We have just got to persuade Glenn Hoddle to come back and take us to the promised land.

LOL! You took your time! :)

No thanks. Hoddle and Wotte have a similar effect.... both divide the fan base. New neutral man needed.

I think those two are a bit ambitious, but there are names that I think aren't hat ambitious who I would think could get us into the play offs even with ten points (not easily, but possibly):

Lawrie Sanchez, Ian Holloway, Steve Cotterill (probably my first choice), Mark Robins, Paul Tisdale, Martin Allen.

Remember, we're a big club in L1 and can you see any of those names getting jobs much better than we can offer?

Depending on the ambition and pockets of the new owners (who knows they could be loaded) then your Boothroyds, Jewells and Inces could step forward, maybe. It's a long shot on a par with the Keegan at Fulham story.

But those others above, none of them would be first choice for getting us in the Prem, or even play offs in CCC, but from where we are next season, I'd take any of them.

Wotte can go. Let's start again. Again.

If we are to look for a new manager, and as many have commented it will be a matter of choice for any new owner, then I think your suggestions of Cotterill and Holloway are good ones as they have worked in that division and have enjoyed relative success (as well as disapointment) in the championship. Ditto Jewell.

However, perhaps its old fashioned but I would favour retaining Wotte. He has undoubtedly improved us after JP, is working with a poor squad and crucially KNOWS THE PLAYERS. I think we are crying out for some one to stay for a period of time and build a squad - in my opinion an average manager given 5 years is more likely to lead to success than 5 good managers given a year each as they just continue to chop and change

I've got very little confidence in this guy .

I'll credit him with getting us a good player in JPS and his squad selections seem sound enough on the whole but his all too obvious failure to inspire any sort of sustained fight against relegation from his players raises serious questions regarding his man management skills .

The way the last board treated Nigel Pearson was a disgrace so I'd like to see any new board keep an open mind and give the guy a proper interview without a predetermined outcome . Seeking the opinions of the senior players and experienced football men in and around the club would also be of great value . On balance I still think we can do better but it would be premature rule out the possibility of MW keeping the job entirely .

Whilst there is a slim chance he may come good (although personal view is that he won't) my instinct is to say that he is too linked to the past and if we do not get a decent start next year to reach zero point within 4 or 5 games things will turn on him. For those reasons

Personally would go for Alex Ferguson - I've heard he has been a reasonable success at United and perhaps he fancies a new challenge! ;) :)

Let's hope Mark Fry's optimism is justified and, as long as the new owners aren't a bunch of opportunist chancers, then I'm sure they'll sweep out all the dross. That will mean bye bye Wotte and Gorre and I'll be only too happy to get behind whoever ends up in charge.

I'm ambivalent either way.

I would rather leave it to our new Owners/Board to decide whatever they think is best for the club.

Yep.

I lean a little towards getting someone with good experience of this level and good contacts to secure signings and loans

Absolutely clueless. The Charlton game was the worst display of management I've seen in over 50 years.

Today ran it close. The only time Lallana came within 5 yds of the touchline, plays James in on the overlap, cross from the byeline we outnumber the back pedaling defence on the far post and we get an easy goal.

Did we try it again no it was a fluke everybody just happened to be out of position in the immaculate diamond.

We are 2-1 up get a penalty, scuffer grabs the ball, everybody lets him get on with it, he lines up 45 degrees off the line everybody including the bloody pigeons knew it was going right, you couldn't make it up.

Saeijs or Surman, not McGoldrick, he scuffs his shots apart from the swinger he scored v Palace.

The substitutions were bizarre two on the wrong side. How Wotton even started let alone got a three year contract is unbelievable.

We reached rock bottom today. I've got a big smile on my face and I'm looking forward to next season without the bulk of this squad. Believe me we are on our way.

It is important that the new owner(s) have *their* man in place - whoever he may be. I hope they do not let themselves be swayed by fan message boards or supporter groups.

It is time for us to act as a professional club again and not be the plaything of egomaniacs or have the owners buffeted around by the conflicting wishes of fans and their groups - however well intended.

We need a manager that knows the game and can bring in the players he wants.

But then we had one of those, his side are currently leading Man U 2-0 at Old Trafford, but we imposed Sir Clive FkinWoodward on him and ****ed him off. .

He may well be able to cut it in League 1 although I've seen little to suggest he's the man for the job either in team selection, tactics and particularly the lack of motivation he seems to be able to impart into the team.

That just about sums it up for me.

If I had a choice, I would get rid of & go for someone like Boothroyd.

Wotte has been responsible for some poorly motivated sides & his tactics / selections are dubious. The 2nd half today was an example of him not influencing the team in a positive manner.

He brought on Ryan Smith again............sorry still not convinced.......although to be fair Ryan did better than he normally does.Still managed to send a cross into the Chapel end, when handily placed.Sorry Mark...........bye.

Agreed. Smith is pacey, does a couple of good things then ****s up. Happens everytime.

Can't wait for Wotte to be kicked out so we can start the clear out.

What are peoples opinions on Wottes position come the end of the season? How would you feel if the new owners decided to keep him on?

