Frank's cousin Posted 17 April, 2009 Share Posted 17 April, 2009 Calling in the administrators now for a Club that was bound to attract alot of interest was a wise move. The reason? It should allow Fry to process the plethora of applications and accept a new owner in time to hit the summer transfer window. If we are still in a position of having no buyer before the end of July I would argue we start to have problems as our new manager will not be able to attract in players. It isnt July yet. Start the panic then. Thats an interesting perspective - the timing thing I mean - because may have argued that its badly timed due to the relegation battle, but I do think what you say in terms of hopefully wrapping something up to start afresh BEFORE the 'closed' seaosn does have that advantage - but I suspect thats just coincidence rather thanplanned - the key is to find someone who can move quickly before then... SaintRobbie Posted 17 April, 2009 Share Posted 17 April, 2009 (edited) Completely agree Nick and Frank. July IS however the time to panic... June if you like Nick but it is the bank that pays the administrator fees is it not? Therefore it is in their interests to take the best deal within the next 3-4 weeks. What is unfortunate (speculating here) is that some offers will not be made as they will be looking for a CCC team - yet more damage may have been done by Lowe's refusal to place the club up for sale last summer as a result. I agree Nick, start to worry in June, but panic in July. But you're too pessimistic for me. Buyers have been sniffing at Saints for many years. Personally I remain quite mellow. The fact there are so many offers being made for the club - and some ARE significant - makes me feel quite confident that this will be wound up in the next 3-4 weeks. We need patience... we'll be OK. Also - Franks Cousin, I think the timing was purely down to the first opportunity Barclays could legitimately remove Lowe and Wilde... that happened as soon as the evidence was there from bounced cheques. I am in no doubt that that was the reason for the timing - afterall Administration has been openly discussed since December when Lowe's Youth fallacy was proven as a fraud. I think Barclays purely needed tangible and legitimate evidence to go into administration - Lowe gave it to them and they have not delayed in removing him. Lowe must hate Barclays - also Wilde came out with an uncharateristicly vocal attack on the bank straight after they took their decision. Barclays made the call - the timetable started from there - BUT it is fortunate that we may therefore have an owner by the summer. I'm not at all sure that the bank pays the administrator, I think that's down to the PLC,from the sale of assets..

You may be right... although it seems wrong not to have someone putting Fry under pressure though. Otherwise, administrators would go on forever on those rates of pay! Indeed it must be a good line to be in - if a bit like hyenas - picking at the lifeless remains. to take their share before the vultures arrive - what we need is a lion to scare them both off and try the kiss of life? (analogy breakdown alert - sort of had legs to satrt with but fizzeled out ...I'll get my coat)

I thought not, gotta leave that sort of stuff to the Tarzans of this world. NB If it's a lioness don't let her 'old man' catch you at it.
Third Division South Days Posted 17 April, 2009 Share Posted 17 April, 2009 If allegedly we have hardly enough cash to get through this month how on earth do we finance may/june. Clubs dont normally like buying players until late summer as it keeps their payroll down. If what hear is true(the administrator claims we can only finance to the end of the season) we had better have new ownership in place within 4 weeks or I fear for the future

spain saint Posted 17 April, 2009 Share Posted 17 April, 2009 I dont think it is time to panic yet! It took me three months to buy my house, so two weeks to buy a football club seems to early for me! Its like one of those ITV telephone things they had a few years back - kinda like a cheapo version of 'children in need' (is it me or is ITV a tacky version of the beeb? am I a TV snob ?) x 3 - so which one will emerge as winners? NDA's obviously have been signed but it is unusually quiet regarding rumours at the club.Even DM is not saying much although Armstrongs campaigning on Radio Hants with him with Merrington as a managing partnership makes me wonder if they have been given the green light if a certain party takes over. the 'I would have saved us' speech by Armstrong on the radio just rang of trying to whip fans up in support, or readying the ground.
