dubai_phil Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I did hear that we were desperately close on Friday. If that gets the bank off our backs through the fee being guaranteed on a certain date then that is a result in itself. Curiouser and curiouser So the bank were at work on Friday? I know it's been a long time since I left blighty and all that but wasn't Friday a Bank Holiday? Again I could understand not having enough money to pay to a coach company to get to the game and even having enough to pay for the petrol, but....

Again I could understand not having enough money to pay to a coach company to get to the game and even having enough to pay for the petrol, but.... Nothing to do with the bank, I think more to do with whether operations could continue, and that is down to the directors. We know that times are desperate, they have been quite open about it. The staff also are wondering whether they will be paid this month. If the players weren't paid there are all sorts of problems. This does make a lot of sense in the circumstances.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 There's no way we'll get this near the end of the season and we wont fulfill our fixtures. Our results will be struck from the record and someone could be relegated or not promoted because of that, the League/FA will not want to deal with the fall out of that. Between them the League, FA, and PFA will find a way to pay the players and finish the season.
IN MY DAY Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Were you glad when Jones went too? How about Fuller, Davies, Delap, Higgy, etc.? I for one was sad to see Jones, but the others were not appreciated by a large portion on this forum, surprising what a good manager and touch of confidence has done to all these player. All regular steady premiership performers but not good enough for us. !!!

wild-saint Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Ive just heard that heard from a a source close to the club (ex player - who has had a meeting with the administrator) that things are close to the wire. There is to be a benefit game a week Tueday with Leicester (provisionally agreed) to raise enough money to keep going to allow us to play at home to Burnley. Also he commented that the three serious bidders have little money available to meet the monies wanted for the club by the administrator. Sounds bleak, I guess we can hope that they are lowballing thier offers in a game of brinkmanship to get the price as low as possible. FV(k me Im depressed now.

saintwarwick Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Milkmen don't give 3 months tick. 2 weeks and you get no milk, 3 weeks and they pour a pint of sour gold top through the letter box. Milkie round here is generous, up to six weeks without paying

um pahars Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 this is just why administration is a disaster for us fans. Swansea have got the best end of the deal.In jan(at that stage the club did not need to sell as they had the bank on board) they may have paid in the region 0f 400-500k ,now they have us over a barrel it will be sub 250k and we also will not have the advantage of a bidding war with other interested parties. Rasiak will be viewed the same by Watford.Add to deductions taken by the administrator in fees on the transaction gives us even less. This is the thin edge of the wedge sadly. Which is why we should have done anything and everything to avoid administration and to keep on the good side of Barclay's, no matter how crppily they acted. I can't help but think that as tough as it might have been, there should have been a way of managing the £1m reduction in our overdraft as indicated by Barclay's back in Spetember of last year. IMHO on and off the pitch, this season has been poorly executed.
SFC Forever Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 If the sale of Dyer gives us the time to sort our mess out then I will be happy enough. At the end of the day I need my club to survive more than I need Dyer. Though both would have been nice.

IMHO on and off the pitch, this season has been poorly executed. Surely you are being a little critical with the help of hindsight. If an agreement with Barclays was made for £5 Million overdraft when Lowe/Wilde took over it would be very difficult to reduce the overdraft in October when the Transfer window had closed. The problem was compounded by the inability to raise any money from Transfer sales which I think Lowe was aware of as he hinted that the cupboard was bare I would have thought it was very unlikely that administration could be avoided after Barclay's had moved the goal post apparently in October. If the overdraft facilities had not changed we currently may not be in administration
Alain Perrin Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 If true, this shows that the naysayers were wrong and that re-signing Dyer was a very astute business move.

If the bold comment is correct, why on earth did they show interest in the first place. Even the uninterested knew how much was required to save this club.
benjii Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 If true, this shows that the naysayers were wrong and that re-signing Dyer was a very astute business move. It would have been a tad more astute to sell him (or Surman or Lallana) in January really.
L1Minus10 Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Dyer was and always will be a waste of space. Getting 500k and keeping the club alive and getting rid of him is fantastic. I see no down side.
John B Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 It would have been a tad more astute to sell him (or Surman or Lallana) in January really. Yes you are right but why would Swansea buy him as they had him on loan It is easy to say sell but not if there is no one to buy at at a sensible price...

Are we talking about Tuesday 21st April - coz if so they better announce it quick! That would be next Tuesday in modern English! A week Tuesday would be the 29th surely - the week after we play Burnley! I'm confused! It sounds like crossed wires to me! A benefit game against Leicester to raise some money to keep us going until the end of the season - and still exisit to play Forest - does sound a good idea though - and a possible one! 29th sounds more likely though.

