Just back from the game, nice too see so many fans made the journey. Just a shame that was pretty much the only posative, only had one decent chance and their keeper made a good save when it was 1-0. Players didnt seem so show any fight, kept on hoofing the ball up the middle, very little passing along the floor was very frustrating. Wednesday wernt very good and were there for the taking...just a shame we were worse and kept on hoofing the ball up to no one.

What is sad is that since Wotte took over, we ditched the good footballing play and started playing more traditional mid table Championship hoofball football - which probably would have given us enough points to keep us up over a season. Unfortunately Wotte dosn't seem to have the ability to motivate our players enough - and Ryan Smith as a late sub.....

Whatever people think...you can't blame the players half as much as the stupid decisions that put two Dutch no-bodies in charge this season. Even when Poortvliet was sacked there was an opportunity to employ someone with experience of the league. Wilde and Lowe are responsible for this situation, not the players. Surman has been ****e for the last few months, but it's not lack of passion on his part - the coaching, tactics and motivation are to blame - which ultimately comes back to the people that employed the coaching staff in the first place.

Please let someone take over that can make a half decent decision and have a bit of money to buy a new team.

a message to those poor brave souls that went today (not me, I'm semi-plastic!) -

even with our dissenting factions, the support has been the best thing about the club this year, far better than any of the players deserve.

And presumably next week in a show of solidarity for a new owner we will stand head and shoulders above the useless tossers not fit to wear the shirt, AGAIN.

So well done to those that have kept the faith and put their money and sanity on the line - long live the club,

but bol7ocks to this shameful team, can't wait until you ALL bugger off.

(with the odd exception, but you could count them on your dangly parts)

Well the revolutionary coaching set up has done us proud!

I think in our hearts we knew there was a good chance that we would be where we are well before Christmas, but it still hurts like hell.

Lets just hope we can start a fresh next season on zero points & try & establish ourselves a decent squad of 15-16 players under a manager like Paul Tisdale & have a go at getting ourselves some pride back.

Very very disapointed.

And to all those who said Wotte was the man - ******!

So disappointed. After Wolves, it was obvious that we could not afford any more sub-standard performances because the teams around us are busting a gut to stay up. Against Palace there was some heart; today only one of the final nails in the coffin.

Enjoy your signing-on fees elsewhere chaps, my only enjoyment will come if I still have a club to support next year.

This is now me, took it in turns to drive home with eldest and was worried what youngest had posted on my behalf.

Today summed up our whole season for me, other than the odd flukey performance we have just been PLAIN POOR.

As fans we have been sold down the river, what is hard to take is we see Wolves promoted with young players and Leicester and we ended up with Peckhart, Robertson, Gasmi, Gobern, Pullis etc

and being honest even are so called good academy players DMG, Lallana, Lancashire etc are not as good as some of the young players other clubs are finding

SLH was built on sand after the reverse takeover , today it has crumbled to nothing

A colleague at work who is an Exeter season-ticket holder (he makes the 500 mile round trip from Kent) has nothing but praise for Paul Tisdale, and even allowing for his Saints connection, feels he would be exactly what Saints will need in L1. The question i whether he would leave Exeter, a team on the up....

Yorkie's post has said all that I'm feeling myself. Sadly, I too, shall be really astonished if someone or somebodies come along and buy the club, especially after today's fiasco. If anyone has ever worked for a Dutch boss perhaps they know like I do that they can drum up so much fear and confusion that any normal human being can't function. Jan was different but Wotte has lived up to the steriotypes I've often encountered. He was the wrong choice when it was clear the Dutch experiment wasn't working. It makes my blood boil when I think of all the possible replacements available and out of a job, not to mention our very own Stewart Henderson. Why the hell hasn't Svensson pulled on his boots, for I can't believe he'd not have been capable of putting in a better performance than so many players in the squad? It's not too late and why can't he bid farewell as a player by appearing in next weeks team. Better still is if Wotte is no longer about by Monday, and the likes of Franny and Matt le Tiss don't get behind the lads for our finale. Southampton Football Club that we all have loved for so many years is dead and about to be buried. Flowers and wreaths are the only thing our supporters need to take along to St Mary's in order to send out a message that it's all over. RIP.

