bjk Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 We cannot afford our usual terrible start to a league season next season,we must claw back the 10 points asap.I just hope we can keep a few of the experienced players and maybe add a few aswell and get off to a decent start and start climbing the league from our 4th game onwards.Has any club been promoted with a points deduction ?

Leeds got to the play-off final. That'll do for me next season! edit: Oh and if Rotherham had only started this season on -10 they probably would have been promoted automatically. Didn't Leeds get to the Championship play off Final and lost to Watford.
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 People have been going on about how important a flying start to the season is for years now, most recently the season following our last relegation. However, we know how SFC reacts to beginning of the season - like they've come back 4 weeks later than everyone else. Jeez, in 2007 we even started the season without centre-backs

Micky Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 We could have the aerodynamics of an F15 Tomcat and still not get off the 'ucking ground... when was the last time your saw Saints get off to a flyer in any bloody season...!!! FFS...!
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Seem to recall us beating Coventry...AWAY... with an Egil Ostenstat goal Blimey, I am old.......
Micky Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 If beating Coventry away constitutes us 'getting off to a flyer' at the start of the season then we'll need to go a whole lot better than that next season - 10 game unbeaten run will do for a good start and confidence booster. Ohhhhh we probably won't be seeing Coventry for a year or two yet though.... dooooh!

SaintRobbie Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 We shouldnt have the 10 points in League 1. We are likely to take it now. All we need is to hang on to as many men as we can, sell the kids who are ****e and broken and get a manager and we'll be fine.
Ziggy Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Seem to recall us beating Coventry...AWAY... with an Egil Ostenstat goal Blimey, I am old....... That must have been ten years' ago. The fact that an opening day victory is so rare says a lot ....
Nadia Sllim Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Funny I can remember where I was that day listerning to the radio, bit like when Kennedy died!!!
