RoswellSaint Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 All we want now is Alpine and FC to book a skiing holiday together....... Today has been tough I felt wretched and full of hate towards Lowe an hour ago but you know what this is now about Saints survival as a club, Lowe is history. That's maybe a little optimistic but you never know. GM - Congratulations, usually a thread like this has gone off the rails by now. Maybe it is all peace and love around here now. RoswellSaint Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 I find myself surprisingly calm and relaxed about our fate. I listened to the last 30 minutes of the game. Turned it off at the end just resigned. Hopefully we will have a team next season, probably in League One (unless reformed, starting in the Hampshire League). Hopefully we will rebuild from there. docker-p Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 As an afterthought.. Next season can we PLEASE try sing the Woolston ferry at games. Me and a handfull of mates sung it in a packed pub in Sunderland a few years ago. We were invited to sing them a Saints song by the MC/Comedian. They had expected a rendition of Oh When the Saints of course and got a bit bored before the end.

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Duncan, when you update your marvellous book on the history of Southampton Football Club, I wonder where no-marks like Wilde and Lowe will rank alongside Charlie Miller, teaching the Brazillians how to play football, Matt Le Tissier teaching the world how to score great goals, Ted Bates teaching the World about loyalty to one club and our fans teaching Arsenal fans how to support a losing club in the FA Cup Final. You have many chapters left to write and I have a feeling the best is yet to come, with Wilde and Lowe a sad footnote... Thanks for the vote of confidence John. Unfortunately both Wilde and Lowe were a bit more than a footnote - hence our predicament.... but yes, I know what you mean.
Rational Rich Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 That's the long way round. Been humming that all evening, good to see others are on the same wavelength. After a sullen couple of hours, I think I actually feel much better now the uncertainty has gone, and I am well up for next season and all the new away trips it will bring (assuming we can get to next season). I'd lost the love of going to the match this year, but honestly can't wait for Stockport, Huddersfield, Oldham Crewe etc, with hopefully a united fanbase once more. (not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Good work GM, as someone who has often not seen eye to eye with you in the past I fully endorse the sentiments behind your post. I think until today I had clung on to some hope of survival but today has knocked that on the head and finally letting go has been something of an epiphany... I am feeling good about the future, (possibly helped by me being mid-workout, to the sounds of 'Generation Terrorists' and with a few cold beers waiting for me in the fridge). All we can hope for next season is that we still exist as a club, anything above that (not being docked points, instant promotion) would be bonuses. We've been to the edge, we've looked over and fates be willing we will come out the other side better for it. Here's to clean slates and to a positive future... Legod Third Coming Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 The good news is that I'm looking forward to catching up with pals in all those places I wouldn't ordinarily have the reason to visit. Carlisle, for example, I fitted out an aquarium there a year or two back. Hartlepool gives me a chance to go and see the in-laws and Crewe the mistress, so not all bad is it ever? alpine_saint Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 I was born in Southampton I was raised in Southampton I intend to ultimately snuff it in Southampton If someone asks me where I am from, I say Southampton Southampton is where the plane that saved the world from tryranny was built, by the hands of Southamptoners Southampton is the place where the crew of a certain ship hailed from that died in their hundreds whilst saving the lives of women and children Southampton is the place where a certain little-known football club hailed from that used to take great pleasure in sticking a middle finger up at and embarassing big rich footballs clubs from London and Northern Monkey Land I am proud of my association with Southampton, and as a result I could not give a flying f**k in which league the club with the name containing the word "Southampton" plays in, I will continue to moan and slag off the manager, the players and the owner after every shiite performance. Nineteen Canteen Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 John, I have just checked your ip to make sure someone hasnt hacked your account If there has been a funnier comment ever made on this forum then i have not read it. No disrespect to Guided Missile if he is being 100% genuine but the homages to the messers Wheeler and Godwin have increased my caution by just a soupcon of suspicion that the king of all wind ups is in play. In any event GM, I appreciate what you are trying to do, keep up the good work. (You're not married to Gael Lindenfield, Susan Jeffers or Virginia Ironside or someone of similar persuasion?
