For the first time in years I've got a big smile on my face.

Sorry Dave, nothing can cheer me up tonight. My club has been relegated, we have to win 3 games next year and get a draw before we even register a point.I wandered onto the pitch at the end of the game to get a feel of the atmosphere, not the same as the goose bumps i got from walking onto the Dell pitch, the club died today and nothing you can say to me is going to make it feel any better.Sorry mate.

Yes I feel much the same.

It's devastating to think that the team has sunk to such depths.

I'm really not looking forward to next season, especially with the idiots that run the league handicapping us before the first KO.

Clear out the kids? Who are you including in that? Surely not Lloyd James, Lancashire, McGoldrick, Gillett (is he still a youngster?), Jospeh Mills, McLaggon or Paterson? Some of these players could be brilliant in League One and haven't actually done too bad this season - just thrown in at the deep end too early.

Agreed keep some of the kids and play two or three with experienced players.

I want to see 2-3 kids ( mainly competing for a bench place) being eased into a team of men Saf.

A new manager may help bring them back on again... but frankly they can go back to the reserves on the whole.

Gillett, DMG (if he grows up) and Size are the only ones I would consider for a starting line up... if we have the money to buy new players. Apart from that our kids are League 2 standard.

Size won't be here next season sadly.

I am pleased for you that you can take all this in your stride and by the way i did not say anything about automatically deserving to be in the top flight. The club did die for me today, if that is silly then so be it, but don't you dare accuse me of over-reacting.This football club has been a large portion of my life for many years, and if you are prepared to get-used to playing in the third tier of English football then carry on.

We all have a take on this.

The Saints have been part of my life 40 years, and its cost me a fortune in the process. Worth every penny.

But in my time Man city, Sheff weds, Wolves, Leeds, forest, Villa, skates, amongst others have been in the third tier, It happens. its happened to us because of lousy management and the financial calamity of losing PL status without a sugar daddy.

The club needs a new start, and whateever stability it can get.We will be climbing back up soon, but patience is needed.

looking forward to day 1 of the next season. (hopefully there WILL be a day one).

Someone asked what the capital of Peru was, as Derry said don't ask me questions. The answer is Lima.

I did give him a clue, the old 15th century house down from the cathedral but obviously nobody is as well travelled.

Gutted that we have gone down to the third tier October 59 was my first game, we were in the third tier then so I will celibrate 50 years in the third tier. At least we know where we are now and lets hope there is a buyer after what has got to be the worst season in our history.

The Administrator said the interested parties had an NDA and he was not abe to identify them. It works both ways. No one knows who the parties are so stop looking and wait and see.

I am very hopeful we will survive as a club. Things are moving quickly but as yet the preferred bidder has not been identified by the Administrator. Middle of next week is my guess but it might take longer. He has said there are two who have proved funds wth another possibility.

Patience is a virtue

All I ask is that whoever buys the Club does so asap. Not only to safeguard the future of the Club but to ensure that the manager can make decisions on players, rather than players forcing his hand. I think we need decisions on Perry, Davis, Size etc asap and need to have a strong position with Clubs coming in for our better players to ensure a fair price is achieved.

I'd be very surprised if it doesn't happen in the next two weeks, the two bidders could slow it down a bit.

There will be a clearout of management and players, with the sort of money put up front these people aren't messing about.

I just hope they don't go for celebrity management but go for proven quality.

I'm so glad that they have such a test.

How on earth could anyone have worried that Rupert would have squeezed his sorry arse back into the club?

The only thing that he's "fit and proper" for would require a large elephant and an even larger jar of vaseline.

I wouldn't give the Elephant vasaline, let him **** Rupert dry.

This non-stop fascination with trawling the Directors box for a few Sardines, finally I understand what Cantona was on about

If you were in the directors box scoping everything out for the biggest game of the season Phil, you would be targeted as a new owner as well as manager lol!!!!!!!

I also hope they do not think that simply paying players big money is the solution. The past 3 years should at least have taught us that.

Players with a passion and desire to win/succeed/point to prove are what we will need.

No point throwing yet more good money after bad just for the sake of it. We will need more of the same should we go up so don't spend it all getting out of L1

Today we reached rock bottom when the penalty was missed and the game was drawn.

Sod the minus ten points we may or may not get, it's irrelevant, from today we can finally look forward to a rosy future.

In my opinion in a short while we will have new owners, no debt, a stadium that if another match was never played there, will pay for itself.

A football club that will have the best gates/income/costs in any division of the football league. New management, almost a completely new squad, a much lower wage bill, completely self sustaining and profitable.

If the right management is brought in in May, the squad brought together before pre season, possibly some quality loans, then we can look forward to a cracking season.

