its all our, the fans, fluffing problem now the coffers are empty. it's not a very stirring speech, not sure i want my pockets ruffled by crouch

C'mon, give the guy a break, He's obviously trying to get people to realise how deep in the sh*t we are.

If he doesn't who will, Mark Fry can't exactly come out and say it now can he? Someone has to, and Leon's only relaying what he's been told and lets face it. With the Burnley tickets looking at being only 22,000 at current sales rate, he's trying to get people to realise we NEED to be at St Marys on sat, even if the boys lose 10-0. If only for the future of the club.

I'm not being a doom merchant, but we should know that the club can't run on nothing or minimal monies.

How about the players deferring their own wages until the end if the season? All of a sudden it's now the fans problem and we're the ones who have been hammering on about the lunacy at SMS for far, far too long. Barclays also needs to take another look at the situation if it really is just a question of £500K or fold. Do they all take us for fools?

Fully understand the need for broadening the appeal but

I return to a question I put on another thread last night :

Without having a dig at Crouch -who has previously put his hand in his pocket- there were many accounts that he was prepared to put £2m into the club earlier in the year(subject to MW & RL doing likewise if I remember). If so,is there not a chance that he might not provide a quarter of that sum now as a cash injection?

Posted

I do support all efforts to keep the club going at least until the last match of the season, but yes it does hurt. That we hard-up fans are having to bale out the club, which the miserly fool Lowe (more than anyone else) ruined, is disgraceful. It does hurt that his very presence drove the fans away that could have saved the club. It hurts that the fans are now having to club together to pay (underperforming) players' wages, the electric light bill et all. But we are where we are now.

The small amount I have pledged I cannot top, so the question is to which appeal does it go? Some of it whittled away to keep the club going for a few weeks, and the rest to wait in the hope that a properly organised fund to rebuild the club materialises? (It hasn't yet as far as I can see.)

I applaud all the fund-raising schemes by guys such as Goodie's chippie. Lets have more of them. But to which fund(s) do the hard up fans' monies go? I am confused.

We need a plan.

I understand what Crouch is saying but the guy just gets on my t1ts. WTF is he on about saying about looking beyond the short term failure thats got us in this mess? That nob was responsable for some of our highest earners that have been crippling the club. Failure has been happening for the last 6 years with 1 year nearly producing promotion slotted in the middle. I dont get how that is short term? Seems like he is still playing the "its not my fault" card and trying to get everyone else to bail him out.

I can understand him offering 2 mil if the others do because if he just did it back then they would benifit from the donation more than he would unless they put in the same. But they are gone now and so has that 2 mil apparently.

Personally I think all the main shareholders should put in 10% of the value of there shares by way of an appology for coking things up in the 1st place.

I know if we do nothing we share the blame but the people responsible should be made to do more before some of those responsible come begging from us.

All the more reason for saints fans to own the club if we can - we are going to have to bale out the club anyway, so seems a logical step if it can be done. Fair play to Crouch to come out and say what needs to be said.

Or for just stating the bleeding obvious !

He's played his part in us reaching the depths we have plummeted to, so all these rallying cries are all a bit rich to me !!

Why aren't more on the 1k or more list? I'm not talking fans, but ex players, managers and current players. Many of these people are very wealthy, many due to SFC, so where are they now?

Wayne Thomas - You were a poor footballer who got very, very lucky with a lucrative move to Saints and a ridiculous wage. 8k a week is going towards crippling our club. Giving a couple of thousand back won't hurt you.

Beattie, Pahars, Bridge, Bale, Walcott, Niemi, Lundekvam, Svensson, to name but a few in recent years, a thousand each could make all the difference.

you know, that is a VERY good point. Walcott in particular owes a lot to us! and 'Saints mad' Bridgey must be loaded..... HOWEVER, the chances are these players may have put money into the club....they just prefer it not to be advertised in case fans of their club take it badly..... (i hope that's the case anyway, and they aren't just forgetting about us!)

You jay really should get a new bra....so many good peeps get on your manly breasts.....Unite...at least Crouchey is trying.:).

Rupert was always very trying.;)....

But we must forget our petty thoughts about fellow fans and be more constructive......

Cheer up there is light at the end of the tunnel....hopefully..You may even get to see The mighty Saints play at Plainmoor in the good old English Riviera.

If the club folds they are stuffed anyway. My point is that if fans are being asked to part fund the wagebill then some sort of collective gesture from all concerned would not seem unreasonable.

Posted

Thing is though they are not stuffed as you put it. They are footballers. If the club folds they will go play football somewhere else. However nice it would be for them to put money back into the club, just like us they don't have too and they have alot less feelings about the club than we do.

