Barry the Badger Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 For me a major part of the problem is the posts on here with people saying things like "I will still be a fan in League One" and "What the new owners need to do". What new owners? Some fans are taking it for granted that someone will come in and save us BEFORE we run out of money and so the urgency isn't there... It genuinely might not happen.
oldsarum Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 I've got 6 Saints supporting mates coming over from Holland for this game, but it seems the majority of people of Southampton can't be arsed even though we desperately need the money form the gate receipts, no wonder we are in the mess we are, they all managed to turn out for the Man U game Ok .
londonsaint1604 Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 The united game was f**king terrible anyway. I don't know why I even bothered to watch it at the pub.
70's Mike Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 it will be interesting to read the match thread after saturdays game to see how many of those who moan about attendances are actually sat behind the keyboard at 3pm. Still i am sure you all have good reasons which are more valid than other non attending people. i suspect those moaning about the crowd levels are the same as those moaning about tomorrows meeting
SFKA South Woodford Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 That's what I was told. Absolutely pathetic numbers. The 10,000 or more premiership fans really **** me off now. Worse still perhaps, the 5,000 or so extra who only come for reduced ticket prices! The club is dying and they're worried about saving a tenner. So your last chance to see saints might be worth 15 quid, but not 24. Brilliant. Too true adrian. I truly love Saints and for years thought that they had a family that would stick together through thick and thin, that was at least 30,000 strong. It now seems that I and many others on here were wrong and only half of that number really ever belonged to that family. It's making me feel so sad, when I think back to Cardiff and the sea of yellow and blue and the unity that was displayed that day, and try to marry that with the situation now. It upsets me when I read the apathetic comments of some on here and the posts on the number of tickets that have been sold. It makes me angry that so many that claim to be Saints through and through, don't seem to really give a toss about our club. We all know that the state of the economy, threats of more job losses and the football that is being served up on the pitch are reasons for people not to go along on Saturday, but they are all things which will change for the better in time. If people don't get to the game this weekend, then Saints will cease to exist as a league team and the rumours about being in the blue square, or a lower league next season will be a reality, as a new team will have to be formed. It could then be years, if ever, before the city of Southampton has a league football club again. So come on Southampton, show that you are a city that loves your football club, splash some cash and get down to St Marys on Saturday.

eelpie Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 For all the many discussions about how to save the Saints, filling the ground on Saturday is the most immediate and positive thing that every one can do. A half or three-quarters filled ground will probably not be enough to pay all the immediate bills that must be made without cheques bouncing. If the club can't play the last match of the season, ie fulfill all our fixtures, that will be it! Extinction. Removed from the Football league. So get your mates along. Or the match against Burnley will be the last time we ever watch Saints. (This is much more important than the result imo.)
alehouseboys Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 I still believe they'll be a late burst of ticket sales but there's little doubt many believe 'someone will buy us' as we keep hearing "...30-something interested parties lined up...". When you read that it's understandable some are gonna think we'll be alright. Maybe today's Echo will wake a few up to the reality.
Amesbury Saint Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 just buy a ticket for the match. stop the debating stop the arguements Just buy a ticket.
rallyboy Posted 22 April, 2009 Posted 22 April, 2009 If we survive, fans should have to produce their ticket stub from the Burnley game at every future home match, especially any cup games against united! And there is NO excuse, you don't even have to go, just buy a ticket. Might be worth getting it laminated if you intend to be around for a while....
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Get yourself down there if you can afford it , get yourself there if you can't , just be there because .......
rallyboy Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 But we are well beyond worrying about the state of this particular team or even the relegation battle, this game is about saving the club. So anyone who doesn't buy a ticket for this game can never call themselves a Saints fan again.
OldNick Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Is it complacency? do fans think that as we are in administration it is now easy for us to be taken over and so dont need to rush back?
rick1976.4.38 Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 cant go saturday but have bought 3 tickets anyway, see you all at forest.sadly though our hardcore of support is around the 25k mark, the rest only came to see prem football, and wont return whilst the club is in the lower division, they are what i call fans, not supporters.the people of southampton need to take a long hard look and realise this city could be without a club.buy a ticket even if you cant go,coyr
londonsaint1604 Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 how many tickets now sold? Don't know but probably not more than 20,000
the boy from saints Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 The bloke in the ticket office sounded hopeful that we would have a full ground on Saturday. Whether that includes the corners I don't know? This was at 18.00 yesterday.
Chez Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 I'm amazed we have not sold this game out. I know its been a long terrible season but the combined fact that its the last game of the season, a must win and we need every penny to save the club means surely any supporter that can afford it will attend. Very dissapointing.

