JustMike Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 i am 23 and playing for the HOME team! ahh good man, you will be bailing me out on more than 1 occasion :-) (their LW and LB are young..very young, i say we just kick them once or twice and they will lose interest :-) )
OldNick Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 (edited) FFS reading the last 2 pages makes me feel as though Im Jonathan King in his fantasy land. 16 and 17 year old boys....do I have to have a special Police check before going into the changing rooms!!!!!!! i think i might just get a conference call set up fed into the dressing room for the pre match chat. They'll be varuca plasters I'll have to put on for them , notes from mum why they can't run, little packed treats and Nesquick at half time. Phil, have we made a mistake or what! PS may I suggest that if you are going to look flash in brand new football boots, get them worn in because if you start hobbling off with blisters you will get slaughtered Edited 1 May, 2009 by OldNick

The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Got my new boots today Now i can play like lampard Ah the old Puma problem, look at the alignment of those studs and try and work out how you're going to change direction, there's NOTHING to aid lateral movement, you just keep going straight... good luck with blisters too. ;-)
The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 I'm a bit worried about the boot-w@nkery on this thread. Frankly, unless you're god-like, you should be wearing black boots. I am wearing black boots (original Adipures), but this is coincidence.

The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 I always had you down as my star the9, that type of talk fits in with my stategy and mindset I shall be bringing £115 to try and buy off someone's second half place too, er, gaffer...
Scudamore Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 I'm a bit worried about the boot-w@nkery on this thread. Frankly, unless you're god-like, you should be wearing black boots. I am wearing black boots (original Adipures), but this is coincidence. The adiPure II player knows the game because he loves the game. They are footballers like Kaka' date=' Van Persie, Benzema, and Lampard who inspire their teams with their natural elegance. They are graceful playing in any style, ensuring that it leads to a victory. The authentic style relies on all the timeless, handmade details and elegant design that make a boot pure.[/quote'] Graceful elegance?! Does this mean you're going to be floating around the pitch like Audrey Hepburn?
stevegrant Posted 1 May, 2009 Author Posted 1 May, 2009 I now have all the shirts, as well as the away socks for those who asked for them. Home socks should be delivered today or early next week.
Scudamore Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 I now have all the shirts, as well as the away socks for those who asked for them. Home socks should be delivered today or early next week. Excellent news. Little bits like that do actually get me pretty excited! Ridiculous for a 29 year old man i know... Would you like to write some chairman's notes for the programme?
stevegrant Posted 1 May, 2009 Author Posted 1 May, 2009 Would you like to write some chairman's notes for the programme? Can do, although I'm just about to walk out the door and drive to Blackpool for the weekend, so won't be able to do anything until I get back from Forest on Sunday night...
The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Graceful elegance?! Does this mean you're going to be floating around the pitch like Audrey Hepburn? Adipure, not Adipure II. Adipures are for the traditionalist (except the coloured versions, which are for mentals) who harken back to the days of Beckenbauer and the Copa Mundial, but without the agony of screws biting into your feet, whilst Adipure IIs are for people who completely miss the point of creating a classic styled boot, and want pointless white ankle bits and lopsided laces.
Scudamore Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Can do, although I'm just about to walk out the door and drive to Blackpool for the weekend, so won't be able to do anything until I get back from Forest on Sunday night... Yeah that's cool. Just laying it all out yesterday and thought there's a little room for a few words about how it all came together and such like on the back. Plenty of time left...
The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 (edited) Controversial ITKer that I am, I would like to reveal exclusively that the grey shirts have white/gold letters on the back, as they didn't have enough red... ...not just the names either, the numbers too. And they didn't do any long-sleeved ones, the sods. Edited 1 May, 2009 by The9

I do love the Copa Mundial...such supple leather... Still the word elegance keeps popping up... http://www.footy-boots.com/adipure-football-boots/ I'm with you 100% on the black boots issue though...

oldsarum Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Right, big update time. Sorry for the lack of them over the last couple of weeks, I've simply not had any time. Here are the (hopefully) final squads. At the moment, money raised will be going towards "Save Our Saints" (and I will be doing my best to ensure our money goes to the right sort of areas, i.e. the "regular" staff, not the players, who quite frankly earn more than enough). If the ownership situation is sorted before then, the money will then be split 50/50 between Saints in the Community and a charity as chosen by the players. I have had a couple of nominations for charities, all players and managers will vote on the day with the charity receiving the most votes getting the cheque. Turnstiles will open at 5.45 (kick-off is 6.45), and I'm looking for a couple of volunteers to man the turnstiles for that hour. Someone from the club will show you how to operate them on the day (I think it's just a case of pressing a button). I'll also be looking for 8 volunteers to be ball assistants. Any correspondence to playatsms@saintsweb.co.uk Steve lots of detail given above, but what is the date of the game, can't see it anywhere.

scott_saints Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Cheers for ticket info. I think it will be an absolute disgrace if our so called "die hard fans" can not turn up for this important game. I expect no less than a sell out.
The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Do the "fans" go through turnstyle "A"? The only info we've had so far says Itchen North.

saints_is_the_south Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Might have to pop along for this, could be a laugh! Will the concourse be open before the game & during half time?

Will just have to go with it I guess - i would rather have different coloured letters as to running around in a skin tight lycra affair - there will be enough of that going on in the changing rooms... are they providing towels?? What are people turning up in?
Micky Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Don't know if this has been covered elsewhere in the thread, and it's a tad too long to trawl through, but.... Just as a matter of interest, although I am not involved in this momentus game, I was wondering if .comsaint was planning to cover the game and post match photos as he has done in the past on the match threads. I for one enjoy his 'live' match photos - would be good to have a match thread going for this one too.

OldNick Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 the way its going the game wil be cancelled and have the prettiest boots competition instead. The youngsters of today sheeesh

The9 Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 Yeah an interesting thought, having some high quality photos would be great I believe this is being taken care of, I know of two well respected (well, one well respected and one called Al, LOL) photomonkeys who are rumoured to be in attendance. They have previously been responsible for some reet top smashing and indeed marvy pics of us whilst playing for the Saints IFC team against various other clubs' fans. Unfortunately as I'm in work I can't go linking any linkies cos I don't have the URLs, and much as I'd like to I'm not gonna link the ones of me in Saints (IFC) kit already online on my Facebook account, even though there are about 50 of them in various matches. Rest assured though if either of said photographers are in attendance there will be some nice pics. They rock.

Micky Posted 1 May, 2009 Posted 1 May, 2009 I would laugh a lot at that, we'd probably all be in the changing room at half time checking out the report ! So would I if I was playing - perhaps the half time should be extended to 30 minutes to allow all you players a quick peek at what us 'punters' were posting about you all...!! Another thought comes to me as well, Dubia Phil explained on another match thread recently, of a botch to stream radio commentary by using and 'open mic' next to a radio and broadcasting it over an IM such as Skype. Perhaps we could all listen in to the managers team talks before and at half time using a similar system. Perhap I am pushing the bounds of technology here, or just making ludicrous technical suggestions - but hey SKY had to start somewhere didn't they...!!!