Totally agree. Would have thought some of them could donate a considerable amount more than that!

Crouch says:

It cannot be the case that Southampton FC ceases to exist and fans are left saying "If only I knew how serious it was…!"

But we don't know how serious it is! Nobody has said how much we need to raise and by what date and where the money will be going. If there was some sort of consistent message then it would be ten times easier to get tings organised.

I return to a question I put on another thread last night :

Crouch has donated more than £1,000.

Now that could be £1,001 or it could be £2,000,000.

completely agree mate. how much are some of these players earning know? walcott must be earning millions know, especially know he's getting involved in sponsorship and advertising. surely he could give us a bit of spare cash? man city will probably be paying bridey loads. could he not lend us a few weeks wages to help out? i don't like asking people to give money to charity but these players have been payed a lot of money by us which they do don't really need.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm starting to get ****ed off with all this begging for money thing. There are a number of things that grate with me:

1) Why isn't Fry as Administrator, keeping us informed on a regular basis of the current situation with finances, bids etc?

2) Why is Fry sat watching all the games when he should be working round the clock atrracting and arranging a purchase for the club?

3) Why should we donate money when we don't know where it is going?

4) Why should we donate money when the players who have let us down will get 80% of it

5) Why should we donate money when the likes of Lawrie, Wilde, Lowe, Cowen, current players, ex players etc are not even on the £1000 list?

If the players ALL confirmed that they have donated, if ALL the above confirmed they have donated and we were told EXACTLY what the state of the SFC finances are and what this money will be spent on and EXACTLY how much is needed and EXACTLY when this money needs to be raised, I am sure more would not only be buying tickets but also more willing to donate.

WE NEED ANSWERS, PROPER ANSWERS AND NOW!!!!

Yes I want the club to exist and I love Saints to death but the whole thing stinks.

I know it's not 2 million quid, I know it's not enough to keep the wolves at bay, otherwise he wouldn't be begging us for money would he.

He wanted to give 2 million, let him do it.Then he'll get my vote for beanie of the day.

Somewhat cheap IMHO.

For that £2m he would have wanted some degree of control and quite rightly something in return for it. It was never going to be donation to the cause.

And giving money now is purely a donation and receiving nothing in return (apart from maybe a warm glow inside), so to suggest he should donate £2m is below the belt.

crouch has just lost almost 2 million in shares thats probably why hes reluctant to bail us out on his own.

Plenty of people have lost a bit in shares, myself included, still that's all water under the bridge now isn't it.

A voice of reason.............alas, it won't stop the uninformed, baying for his blood.

Does anyone know, if we are so close to folding, why havn't we flogged that bloody farm, or Staplewood?

Those computerised eye gyms Woodward put in must be worth a bit. I don't see why I should stump up any cash when the club has plenty of stuff to flog.

I'm not baying for his blood, I just wish he'd shut the f*ck up that's all.

There are people better placed to make appeals than he, MLT,Micky C,Nick Holmes, guys you can count on not to bullsh*t you.

what are the fans actually paying for?

if its to pay the over inflated wages of the ponces that dance about badly on the pitch then they can go and kiss my fat one.

FFS how much clearer do you need it spelt out?

The fans are being asked to help stop Southampton FC ceasing to be. Now oddly enough I'm a Southampton fan and as such I'd rather like it if the team I've supported for the last thirty something years did not cease to be. If to stop that eventuality I have to give money that will line the pockets lazy arse wasters who are paid more in a month than I earn in a year than so be it.

This isn't about the players, it's not about Crouch, Lowe, Wilde, Askham or Pope John Paul II it's about Southampton football club. Now I think that's worth saving, if you don't then frankly you can take your fat one and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Well i think we should be hearing from someone who again has got his own chequebook out again this week. Speaking to a steward it would appear that Crouch is currently keeping SFC alive. Thats why he wants other people to get to Burnley and help pay wages towards stewards and staff etc

one of the offers was quoted as being for no change in control just ensure survival of club - as a donation but only if matched etc.

I don't think he has to give anything, it just seems a bit strange when he was in a media offensive against the others he has £2m now he wants "ordinary" fans to find the money.

its £50,000 - a substantial amount.

So they would have stuck £6m in and got what in return??? Maybe nothing, maybe some new shares increasing their stakes, I don't think it's ever been made clear just how the deal would pan out, so would be very interested to see the bit saying it will be a donation.

At the very least he would have maintained his 10%, whereas £2m now guarantees absolutely nothing in return!!

Cheap shot IMHO.
