captainchris Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 A friend of my dad was playing golf with Harry Redcrap last week, and they were talking about Saints. Apparently old saggy face said "Oh don't worry about southampton - a good friend of mine who is worth millions is about to buy them, they'll be better than alright" Not saying this is 100% but this guy had no reason to lie. Fantastic news. I love this story, we are going to be ok. I just heard in the pub that Paul Allen was seen leaving the ground this afternoon and it was catagoric so no problems - relax everyone we will be ok................. SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 This has probably been asked and answered elsewheer so apoogies if it has but... ...will any potential buyers be buying the PLC or the club? I assume the club. And if they are just buying the club, does this also include purchasing the stadium? Cheers

Cheers As, St. Marys Stadium Company(think it is called that) is a different company from Southampton FC Ltd(again, think it is called that), if you buy the Southampton FC Ltd, then no, the stadium is not included I would assume. Amesbury Saint Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Know someone who is involved with the club, and heard today that out of the 30ish or so actual takeover thingys, 4 or 5 were serious. That we know of course... BUT I also learnt that one has gone far enough that the person involved has got the solicitors involved to get all the fine points of the deal ready for completion. Surely, if the holding company is in administration then all of its assets are open to offers, including the Stadium company? I assume that it goes like this: The football club must be sold. All other assets are up for sale. There are buyers who are interested. Mark Fry must get the best deal for the creditors. By that reckoning a buyer will be found. All that remains is the haggling over the price.

derry Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 It's a no brainer, the stadium will never be cheaper and without football could make a profit on it's own. I would expect whichever of the bidders succeed, to buy SLH including all it's assets.

Give it to Ron Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 If anyone had real money the club would be sold by now. Why? People dont get rich throwing money away..a good businessman would wait and see what division we are in then pounce. The 2/3m he would save would be used far more wisely. It also takes time and not a 2 minute process, if you bought a house you would know at the pace the legal eagles work at!
Mole Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 If anyone had real money the club would be sold by now. I don't buy this. Whoever buys the club will want to get it for the cheapest price possible. Even someone like Paul Allen would do this. The process is moving on as it should move on from the bits i've gleaned from here.

Wheel him in, he's about as straight up and down as all the owners/chairmen of the top Prem clubs. Football is not the Women's Institute, it's a business where wheeling and dealing and dodgy doing are the rule rather than the exception. Actually, no, they can't decide who owns us. They have no control over the shareholding of a club, only who is a Director of a football club. They can bar people from being club directors if they have recent convictions for relevant criminal offences including fraud and dishonesty, have been banned for misconduct from any other sports, or are undischarged bankrupts. Quite reasonable, IMO and makes them far from the c**ts you make them out to be.

Mmmm, only 'fit and proper' extends to just what's been pinned on someone... where their finance comes from, how many people have suffered in its generation and what the likely outcome of the total unbalance resulting from the use of that finance in the market for players is irrelevant to them though... I wouldn't say they were c's, but they are weak, myopic and remote from the reality of life for provincial clubs who were forced/encouraged to invest in Premiership infrastructure and then deprived of Premiership income. In short, they would be happiest if every club was owned by some rich foreign owner... now that doesn't present a long-term issue does it...