Just when you thought you had seen everything, Wotte a shocker!

KD 4, HIS KICKING IS COMPLETELY SHOT!!!

LJ 5, TAKE A BOW SON

SIZE 3, HOWLER FOR THE FIRST GOAL

PERRY 5, TWO GOAL-SAVING INTERCEPTIONS IN THE FIRST-HALF

RUDI 2, GAVE UP WEEKS AGO

WOTTON 5, SHI7E BUT AT LEAST HE TRIES

LLALANA 2, SHOULD BE SUEING SFC FOR LOSS OF HIS CAREER

DMG 4, DECENT FIRST HALF, WENT MISSING 2ND HALF

SURMAN 2, INVISIBLE MAN FIRST HALF, QUITE GOOD (AGAIN) AT LB

BWP 4.5, LOOKED INTERESTED BUT FECKALL SERVICE

JE 2, I'M A FAN BUT HE HAD ONE TODAY

SAGA 4, SHOULD HAVE COME ON AT HT

SMITH '0' NIL POINTS, UNMITIGATED SHY7E (someone come back and defend his 'performance' today?)

MORGAN 0. WHAT WAS THE POINT? DID HE TOUCH THE BALL!

Absolute gash from first minute to last.... I'm embarressed and hurting tonight.... is anybody on here defending Wotte after that!?

Posted

absolute pants. absolutely no passion. absolutely no skill. awful. the worst game of football I've ever seen. we will struggle in league 1.

Posted

In our hearts we knew it was all over before today but somehow I feel cold and empty tonight. It's almost as though I've lost a long-loved friend. I think it's because we have absolutely nothing to look forward to next season. No team, no money, no hope.

Posted

Desperately poor effort. We have worked hard for this relegation and we will not be denied it at this late stage. Maybe the winning side from the forum game could play the Forest game if we are already down by then? Couldn't do much worse.

Posted

Absolutely gutted. I cant believe that we are going down without a fight. It just shows how far saints have fallen in the last few years. I think this hurts more than relegation from the PL at least then the spirit was still there

Didn't bother posting yesterday because I was in such a foul mood but it was easily the worst Saints performance i've ever seen. Sheffield Wednesday where **** but we where on a whole different level, we struggled to get the ball out of our own half and had no idea at all. I can only remember one shot and that was from McGoldrick, all our crosses where from very deep and the midfielders didn't get involved at all.

Davis - Distribution was shocking and shouldn't have just jumped on the floor for there second. At least looked like he cared when the second went in. 3/10

James - Not a bad performance considering how often he was put in trouble from Davis' **** kicking. Never tries to beat his man or hit the byeline, so easy to defend crosses from deep. 4/10

Size - Shocking performance, worst i've seen from him in a Saints shirt. I think he must have worked out he's not going to be here next season and probably doesn't give a **** anymore which is understandable. 3/10

Perry - Steady performance we've come to expect from Perry, didn't do too much wrong but he's showing his age a bit, he's played far too much football imo. 4/10

Skacel - Not interested again, hopefully he will be off in the summer because he adds nothing, I'd much rather we just got Mills to play LB. 2/10

Lallana - Not discipline, no end product and while he at least tried to tackle he didn't win the ball at all and added nothing. We'd be so much better off with two proper wingers in the side rather than the stupid diamond to accomodate McGoldrick. 2/10

Wotton - Typical Wotton performance, very vocal and tried to keep the midfield organised. I don't every his job when the other three midfielders are Lallana, Surman and McGoldrick though. 4/10

Surman - Terrible again, really hope someone comes in to sign him in the summer because he really won't be suited to League one football. Isn't strong enough to play in the middle, doesn't have to pace to play out wide so we have to play the diamond to try and get the best out of him and it clearly isn't working. 2/10