Don't ask me any questions I Don't know the answer. However for the first time in years I feel very happy tonight.

I feel confident the takeover will happen sooner rather than later.

I'm glad that you are happy ....... so you don't mind that Lowe is coming back for the Third time ???

Your posts derry, over the last 4 weeks have been very interesting. I have been very impressed by the way that you have managed to get the idea of a fans's bid going - albeit only as a last resort in the event that no buyer comes forward.

Have you now stopped your fans's bid activities? Are you so confident that we will get a buyer that SOS can be wound up? Or do you continue to plan to have meetings with the likes of the Saints Trust "just in case" a fan's bid is still likely to be required?

I will be mighty surprised if we don't know the identity of the party undergoing "fit and proper persons" by the middle of the week, someone will leak it from the League/Football Association.

Then cue the "sky sources understand that......are in talks too buy Southampton Football Club" news ticker on SSN.

Hey, airmiles are precious, why waste them on the DB. Watching the lads playing on the common or Fleming Park, now that would be more helpful, but then I'd still have had to make 2 trips as I have a nice round of golf booked on Wednesday

I think you might find we will be debt free, why would we need a CVA as the club is not in administration and the overdraft and the debts are the clubs and probably will be settled in full.

SLH has assets but little debt which will be sorted by the buyout and the purchase of the stadium.

I doubt very much that this post is correct.

Nonetheless, I am still strangely optimistic.

Then you should go onto google and do a bit of research on insolvency.

I would be interested to know why a solvent trading company would need a CVA.

Furthermore, SLH owns the lodge, SMS, the farm, staplewood. SFC owns nothing and has £6m in debts inc the overdraft, and is being kept going by the creditors waiting for their money. They will get a lot more if the company doesn't go into administration, however as it has these liabilities it couldn't fund administration and would be wound up immediately.

Get it now, if we are not bought in the next three weeks it's over.

Christ, talk about over-reacting. We're in the third tier of English football, get used to it. Just because we're Southampton it doesn't mean we automatically deserve to be in the top flight. Yes, we're all upset and distraught at what's happened over the last few years and especially today, but suggest the club has "died" is just silly.

Like economies, football clubs go up and down, and we're in a bad patch at the moment. We'll be back one day - blimey you never know, we might even have fun in League One.

Lets Have Fun In League One!!!! Thats the slogan man!

Half of the Marketing job done for them - (again!)

Interesting theory, personally I can see us being in a lower division next season with 10 points fewer than everyone else, which is clearly lower than being 23rd in the CCC - and that's the positive slant on it. We're going to be bottom of League One for at least a month even if we win our first 4 games, and when did we ever do things like that ? Still, could be worse, we might not exist at all in a week or so...

Col, I hope you are feeling better. I still feel numb......90 odd players in the last 4 years and I reckon another or 10 or 15 will depart at the end of the season. I'd settle for a consolidation season where we stabilise and then start to build

Yes i'm feeling a lot more positive now than i did on Saturday night.I had a couple of beers that seemed to help with my mood.Anyway agree , consolidation season would be fine and let's be fair starting with -10 points a mid table position would be respectable.I am hoping for better, and i am liking the little snippets of information that are permeating through the fog of relegation.Who knows Lance, we may even enjoy next season.:)

I'm the same - oddly positive. Though we have slipped down into league 1 and got a -10 penalty I get the feeling the club is more unified than it has been since Strachan left. The kids are a year better and with some gd new players should have every chance of doing well and hopefully the -10 an give us a siege mentality.

If we can get some momentum and confidence up who knows? Bristol City got promoted from league 1 and reached the championship play offs the next season (missing out on automatic in the last few games), Swansea almost did it this year and Peterborough and Leicester will have a gd chance as well I reckon.

Settled clubs, full of confidence and with stability = success. Got my fingers crossed that Saints will be described like that shortly cos lets face it those words haven't been used for Saints in years.

One of the "bidders" is undertaking the "fit and proper persons" test early next week with the League/Football Association.

They however are not the only runners in this "race"

Then we're doomed to being taken over by a gun-runner and tax-dodger.

I'm hoping it's a done deal and we can stand down. An understanding is in place to mount a rescue bid, I am in contact with Nick Illingsworth.

In the present circumstances there is little we can do but monitor events.

Why has no-one mentioned what happened to Luton, Rotherham or Bournemouth? If the club/SLH (same thing in my book) don't exit administration the right way we'll get docked more than 10 points.

Also if new owners didn't come forward in times of plenty who believes we'll get good ones in times of famine.

Other than that life is wonderful. PS: My wife was born in Lima - do I win an extra prize!
