Redbul Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Pffffffffffffff. All the pundits that are creaming themselves over it have obviously forgotten Barry Horne's screamer against Bolton at the Dell. Or indeed a good selection of Matt's dazzlers.
SB Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 =/ I'm sure they can remember it like it was yesterday.. It was a fantastic goal, and is worthy of the 'creaming'
saint_bert Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Pffffffffffffff. All the pundits that are creaming themselves over it have obviously forgotten Barry Horne's screamer against Bolton at the Dell. Or indeed a good selection of Matt's dazzlers. Your not that bloke who emaild SSN are you? They probably havent forgotten it, Ronaldos goal was just in a big match and happened to also be a screamer setting up an all English Champions League semi. That is massive news in terms of English football.
SFC Forever Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 I have seen it again and again and still enjoy watching it go in. Well done Ronaldo.
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 It was an awesome goal, you can hardly take away from it, for every great goal you see i am sure you don't take a step back and say.... i have seen much better, just enjoy it
Redbul Posted 16 April, 2009 Author Posted 16 April, 2009 Your not that bloke who emaild SSN are you? That is massive news in terms of English football. No, wasn't me. But I had to laugh at much further away from the goal Ronaldo seemed to get at each news update; 30 yards, 35 yards then 40.... I do concur though, it was a fabulous goal but it just reminded me of Barry Horne's bullet which I remember (wrongly) seemed to have been hit from the half way line.
Dr Who? Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 It was never 39 yeard though. Sky made that a little bit further out. I think MAX 34. Brilliant goal though!!
paris Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Yes i wonder if you'd say the same if he played for us and scored like that no i thought not.. Ronaldo is a c*nt, but that was a belter.
Arizona Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Yes i wonder if you'd say the same if he played for us and scored like that no i thought not.. Err... which part of that are you disagreeing with? Are you saying Ronaldo doesn't dive and cheat? P.S. It wasn't as good as Anders goal which knocked the Argies out the World Cup.
londonsaint1604 Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Yes i wonder if you'd say the same if he played for us and scored like that no i thought not.. But he doesn't, therefore Ronaldo is a c*nt. In fairness if he did play for us I'd still say he's a c*nt, then I'd say "but at least he's our c*nt."
Bailey Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 McGoldrick's strike from the weekend was much better . . .
Micky Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Strange as it may seem (to some) but yes, I think that most pundits have forgotten Barry Hornes 'screamer' against Bolton - probably most have forgotten Barry himself.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 You can hardly compare Barry Horne's goal (which the keeper should have saved IMO) to the goal which won a tricky away tie, and set up an all English Champions League Semi Final. Le Tiss scored some great goals, but Ronaldo, Like him or hate him, has scored important goals and given some fantastic performances at a much higher level. Although admiring Matt's loyalty, the real shame is he didn't get a chance to shine(as I've no doubt he would have, if managed properly) at the same sort of level.
SaintKenny Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Ronaldos goal reminded me of McGoldricks on Monday.
lordswoodsaints Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 i was saying the same thing when beckham broke onto the scene, people were falling over themselves to praise his genius but what they forgot to mention was that letiss was doing exactly the same if not better 10 years earlier.......was it anything to do with him playing for a small club like saints?
lettuce Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Barry Horne's goal against Bolton was a good'un, but not as good as the one he scored for Everton in '93(?) last game of the season against Wimbledon. I was at that match and BH's goal was a beauty, Paul Rideout swallowed his tongue just before half time and Everton came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and avoid relegation... that game had it all! :smt101
lamanga Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Cristiano Ronaldo = Real Madrid player. (already)
southamptonfclegend Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Cristiano Ronaldo = Real Madrid player. (already) why though, Real Madrid are shockingly bad... just look what Liverpool did to them... why would you go from arguably the best team in the world to them?
B Rabbit Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Ronaldo could never score a Le Tissier goal though. Not sure any current players could. The main thing to love about them was the ease and comfort he showed doing it. Looked relaxed, composed and it was all about quality. Yes, top premiership players have quality, Ronaldo and Gerrard have great shots, but they have to put everything into their game, be in peak physical condition and most the time, hit the ball as hard as they can. Just miss the subtlety, flair and ease with which some players used to play the game. The premiership had a few with Ginola, Cantona, Le Tissier and Gascoigne around. Now...no-one. In world football....not many. Messi and Kaka are superfit and work very hard, use great pace etc. It's an attitude thing as well, a flair you can't help but like with many, and Ronaldo doesn't have that. Great player, but not at footballs great time IMO. I read all of that without reading who posted it thinking..mm this guy talks some sense and knows his stuff..... Then i read it was you
saintwarwick Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 TBH I haven't seen the goal, I've seen Arsenal's goals though and will be rooting for them in the semi's.

