My missus is starting another degree course and will now require a laptop.

It's only going to be used for surfing/word processing and databasing.

Any recommendations for good deals out there in cyberworld?

Yeah, can't go wrong with Novatechs laptop, had mine nearly 18 months and its been completely rock solid, and they are really cheap. Wife has one too as does Granty, never heard any complaints.

Agree with this, and have had good experience with their laptops. Although when I was asked to advise on several machines for a company I ended up recommending Dell, but Novatech were the only realistic alternative. Both companies get the balance of spec, quality and reliability just right. As it happens, even though the Dells have since been immersed in water [they had a flood] they still work perfectly, and are a relative pleasure to use.

That's not bad going.

Good heavens, Laptops really are quite cheap now!!!

So are desktops. Saw an HP Proliant server with Xeon Dual Core CPU, 1Gb RAM, 250Gb hard drive for £95+VAT.
