itchen Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Sorry if this has already been covered (I couldn't see it) but the last paragraph of this article in today's Grauniad is interesting: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/apr/24/southampton-championship-10-point-penalty
exit2 Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Well I have been told that Stuart Green has resigned from his post as Director at Centerprise in Basingstoke and has had several meetings with Mark Fry. I dont beleive he could do this on his own so must be part of a consortitum. So if true who knows.
alpine_saint Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Can we shut the f**k up with damaging speculation lest we put someone off ?
itchen Posted 24 April, 2009 Author Posted 24 April, 2009 Can we shut the f**k up with damaging speculation lest we put someone off ? Yep. I can see the scene now: I've carried out my analysis and can see a way of making the club profitable and successful, here's my £x million. Oh hang on, somebody's speculating on a message board. That's it, I'm out of here. Honestly, Alpine, it's only last week you were berating the administrator for "not doing his f***ing job properly."

That's it, I'm out of here. Honestly, Alpine, it's only last week you were berating the administrator for "not doing his f***ing job properly." Well now its clear he has. And having heard him for the first time yesterday, I was impressed. Cant a bloke change his mind, especially as the first comments were borne out of natural impatience and frustration ? So why dont we shut up and let him get on with it as quickly as possible ?
alpine_saint Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 alpine just has to be able to moan and whinge on every thread, regardless of if he is contradicting himself or (as always) totally wrong. No, its called "changing your mind". Havent you got a dirty raincoat to wash or some school gates to hang about ?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 (edited) I think you will find the two consortiums may have discussed "merging". It would make perfect sense as it appears both "complement" each other and combined make a promising group with both funds and expertise, both of course we very much need. bungle Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 No, its called "changing your mind". Havent you got a dirty raincoat to wash or some school gates to hang about ? An interesting conclusion you have drawn there. Excellent. Fits in with everything you say being totally wrong, though.
saints_is_the_south Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I was told last night that there are rumours circulating in the Lymington area that Leon Crouch is setting up a consortium to buy the club & pay off the clubs overdraft whilst the council will buy the stadium. Mark Fry said yesterday that he was currently in talks with 2 serious parties so perhaps it could be these 2, who knows.
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 No, its called "changing your mind". Havent you got a dirty raincoat to wash or some school gates to hang about ? No,,,it's called gobbing your moany, whingning mouth off over something you knew nothing about and then looking a total ***t. HTH.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Complement, I hope... duly edited and apologies for sloppy spelling.

hughieslastminutegoal Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 "But the Football League ruled that the holding company, the stadium company and the football club were "inextricably linked as one economic entity" and only became insolvent when the football club's debts were taken into account." -- So SFC and the Stadium company are trading while insolvent even though they aren't in administration? That's odd.
Toomer Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 No, its called "changing your mind". Havent you got a dirty raincoat to wash or some school gates to hang about ? I would be inclined to retract that statement Alpine.
NickG Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Fry on solent this morning said the council may not be needed to buy the stadium now - only a back up - sounds positive if the buyers want that as well

Ownership by committee arrggghhh But if they bring 100 mil to the table and a plan for the CL then hurry up
saints_is_the_south Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Fry on solent this morning said the council may not be needed to buy the stadium now - only a back up - sounds positive if the buyers want that as well That sounds extremley positive.

NickG Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 agree about Wotte (without starting another manager for next season/what went wrong this season), he came across as professional and to have genuine feelings for the club. Said he wanted to stay as manager in league 1, to be able to build a team

Junior Mullet Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Sure I heard Mark Fry on SSN last night saying that there was a very 'suitable'/'appropriate' (or something along those lines) bidder in advanced stages. I would expect to see some development in the next fortnight, knowing how these things go. I fully expect Crouch to be part of any consortium purchasing the club. But please god, don't let him be Chairman again!!!! As someone else has said, he's a good guy but not the brightest spark.

slickmick Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Can someone explain to me, that if a buyer honours our debts in full, what would the situation be regarding the football league and our points deduction ? Clearly the points deduction is to try and stop clubs from profiting by gaining a financial advantage. If the Football League can move the goal posts once then why not again ?
Paul Chuckle Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 can someone explain to me what Due Dillegence is? Is it when the potential buyer has proved they have the funds to buy the club and are now checking the business they wish to purchase books and records? Then after that do they make an offer for the club????

Cant a bloke change his mind, especially as the first comments were borne out of natural impatience and frustration ? So why dont we shut up and let him get on with it as quickly as possible ? If you think that all the truths, lies, supposition and pure bollix being spouted on this forum is going to divert anyone from buying us then you're dreaming. Also, if you are correct, then they are not really the type of people we would wish for at the helm of the club?

Is it when the potential buyer has proved they have the funds to buy the club and are now checking the business they wish to purchase books and records? Clearly the points deduction is to try and stop clubs from profiting by gaining a financial advantage. If the Football League can move the goal posts once then why not again ? think rule was bought in to stop clearing debts, it might assist the will of the league to fight an appeal if we are down already.

I hope this is right, but if this is the case one lesson from the last regime's farce must be taken: ONE LEADER. ONE MAN WITH VISION MUST NOW LEAD THIS CLUB. ONE MAN WITH A PASSION FOR SUCCESS. Oh hang on, somebody's speculating on a message board. That's it, I'm out of here. Honestly, Alpine, it's only last week you were berating the administrator for "not doing his f***ing job properly." I agree fully with alpine. This is nothing to do with football at all, it's a business decision and in business speculation can put potential buyers/investors off. So if it breaks out on a forum that someone is going to buy a business and that is spread by word of mouth, the interested party could well be put off. Has happened plenty of times in the city.

That makes for some good reading Duncan thanks. I did wonder whether this might end up as a possibility. My only hope is that the two groups don't cancel each other out in the negotiations and we end up with neither.

Beggars can't be chooser and all that, but i do hope there won't be clashes of personalities like we've seen for the past few years. SFC needs to be put first.

Verbal Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 agree about Wotte (without starting another manager for next season/what went wrong this season), he came across as professional and to have genuine feelings for the club. Said he wanted to stay as manager in league 1, to be able to build a team I'm sure that if Crouch comes back - and it seems he is - he'll want to dispose of Wotte. But this will hardly be on a par with Lowe/Wilde's ditching of Pearson - although I expect some on here will want to to say otherwise. Wotte's record with us aside, he has absolutely no idea what it takes to succeed in League One. Hopefully we'll go with someone who knows how to build a side in much the same way that Swansea have done, and Hull before them. In any case, the takeover needs to happen NOW, because the rebuilding - which will be root-and-branch - needs to start asap. We can't afford to wait until the end of the summer to discover a team able to survive the drop into League Two.

This increases speculation and other names could be thrown in to the fold (like whats happened here) and that person could be put off.
