates turned up their game was off we played man city at the Dell early 80's .the city fans kicked them during the game and we kicked them all the way back to the station. some on here may not like it but Happy Days.

According to a Burnley forum they claim there was at least 4 Skates in their section and hardly disguising the fact.

Sat on each others laps or was it the 6 fingers that gave them away?

On a Burnley forum I had a cheeky look at, one Burnley fan said there was around 20 skates in there...

Well if there were they hid themselves away before and after the game pretty well, and the one thrown out didn't look like he could do much damage to anyone, meekly putting on his jacket when told to and leaving when asked without a sideways glance.

Was told a couple of days ago by a pompey work colleague that a few skates were planning to attend the game in order to celebrate our relegation, but the 10 point deduction ruined their plans.

well a couple of hundred quid from any source is welcome, a generous effort and kind of touching that they bothered.

Did they have the same look on their faces as they did on the Fratton End when little Nathan popped back for community service and knocked them out of the cup?

''Shhhh'', I believe he said, and they did go quiet.

As quiet as they did when Steve Moran scored....

And when Crouchie rolled the penalty in.

And when Beattie invited them to be quiet.

And when they got hammered in the cup at the Dell.

And when Dodd put that corner in.

And when Kevin Phillips headed that winner.

Funny how they could do so much silence but couldn't manage it when it really mattered for Ted.

Oh well.

Thanks for the cash.

I'm sure I saw more than one skate being removed from the stand. And it could be that there was a feeling that the Burnley crowd was indeed swelled by skates come to gloat. For one thing, there were only four Burnley coaches, less than normal for a largish away crowd.

They have made plenty mistakes like that in the past haven't they, Bristol Rovers and Millwall spring to mind!

Another thread has been started - by Ian the Red called 'Interesting Comments from Burnley Fans' - Worth having a read regarding the skates causing trouble.

Sounds like Burnley fans did us proud by knocking a skate's teeth out for throwing a smoke bomb and then getting him kicked out.