McGoldrick - Not a terrible performance but seems to be working harder now than the start of the season. 4/10

Euell - One of his worst performance, tried hard as always but will never score enough goals to warrant being our main striker. Played too far away from BWP to make any of the flick on's stick. Didn't get much service but when he did get the ball it was often wasted. 4/10

BWP - Worst player at the club and yet he still gets played ahead of Paterson and Saga, I really don't understand. He might have a bit of pace but he's let down by the complete lack of any football brain, if he wasn't thick as pig **** he might have a chance as a football at this level. 1/10

Subs:

Smith - Forced to play on the right again while BWP was on the left, terrible management which hasn't worked for the last 4 games so why do they kept insisting on doing it?

Saga - We got even worse when Saga came on although I don't think that was his fault, the whole team just gave up. Having an international striker like Saga and leaving him on the bench is madness, the team should be built around him and to his strengths.

Schneiderlin - First player out in the summer, useless. Whoever scouted him should be sacked, he isn't suited to the Championship at all.

Now that we're relegated barring any miracles i'd play the fringe players that will be around next season. Lancashire, Paterson, Gobern, Holmes, Thomson and Mills should all start and we might be able to help them prepare from League one next season. I don't see the point in carrying on with players who just don't give a **** because they won't be here next season.

That was easily the worst Saints game i've been to, no passion from the fans or players. We didn't look like scoring and got beaten by a very average side, if we play like that against Burnley we will get destroyed. If I didn't already have my Forest tickets I probably wouldn't even bother going after that performance it was a discgrace.

Didn't bother proof reading any of that so apolagies from any errors.

Just seen the goals on ITV, what was size up to?

His mind wasn't on the game at all today. Didn't do any of the good things he'd been doing recently, wasn't bringing the ball out of defence, wasn't staying calm and organised. Shame because he had been brilliant for a while.

He had a mare against Charlton.

Has he lost interest???

Does he realise he won't be around come the end of the season???

Has it all just become too much for him???

Shame as he looked a really good player (and think he is a decent player).

Yes to all three questions, he's obviously been told he's going back to Holland after the Forest game and lost his motivation. Can't really blame him for that though, he's been carrying us for a while.

I have not been too sure of him as he has a great game and then does the silliest things.I still am glad he joined as he helped get the defence a little better.Another one of Jans hpwlers was not playing Perry week in week out.I know he is old but he adds a briliant defensive mind to the team.

maybe he is simply disillusioned with his team-mates.

Wouldn't be the first at SFC.

That would be Georges Prost then, perhaps he thought he was sending Morgan into the club he left with the type of players he produced at the Acad like Bale,

Walcott,Best and Baird.

Everything has gone tits up since Georges Prost left.

Probably true, Schneiderlin might have fitted in quite well to Burleys play off side, shows how far we've fallen really.

This is like waiting for the worlds biggest root canal. You know on the drive to the dentist that soon there will be lots of pain and you just want to get it out of the way, but it just seems to drag and I think this sums up this season. In a way, I woiuldn't be too upset if we lost next week as it would mean the weeks of waiting and wondering will be over and we will be relegated. However if we win and results go our way, it will be yet ANOTHER week of me wishing the week away so I can go to the footy and try to extract some joy from the experience.

Posted

Thought like others was best to wait and calm down before posting. Especially after reading what people were saying in the get a grip thread....Interesting in reading that thread that basically nobody who went to the game has commented, wonder if its because they don't feel the same?

Anyway am still angry so won't bother going into too much detail as there is no point. Yesterdays game was up there with the worst displays i have seen, ever. The players we'll and truely let the fans down. Nobody deserved anything above a 2 rating. We were complete and utter garbage.

The players should refund all of us who travelled 4hrs to watch that ****. They should of chosen 11 of us to play as we would of showed more effort and more fighting spirit.