londonsaint1604 Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 This is very important now, as we are looking more and more like a club that's about to die.
Burnsie Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 Just bought two tickets on the halfway, even though (barring a dramatic/drunken change of heart) I won't be in the same country.
wokingsaints Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 19500 12.30 today inc away tickets! just bought my ticket, the lady said they had opened up one of the corners and are expecting with the 'walk ups', around 24000 ish
Amesbury Saint Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 just bought my ticket, the lady said they had opened up one of the corners and are expecting with the 'walk ups', around 24000 ish what a cr*p number
saints triumph Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 19500 12.30 today inc away tickets! That is pitiful given that there are only 2 days to go. Where are our super fans I keep reading about. Fair play to those who have got their tickets, but come on the 10,000 from our premiership days, your club needs you NOW more than ever before.
Mole Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 In lieu of the fact we are now down and the remaining games are irrelevent i cannot see the burnely game attracting many more ticket sales. I expect we won't be needing the extra tickets from Forest either.
SFKA South Woodford Posted 23 April, 2009 Posted 23 April, 2009 what a cr*p number Basically the end of league football in Southampton, and may very well be the end of a football club in Southampton. Seeing as how all Saints fans must be the unluckiest people on the face of the planet, maybe we should all start supporting whichever of the big four is the most unpopular amongst all of us, maybe we can make lightning strike twice.

I expect we won't be needing the extra tickets from Forest either. Personally I don't care about the forest tickets ( ive got mine ) as we don't get anything from it financially. Our last home game could well be the diffrence between life or death as its the last chance to have a pay day before the summer break. Come on guys and gals get your selves down to St.Marys while you have the chance.

I expect we won't be needing the extra tickets from Forest either. Irrelevant? I don't think you've understood what the league have said (I appreciate it is difficult as they make things up on the hoof etc.) but it could be the difference between starting next season on 0 points and -10 points. Pretty important in my view. Plus it will show there is still huge support for the club. Pretty important in my view. Plus it could mean we actually have money to fulfill our final fixture and do not incur further penalty. Pretty important in my view.
OldNick Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 I genuinely believe iof the players forfeited their wages for just a week there would be more of a likelyhood that fans would put more money in. At present there seems to be a resentment to pay money in to A. pay the underperforming players B.) fees for the administrator. I also think that there is a division between us (fans &players) and by them forfeiting a weeks wage Not putting it off for a few weeks, that we could feel more as a one. Thats how I feel anyway and whilst Im cutting off my nose etc I really resent coughing up if the future resipients are not doing so as well. Frankly a lot of them will be better off if we fold anyway as they will be free agents with big signing on fees, so where is the incentive I think
SaintRobbie Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Is there a way that the Club could refuse to pay their wages until the end of the season and get away with it? 70% of our players dont deserve them.
Tractor_Saint Posted 24 April, 2009 Posted 24 April, 2009 Do you want to know who we were playing when I got married? When my kids were born? When I lost my cherry??? If that's in chronological order then you've got bigger problems than Saints Good post though. Does anyone have up to date sales for tomorrows game? I'm actually looking forward to it for some bizzarre reason.

I'd of thought the league would have something to say about that and we'd not be allowed to go into the transfer market until they were all paid. In addition if we fail to pay players they could walk away from their contracts. "So what" I hear you say but I'd like us to recieve at leats a few biob for Lallana, Surman etc should they leave this summer.