HELL NO!!

I think people would stay away. He'd actually cost us money.

Five years ago I had an infection. Serious infection.

The surgeon told me he would have to cut out not just the infection but also, quite deeply around it too in order to ensure that what was left was beautiful fresh, clean tissue.

Cheerio Mark, thanks for nowt.

Wotte is a better manager than Poortvliet. That's the best thing you can say about him. He's not up to the job and new owners should give him the boot and appoint someone like Boothroyd, Ince or Dowie i.e. men with proven track records of doing well in the Football League. The line has to be drawn under Lowe and Wilde's utter failure of a season.

He isnt a better manager. He has just had the restricctions of a club youth policy lifted from his selection criteria. Wotte is actually a proven failure - now relegating his second club. JP actually promoted the Dutch club he relegated so... in terms of rules and pressure this season and track record JP is actually a better manager.... and we know how good he was.

Need a manager who knows League 1 and knows a lot of players in and around the league who can add steel to our team, qualities that are needed to get out of the League.....in the right direction.

A Boothroyd, Cotterill or as someone as suggested Alan Knill would be the sort of person needed, someone to put some disipline into the younger ones......but most of all GET THEM FIT !! A game lasts 90 mins, not 60 (Bradley !! )

Fair point about the youth policy, but I still think that Wotte has got more out of the side than Poortvliet did. His team selections have been more consistent, we've scored more goals per game with him in charge and he's made more logical substitutions (who can forget Perry's reaction to being subbed against Doncaster?), but broadly speaking he is also responsible for this terrible season. I won't shed any tears when he's gone and, like Poortvliet, is back in Low Countries obscurity.

He is cheap at £100,000 a year but tactically naive when it comes to English football. I am hearing rumours (not directly from players or their families I must emphasise) that many of the players are getting fed up with his diamond system and how they are supposed to play it.

That fits with what we are now seeing on the pitch during games...clueless and vunerable to wide attacking opposition players. Midfield left and right in the diamond being isolated and kept out of the game by the long ball!

May be that is why Lallana is not developing, and goood players like Surman and Schneiderlin look poor when they are put into those positions.

What is worse, he does not seem to have learned from the poor performances.

New owner must mean new Manager (not a coach) in my opinion

I notice they abandoned that formation for today,at last.

As for Wotte,he has to go IMO.

And we DO NEEED a NEW manager.

Yesterday we saw what a difference motivation can make to a team. OK, so we still missed chances - that's a little bit about confidence and a lot about training and in the inherent quality of our players.

But motivation is about management.

It should not take a league deduction or facing the impossible for a team to be motivated.

It should be about approaching every game with the same positive intent and hunger to win.

I hate to mention his name, but that's exactly what a certain young English manager instilled in his Leicester side this season.

Wotte was part of the busted flush. His tactics have been questionable and when he finally hit on a solution (three wins in three games), he then set about changing the team, formation and tactics to ensure that it was a false dawn...

No, he has to go simple.

Totally agree! Just want this to be resolved asap! we need to start planning now, not at the end of June!!

Sorry for dumping this on the the end of this thread, I can't create my own topics....

Anyway, yesterday, I went to Millwall vs Leyton Orient... I was working up in the city and finsihed early and a chap I work with suggested we pop along to watch his mighty 'wall play. Not having anything else to do I duly accepted.. "why not?" I thought, "it might be a luagh!"

Life next season will be far worse than you can possibly imagine.

Things that I learned

1: No one goes to watch a match. Especially away fans. Expect 250 tops to turn out from the away fans.

2: Rascicm seems to be perfectly acceptable. I don't think i've ever been in a ground (recently) where someone shouts out "fCK OFF YOU **** CNTS" and everyone around me laughs....

3: I love to use the word cnt. It's a great word. I've never heard it shouted so many times by so many people for so many reasons.

4: The football will be crap. It will be very very direct. It will be very very ugly. Any fancy dan kids are going to get hospitalised after 30 seconds.

5: We will need to splash some cash (that we don't have) to get out of the division as the current team will get steamrollered by the sheer physicality of the game.

6: Life may not be worth living.

Ho hum.......

I fear that's a problem you get with Millwall, rather than most League One clubs. The number of away fans depends on who you're playing. But as we've got a Prem size stadium and facilities, and we are a big club, or relatively a big club anyway, more away fans will turn up to SMS.

New manager please that will loan/beg/borrow players that are suited to the division we are in.

Wotte no matter what the luvvies try and say WAS part of the set up here since the start of the season. He was part of the set up that bought in Forecast, Gasmi, Pulis, Pekhart, Robertson, Molyneux and Smith that wasted all those loan/agent/signing fees.I am not sure about Sideways Jim as I am not convinced he is a League 1 manager with his brand of football.

Ince, Jewell, Boothroyd or Cotterill for me but think wages will rule out a few of those. I have heard nothing but good things about Tisdale but worry that he may not be ready for a club of our size like Sturrock at that time....if we survive that is.

Totally agree with this, we will need to have a major clear out and the key then is to get the right sort of player in for the 3rd div level !

I have no confidence that Wotte is the man for this !
