Legod Third Coming Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I see Charlton's Directors have bought some of the assets from the club in order to inject a much needed 1.5million. Ah, I remember now. We just had employees on the board who cared about the club..no wait I meant themselves.
Colinjb Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 They invested in the club to make money, not plough it in. It would have been a conflict of interest for them, especially as they had no more to spare for the purpose!
docker-p Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Leon Crouch offered to put in 2 million if Lowe and Wilde matched it. They wouldn't.
saintwarwick Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Leon Crouch offered to put in 2 million if Lowe and Wilde matched it. They wouldn't. So are you saying Leon won't then?
Scudamore Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Leon Crouch offered to put in 2 million if Lowe and Wilde matched it. They wouldn't. I'll put in 4 million if you match it.
Scudamore Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I'm appalled that my hollow gesture has been met with nothing more than a wall of silence...
Colinjb Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I'm appalled that my hollow gesture has been met with nothing more than a wall of silence... I can throw in £2.50, a few naked pictures of my ex and a half finished can of Carlsberg, any takers?
Legod Third Coming Posted 16 April, 2009 Author Posted 16 April, 2009 It's a serious question. Any one them could have loaned the company money.
Colinjb Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 It's a serious question. Any one them could have loaned the company money. I doubt they had the free capital to do it anyway.
Scudamore Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I can throw in £2.50, a few naked pictures of my ex and a half finished can of Carlsberg, any takers? I'll take the £2.50. And you can rule 1 the photos. I'll pass on the Carlsberg though. And i seriously doubt that Leon Crouch has 1.5million buckaroos just sat in a nice savings account waiting to throw at Saints...
Tim Southampton Rover Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 It's like throwing money into a black hole at the moment. The directors need to know what the figures are from the administrators. Without knowing what's going on, probably because the administrators are trying to keep the parent company and the club separate at the moment, it would just be pointless throwing money into the club at the moment.
Panda Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 We are really quite good at spending other peoples money aren't we? I think some of you are totally 'out of it' when you demand other 'put in a few mil' - you can't justify being critical of how other choose to spend their money. It is their choice not yours and they make their own decisions based on the facts they have, facts we do not have!
saintbletch Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 It's a serious question. Any one them could have loaned the company money. I can see the logic but given the fragmented (and public) ownership of the share capital, no one of the Directors would want to "gift" money to the rest of the share holders. Imagine Crouch giving a chunk of change somewhere north of the entire market capitalisation of the Plc, which gives him nothing in terms of greater control and is effectively lining everyone else's pockets. A new share issue would be the only way to have done it. But in this climate, that would likely not work. Having said all that I take your point as their once large investments are now worthless. Perhaps they each realised that this had to happen.
Frank's cousin Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Leon Crouch offered to put in 2 million if Lowe and Wilde matched it. They wouldn't. They couldn't would probably be more accurate as a starting point - and Leon would have known that - hes not stupid... great PR jesture, but unless he was prepared to put it in unilaterally a hollow one really.

It is their choice not yours and they make their own decisions based on the facts they have, facts we do not have! Far from it. I run a Limited Company and have loaned it money. If I ran an AIM listed company and it was in dire need of cash, and it was my company and I believed in it, I would work out a way to loan it money - underwriting a small rights issue, buying some of its assets but with a promise to sell them at the same/market value, etc. They chose to take money out the company they purported to run and care about and believe in. But funnily enough, chose not to care enough to cough up cash... Charlatans the lot of them!
SaintRobbie Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 They also wanted Lowe and Wilde gone forever?
Frank's cousin Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 If there had been a coherent startegy for success between all major shareholders we may have seen them agree on either Director loans or a further issue - its possible that the lack of agreement on any startegy is also why this never happened coupled with teh fact Wilde must be (relatively) skint and doe lOwe have that kinda cash - I dont think so.
70's Mike Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 The way people acquired their shares really answers the original question, other than wilde and crouch none of the larger shareholders paid a fortune for their shares , so have not lost much
aintforever Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 I doubt they had the free capital to do it anyway. I expect they could.
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Putting in money towards the end was likely to go nowhere, would have just delayed what we are going through now (however with the whole FL thing it would probably have helped). Atlease now we are likely to be taken over by somebody who may be able to take us forward instead of those that obviously couldn't.
Stu Man Do Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 I can throw in £2.50, a few naked pictures of my ex and a half finished can of Carlsberg, any takers? Rule 1 IMO