Arizona Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 why though, Real Madrid are shockingly bad... just look what Liverpool did to them... why would you go from arguably the best team in the world to them? Money + Weather + Real Madrid would be a much better team with Ronaldo.
AlfredKo Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Any chance for Kelvin Davis to save Ronaldo's shot? I only know the Porto keeper is very crap. The shot is powerful but the distance is long and is not going to the top corner.
Polaroid Saint Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 If there were no other players on the pitch the keeper would have saved it. Pointless observation, but most likely true... ...great strike in an important game from a player who's had an 'average' season performance wise and still scored twenty goals from midfield. how can you not 'hate' (green eyed monster) Ronaldo?! ;-)
The Tango Man Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Cannot tolerate Man Utd , and tolerate even less Ronaldo..both suffer from petulance and arrogance and the pop syndrome..but it was some performance and some goal he scored ..sadly !!!!
harwellsaint Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Pffffffffffffff. All the pundits that are creaming themselves over it have obviously forgotten Barry Horne's screamer against Bolton at the Dell. Or indeed a good selection of Matt's dazzlers. barry hornes goal was possibly the most mental eruption on the east terrace i ever saw/involved in, very happy days , now whose for s.weds?
Saint_clark Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Great strike, but doesn't take a "fantastic" player to score it as i've heard some people say. Youssef Safri scored a better one for Norwich in their last Prem season.
Arizona Posted 16 April, 2009 Posted 16 April, 2009 Safri's strike was just as good, as was this one from relatively unknown Dynamo Kiev midfielder, Olexandr Aliev
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Cristiano Ronaldo = Real Madrid player. (already) Don't see why he would, if he does it will ruin him IMO. The league is completely different, the premiership suits him down to a tee, not sure that La Liga is the right kind of game for him. Plus, Man Utd are streets ahead of Real at the moment.
lamanga Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Ronaldo, Kaka, Cesc, Villa, Silva to Real. Zinedane will be Director of Football, Florentino Perez chairman and they are after Rafa Benitez as manager. Money is not a problem with Florentino Perez.
spain saint Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 It was alright! I bet if you look at match of the days goal of the month comp from this season you will find at least one as good if not better every month!
Arizona Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 It was alright! I bet if you look at match of the days goal of the month comp from this season you will find at least one as good if not better every month! Was watching SSNs goal of the month last season and it seemed to be a bit of a big four fest. Don't get me wrong, there were some quality goals in there (Machena's (sp?) debut against Villa, Adebayor against Villareal) but one of them was Ronaldo's daisy cutter against Villa. A well placed effort, but not in the same class as JPS free kick at Watford.
Dark Munster Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Nice goal. This one's better though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn3OtbMmaC4
docker-p Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 I have seen it again and again and still enjoy watching it go in. Well done Ronaldo. Christ i didn't know we had so many Man U fans on here.
spain saint Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 Nice goal. This one's better though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn3OtbMmaC4 Exactly!! we could all find better goals! It is only because the media love him even though he is a prize c o c k e l !
Johnny Shearer Posted 17 April, 2009 Posted 17 April, 2009 I have to say it was the bestest goal that I have ever seen......................................... I preferred Walcott's goal. Really see him becoming an awesome player in the Henry mould in a few years time. Fingers crossed he stays injury free for England as SWP and Lennon aren't a patch on him.
paulwantsapint Posted 18 April, 2009 Posted 18 April, 2009 More important question is who is better free kick taking CB Alex or JPS?
Gingeletiss Posted 18 April, 2009 Posted 18 April, 2009 Christ i didn't know we had so many Man U fans on here. Or youngsters!!!....they should be made to watch 'Unbelievable'....IMHO of course.
SaintRobbie Posted 18 April, 2009 Posted 18 April, 2009 Absolutely crap. .... celebration considering.
.comsaint Posted 18 April, 2009 Posted 18 April, 2009 why though, Real Madrid are shockingly bad... just look what Liverpool did to them... why would you go from arguably the best team in the world to them?
saint_bert Posted 18 April, 2009 Posted 18 April, 2009 More important question is who is better free kick taking CB Alex or JPS? Theres only one way to find out.............FIGHT!!!!!
