Jillyanne Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 The police were out of their stupid minds bringing dogs on to the pitch. The whole atmosphere in the northam turned very bitter. How dare the police treat us in that way. Snarling, ferocious dogs lined up against us. Christ this country is turning into a fascist state before our eyes. Unbelievable. I have no respect left for the police. What - I was in block 33 in the Kingsland and I can assure you the dogs were hardly 'snarling or ferocious', they were also being goaded by the fans in the Northam. That is the only reason they were barking and nothing else, they would not have been any danger at all unless the handling officers had TOLD them to act. To be fair to the police as soon as the Northam lot ran on to the pitch (and indeed straight towards the Burnley fans) they took the dogs away. Amesbury Saint Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 what happened was wrong. But the Police tactics were very poor. From block 35 I had a good view and the Police / Stewards positioning was all wrong. The introduction of the dogs, prior to teh invasion, just made things worse. Bristol_Benji Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Watched it all from Itchen Block 5. Absolutely disgraceful. Don't balme the Burnley fans, don't blame the Police, don't blame the Stewards. This was mindless home supporters. With that and the result you would think I am sad but I am not. We are nearly there and we do have a future. Things are moving fast. I am not able to say more, nor do I know the identity of either of the two parties who have proved substantial funds. Prepare for league one people i agree. saw it from the kingsland. And the yellow missle thing was thrown by burnley, but then we threw one back. From where i was standing we through a lot more than them. Mindless idiots at a completely stupid time when we're trying to gain good publicity for the club. I really am fed up with some of the pathetic yoofs that have inflltrated what used to be a great set of supporters. I really hope none of them are turning up at Forest next week. If there's any footage available, i hope anyone who threw anything is banned. ****s.

Really disappointed with some of our fans today, especially after all that good singing. We can't blame anyone else except the fans that took to the pitch and moved directly to the away fans. I suspect it was the latter. Whilst it is wrong to be on the pitch, I can understand it and I have no problem with that. But I do I have a problem with the several hundred who ran straight over to the Burnley fans to goad them. It makes me laugh to read people saying that the police made it worse by bringing out 4-5 dogs in front of the Northam. I am sure the chavs involved weren't thinking we'll just get on the pitch peacefully, but now they've got police dogs out so lets try & have a fight with Burnley crowd? Lets hope that all involved are identified & given life bans from SMS. There is no excuse for what happened today.

red&white56 Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 It was clear that there were a lot of Saints fans in the Kingsland who were going on the pitch no matter what happened. But the incident at the Burnley end was really a bunch of kids shouting and throwing plastic bottles at one another. The police and stewards made a barrier in front of the Burnley fans and that allowed the lads to shout at one another and pretend to be "hard". What were we celebrating? I could totally understand it last year but why did you all seem so happy? What the hell where you thinking, Paul Wotton was badly injured and needed medical attention but you crowded around him like a bunch of lunatics. To make matters even worse I witnessed several 'fans', and I use that term very lightly, stealing 'memorabilia' from the ground, i.e, Southampton FC advertising hoardings, even a stool used by the stewards to sit on. What the hell is wrong with you? Thanks to you we didn't get a chance to say thank you to those that deserved it. The club is dying. Totally on its knees and you drag its name further into the mud. Raven on the wing Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Yellow flare clearly thrown from the Burnley end as were numerous projectiles which were subsequently returned. Provocative behaviour all round and by the Police who should have kept a lower profile given recent events. Pitch invasions are forbidden by the league so presumably the club will be penalised and so will every team that has got promoted or avoided relegation today who have cause to celebrate in that way !! The support today was otherwise top notch and hardly suprising feelings were running high as we failed to win a game we deserved to yet again. BallBoy Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 There is quite literally no excuse for what these idiots did. Blaming the dogs, the police, the stewards, the Burnley fans, the referee, the Prime Minister etc just demonstrates the attituude they have to life. It is NEVER their fault!! It was the morionic fans who decided to go on the pitch and they also decided to goad the Burnley fans. Nobody made the decision for them and I assume they all had sufficient control of their own legs to prevent them from doing those things. Or did the police etc grab them and force them to go. Wasn't being relegated bad enough for these prats. They just bring shame on the club with their mindless actions. We have enough problems without these morons adding to them. I'm with you on this Lordswood Saint. It has been an awful season. Micky Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Wasn't there, didn't see it. But just reading this thread makes my stomach turn when I see the amount of people who post here and accept (not necessarily defend), but still accept, that this pitch invasion was no big deal. You appear unconcerned that we have that much of a hooligan element - this is the norm - is it? This club is reaching the depths in management and on the pitch - we are going down faster than the Titanic. Many on here have said that the (some) fans should take responsibility for thier part in our demise; those with such views have been met with ridicule by many. And now this happens - I take it all our fans are blameless though? We are reaching the depths of dispair, this club needs an overhaul from top to bottom and perhaps some of it's 'followers' should also realign their thinking too. There is post upon post on this forum about how proud people are to support this club - well I seriously wonder. Fans are the life blood of any clubs fortunes, and if you are not part of the solution then you can only be part of the problem - which are those that invaded the pitch? Proud to be a Saints fan - not tonight I'm afraid - bloody ashamed if truth be known.

WTF was the point I spoke to mate of mine who is a copper who said that was classed as a major disorder. If the ref chooses to report it then we might end up with a punishment from the FA. So fine or more points deduction something we can do with out. I have to say I have not seen anything like it for years, especially not being instigated by our own fans and especially at home! What a great advert for our club! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4320488.Fans_clash_as_Saints_are_relegated/ I agree. It was truly pathetic. I left ashamed.