Kenilworthy Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Taking a look at the table, Swansea who are in 7th place and with a chance of reaching the play-offs have a big vested interested in us fulfilling our fixtures so that our results stand. Otherwise they will lose 4 points going down to 61 and will be overtaken by Preston who would remain on 65 since we did the double over them. Maybe we should seek a contribution from Birmingham who could miss out on automatic promotion without the 6 points from us?

derry Posted 17 April, 2009 Author Posted 17 April, 2009 Maybe when people get advance information and post it on here the cynics and know nothings that rubbish it immediately should wait and see. As a dedicated Sherlock Holmes aficionado I can only draw the conclusion that SLH wasn't 'murdered' by Barclay's at all - it committed suicide .

Who knows but I think my scenario is better than yours. Selling players is only possible if someone wants to buy them Selling season tickets when administration and relegation is on the cards is not very honest.
um pahars Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 If an agreement with Barclays was made for £5 Million overdraft when Lowe/Wilde took over it would be very difficult to reduce the overdraft in October when the Transfer window had closed. But you would have thought there would have been enough time to sort something out between September and April, particularly with the January Window sitting right in the middle. I'm not saying it would be easy, as I'm sure it would be a really difficult task, with some very tough and unpopular decisions, it's just it doesn't look as though we read Barclay's intentions/threats correctly as I didn't see much activity in the January window or elsewhere regarding other assets or ways of bringing money in.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Selling season tickets when administration and relegation is on the cards is not very honest. Substitute fitted kitchens or furniture for season tickets and I'm sure there are plenty of unfortunate MFI or Courts customers on here who will be able to confirm it happens all the time sadly - honest or not .

rallyboy Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Dyer is our player of the season - he gets banged up in Pompey and only returns to end their run as cup holders after 69 years trying to win it. Not only that but he scores in front of the Fratton end and celebrates by inviting all the grubby chavs to be quiet. An oasis of cheer in a desert of ****e! But the money should mean we can now fulfil the fixtures. It is often obvious on here who has genuine knowledge, and also those who heard that Bill Gates, Mourinho and a Baltic consortium just got a taxi from the airport.... So thanks to those who come up with info, I glean bits myself that I know are true but you become reluctant to add to the debate as there are so many people who dismiss everything and then forget to apologise when they look like a ****.

It amazes me that the same people will still defend Lowe to the end, even now that he has led SLH into admin and with the same threat hanging over our heads. There was plenty of time between October and April to save SLH from admin, if one were an astute businessman of course!
SaintRobbie Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 I understand that agreement has been reached with Swansea that Nathan Dyer will join them on a permanent transfer when the summer transfer window opens. The agreed fee is not being paid until the transfer but underwrites the club's present position with the bank, and I believe definitely keeps the club from administration this season. Don't ask the source. We are in administration. So I dont understand your post. Dyer's sale to Swansea depends on one thing and one thing only... who the new owner is and whether his (or her) new manager wants Dyer in the team... unless Dyer's contract runs out in the summer and hes a free agent.
OldNick Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Absolutely spot on! There was plenty of time between October and April to save SLH from admin, if one were an astute businessman of course!and if we had, the automatic -10 would have come into play. The accounts would have then been shown that we had funds and fans like myself and others would have said why did we go into admin when the club was still solvent. The bank reduced the overdraft (basically moving the goalposts)whe nwe had done what had been asked to do by them. It does not seem right and proper IMO
derry Posted 17 April, 2009 Author Posted 17 April, 2009 (edited) We are in administration. So I dont understand your post. Dyer's sale to Swansea depends on one thing and one thing only... who the new owner is and whether his (or her) new manager wants Dyer in the team... unless Dyer's contract runs out in the summer and hes a free agent. Thats just it, we are not in administration, it's getting really frustrating pointing out to people who can't be bothered to read the information, or are really too thick to understand the most simple facts. SLH Ltd. the publically quoted owners of the whole shareholding in SFC Ltd (the club) are in administration. SFC Ltd, the club, are not in administration and are still trading. The significance of the club going into administration is the immediate penalty of 10 points deducted after the last match of the season if we are NOT relegated, which would then ensure relegation, OR in the event of being relegated already the 10 point deduction is applied at the start of next season. The league have a massive problem as the company in administration is a public company not in their jurisdiction. SFC Ltd which is under their jurisdiction is NOT in administration. That is why they have called an enquiry. That is why the sale of Dyer contracted with Swansea for about £500,000 should ensure solvency for the forseeable future. Buying time to sort out new ownership of SLH and avoid a 10 point deduction. No new owner given the choice would entertain not selling Dyer, and the football club as a result going into administration. Furthermore he is being sold, short of unforeseen events.