As for Wotte, i saw him laughing after the whistle with someone in the back staff. That for me was the final straw. His formation, tactics, subs were just plain dumb today. It was like watching the ghost of Burley return. Why did he put Surman back after taking Skacel off? We needed goals and Skacel was getting forward and getting crosses in. We never looked like scoring a goal and with his formation it was like we were settling for a 1-0 loss or something.

This game probably should have been a 5-0 again.

It just disgusts me and angers me so much. We are now down, anyone who thought we had a chance must now see what most of us said for months, the management has not been good enough.

All those who this time last year were saying Lowe would turn it around, **** you! All those people who were saying Lowe and Wilde would do better then Crouch, **** you! All those people who said Jan would do better then Pearson, **** you! etc etc

I bet you sleep easy with the blood of Southampton FC on your hands.

The catalogue of failures the people who were running this club made over the past 12months is sickening. What took 100 years to build was destroyed in the space of just 5 years.

The club needs to start a fresh, nobody from the old regime should remain, nobody, get the **** players out, get the **** coaching staff out, get anybody who exploits our club for their own gains out.

We need people who are Southampton people in charge, people who understand the fans who go to the games, players who take pride in wearing the shirt, share the hurt the fans feel when we lose. Some ****ing respect for the history of the team they represent.

And that is what ****es me off the most. Nobody on that pitch gives a **** about this club apart from Davis. All the others know they will be playing for a different club next year and will no doubt leach off those clubs too. The amount of money we have given to these players over the past year is nothing short of criminal. I would rather a team of Jermaine Wrights then a team of Euells and BWP's. Wright might not have been a very good player but at least he put some tackles in, tried to get in the game. The only person yesterday who had even a slight hint of that was Wotten. He is a **** poor player but what he lacks in technical ability he makes up in attitude.

Next season we need a team of fighters, starting with the manager. We need someone who will go into that dressing room and tear a lump out of someone if they are not playing we'll.

That's me finished now for good. Bye, Bye, Saints! Don't bother looking for me next Saturday, I'll be shoveling manure on my allotment rather than watching it again at SMS. Sh*t* looks the same and smells the same wherever so how will I miss it?

Saga is turd, he has no pace and cant hold up the ball. The only quality he has is finishing, but he is never in a position to do so. As for lloyd james, that has to be one of the worst full back performances I have seen at any level, he shanked it out of play a few times got mugged my esajas every time and his crossing was non existent.

i think that bradley is no where near the worst football player at the club, he is never given a run in the team and has not had a chance to prove himself fully. he needs to play with a better partner as the rest of our strikers never link up with him. a couple of times he put good balls into the box but no one was in there (same old same old).

I agree with you on the worst performance, in many ways i think we played worse this season than when we were beaten 5-0. We deserve to go down, we dont score goals and we concede them for fun. The annoying thing about it all is that our current team would be a decent league one side, but they will all be off when we get relegated after putting us down.

Posted

What a rubbish day. None of the players looked like they could be arsed, we could have played all day and we wouldn't have scored. We're going down, and we're going down without a fight.

Ey up lads and lasses

Got to say if that was my side who played like that on Saturday whilst being in a relegation dog fight i'd be going apoplectic, there was no passion, desire or anything, I wish you all the best for the future whatever it may hold

The sadest part in all this is that they already looked resigned to going down at teh Charlton game - no spirit - I can put up with lack of abilty, we simply aint got the cash fro great footballers, but there is NO excuse for not giving a sh! t or simply giving up... fight to the deat and show the fans you care and we can forgive errors, and defeats.

Posted

Agreed, when we went down in 2003 after a draw at Brighton some players walked off smirking, it really got my back up.

I spoke to a couple of your fans after the game and they were all resigned to the inevitable, shame as well always had a soft spot for the saints

My friend is a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder, he sent me this email:

What the f*** has happened to the Saints? 2 or 3 years ago you battered 4 past us at Hillsborough if I remember rightly, best team we saw for the whole of that season!

Saturday was the worst team we've seen all this season, I can't remember ever playing a Southampton side that couldn't care less before!
