david in sweden Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Mr. Fry said... Well whoever ends up buying the club, they surely intend to do some sort of big investment. Logically, who would lay out millions (even to buy a bankrupted club possibly in League 1,) and then run it with a squad of Academy lads and maybe get only in 10,000 crowds ? NO ! I can see that (whichever league were in, new owners will have a manager they really have faith in, and a " new team " containing some former internationals..and a few " names " - (even if they are experienced and over 30). Things look pretty black just now, BUT new owners willing to invest ...aren't likely to sit back and wait for " something " to happen.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 +1 I believe good times are just around the corner.
aintforever Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 If we get brought out by people looking to invest then, even with -10, we will be in a better situation than if Lowe and the PLC were still here.

Window Cleaner Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 +1 I believe good times are just around the corner. I believe at least one of the old lags will be lurking in those two candidate consortia. Crouch is my favourite for that role. He just won't leave it alone. looking forward to next season though -10 is nothing.
crouchi Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 It's really hard to see why anyone would want to buy a debt of £10 million plus, with a 24 million pound mortgage to service and operating costs > revenue. Love to know who the potential buyers, they must be total loonies!
Give it to Ron Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Has anyone else of an Indian consortium looking to buy us? Have heard from 2 different sources today.
thorpie the sinner Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 i think at the moment, I will settle for being bought!!
saint lard Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Has anyone else of an Indian consortium looking to buy us? Have heard from 2 different sources today. Yes,Anil Ambani, but would be truly surprised, as well as chuffed if it were him,or even his brother.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 So we'd go from being one of the poorest clubs in the world to one of the richest (the Ambani's are 5th & 6th richest men in the world). I'm liking that dream...

hypochondriac Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Has anyone else of an Indian consortium looking to buy us? Have heard from 2 different sources today. Credible sources or bull**** sources?
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 It's really hard to see why anyone would want to buy a debt of £10 million plus, with a 24 million pound mortgage to service and operating costs > revenue. Love to know who the potential buyers, they must be total loonies! I bet you they won't have to pay that amount - Aviva and Barclays will take whatever the best offer is; better than getting sweet FA. Same principle as the news story today that the world famous Acme whistle company (makes referee's whistles) was able to get a new peice of equipment usually costing £80K at £5K because the previous owner went into admininstration. Admin is a way that a buyer can pick the club up on the cheap.
Give it to Ron Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Credible sources or bull**** sources? Not credible not bull**** just 2 totally different Saints fans I know texting me saying they have heard this and had I heard it as well. Not the sort to hear idle gossip - they dont use forums and dont know each other. Just a wait and see I guess but just threw this out there to see if anyone else had heard it.
miserableoldgit Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Has anyone else of an Indian consortium looking to buy us? Have heard from 2 different sources today. I believe it to be Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and Geronimo but I am not ITK or anything.
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Yes,Anil Ambani, but would be truly surprised, as well as chuffed if it were him,or even his brother. Just imagine how good the food will be!!!!
supergoose Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I reckon Crouch will be involved with one of the interested parties.
miserableoldgit Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I reckon Crouch will be involved with one of the interested parties. O.K. Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Geronimo AND Crouch!
saint lard Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I reckon Crouch will be involved with one of the interested parties. I sincerely hope not. Out with the old,and all that.
St Lightjaw Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 It's really hard to see why anyone would want to buy a debt of £10 million plus, with a 24 million pound mortgage to service and operating costs > revenue. Love to know who the potential buyers, they must be total loonies! Depends really. If you're looking to assett strip the club, then maybe it's a worthwhile medium to long term investment. I don't understand building regs tbh, and what conditions sms was built on. And i don't understand the full ins and outs of Jackson's Farm (I haven't been paying attention have I !!!). But you could easily shut stands down at sms to reduce operating costs for a few years and run from a very low wage budget. Sell what we've got in talent (lol!!!), to pay the mortgage. Just keep it ticking over until the economy looks a bit better and then develop on the land? If we're "real" for a moment, then you're kinda spot on crouchi. We're either dealing with loonies (god bless you!) .... or "investors" that want something in return.
S4INT Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 ... looking forward to next season though -10 is nothing. You're one of those people that sings "EASY EASY EASY" when we go 1-0 up at home after 20 minutes. And sung: "WE ARE STAYING UP" after we took the lead at Watford You people scare me!
saint lard Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Richard Hunter, head of equites at Hargreaves Lansdown?

If they wanted Jacksons Farm they wouldn't have to bid for the football club. The chances of them closing the stadium down and getting planning permission to develop the land are very remote, even in this age of brown envelopes.
Arizona Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I think having Lowe was a -20 penalty on any season. I certainly reckon we'd be 20 points better off if we'd gone with the Pearson/Saga/Rasiak policy at the start of the season instead of the Portaloo/Wotte/Pulis/Gasmi/Schneiderlin/Forecast/Smith/Robertson/Pekhart policy. IF we get some half decent investment, I'd be looking forward to next season a damn sight more than I did this one.

He just won't leave it alone. looking forward to next season though -10 is nothing. Hmmmm. If I were offered my choice of old lag to still be involved, Crouch would be the least worst choice. A clean sweep is what is really required to united the fan base and allow old scars to heal.......

SFC Forever Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I am more confident now and that is because we know exactly where we stand. If I was going to bid for the club I would tell everyone to accept punishment and start preparing for the title chase.

In that case ... we're dealing with loonies then ! Or some very well meaning saints fans who have borrowed money from the Kray family ... and we're all going to get our knee caps smashed in 3 seasons time if we're not making money (metaphorically speaking). Either way, god bless them
