St_Tel49 Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Well well well David McGoldrick saves our bacon yet again and he shows he is the only player in our squad who can score consistently. Still plenty on here still hate the fella and want him out of the team. Just where would we be then? Well done David and the rest of the team that was a much needed result. Two more wins and a draw may well be enough! Come on Saints! Plus

rallyboy Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 fair play to McGoldrick, he has taken some stick recently so tonight he should be allowed to go out and slap as many chavs as he fancies. Anyone else think their keeper should have done better with the goal? From the side it must have looked amazing but from the Northam I thought their keeper got across to it and just pushed it into the corner with a soppy wrist. And Palace are so much poorer than Charlton, truly gutless and if they had equalised it would have been more unfair than Everton/Boro/Villa combined. Disappointing attendance, though quality is better than quantity for armosphere. For me it was a six throat lozenge game. Barnsley are in freefall which is nice, and while we can all see Blackstock on the horizon, let's cheer ourselves by remembering that Forest are dreading McGoldrick.... Saint_clark Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 DMG man of the match for me, he's looked a much better player for about 4 months now. I said that at the time and nearly drowned under the flood of insults. Quite funny.

I was a fighter always looking for trouble And my life was so empty, there was nothing left to live for But then it happened one night as I got into a fight I could hear someone saying as though he was praying Ah-a-ah-a-a-a-ah-ah Treat him well, he is your brother You might need his help some day We depend on one another Love him, that's the only way On the road (on the road) that we're going We all need (we all need) words of comfort and compassion Treat him well, he is your brother Love him, that's the only way I was a woman never thinking of others And my life was so lonely, didn't care for anybody But then I happened to meet a begging man in the street As I turned down his praying I heard someone saying Ah-a-ah-a-a-a-ah-ah Treat him well, he is your brother (brother) You might need his help one day (he's your brother) We depend on one another (brother) Love him, that's the only way On the road (on the road) that we're going (that we're going) We all need (we all need) words of comfort and compassion Treat him well, he is your brother (brother) Love him, that's the only way. Saint Fan CaM Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Great result - we might do it you know. And the FA might also take away 10 points, but I don't think they can, so it's all to play for. Can we win our next three? Stranger things I s'pose. COYS!
Saints Ward Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Excellent win. very happy....but against a team that had nothing to play for. Still very unhappy about our right side. No cover whatsoever for james. Did we actually have a right midfielder? I thought lallana played well, but most of his good work was more in the centre of midfield. Against teams who have something to play for I think we will struggle (i.e.e forest). Happy today, but still think it'll end in dissappointment. .comsaint Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 As I said yesterday; I fully expected Norwich to beat Watford at home - which they duly did. I also said Barnsley would beat Swansea - but to our good fortune - they didn't & got a good tonking! A real bonus that result. Finally - I didn't expect Forest to get anything at Bramall Lane...but alas - they managed a point. Next weekend's games then: Ipswich v Norwich N Forest v Coventry Reading v Barnsley Sheff Wed v Saints Obviously we're all hoping that Ipswich beat Norwich in the East Anglia derby. Bragging rights & all that. Forest should manage a comfortable win at home to a dismal Coventry. Barnsley have it all to do away at play-off hopefuls Reading. And we have it all to do at hot 'n' cold Sheffield Wednesday. Next weekend is massive. It was anyway - but a win for us up in Sheffield will almost certainly mean we'll be out of the bottom three. We have to win it of course...

Kingsbridge Saint Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Never thought we would have a hope by now but we have. Let's go to Wednesday with some heart. A win there and we have a real punchers chance.
SFKA South Woodford Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Good display by saints should have scored about 4 goals, thought BWP and Euell worked well upfront. Both full backs did a good job along with Perry and Saeijs. Lallana showed his potential, Surman again didn't quite do it for me. Wotton, granted we have no better option at the moment but sometimes he sits to deep and invites the attack which doesn't help us, and some of his passing is apauling. How the **** did the palace player stay on the pitch after that elbow on Rudi, or have a fallen victim to Rudi's dramatics? No, you haven't beeb conned. I heard the elbow hit Rudi's head, from where I was sitting about 10 yards away, sounded very nasty at the time. How Kuqi stayed on the pitch is beyond me and all of those sitting around me in the Kingsland who saw it.
vince Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Well, me nipper (age 3) enjoyed his first ever game and has become "lucky" in the same way as an old shirt, socks, underpants etc become "lucky". Considering taking him on the road trip to Sheffield next week now. I thought the team played well as a team today, the ref was absolutely rubbish - the elbow incident was a straight red, he was yards away from it and had a perfect view. special mention to Wotton, not for the 90 minute on the pitch, but for the emotion and delight at the end - did anyone else see him celerbrate the win??? He wanted it, and was shaking his fists to all end of the grounds in delight. There's still hope.

SNSUN Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 It postpones the agony for another game. 7 or 9 points to stay up, and must beat Forest on the last day. I'm doubtful.
rooney Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 Never looked liked losing this game, despite those misses. Surman looked v. tired in seconed half and BWP does not like getting stuck in when chasing the ball with a defender. Well done lads.
yorkie Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 Pleased with the win - but is it too little too late? These next 3-weeks are going to be so hard to get through - but fortunately no internet warrior during the last three games of the season! Let's see the turn out at Hillsborough. The best I can ever remember there was after we thrashed United 6-3. I think every neutral in Sheffield turned out to watch Saints that day - along with some Israeli students turning out to support Berkovic! Even remember the stewards saying - "Where did you lot all come form?" Two things to remember at Hillsborough - usually pay at the gate available and no alcohol in the away end. The third thing to remember is the dismall away pub miles uphill from the ground! See you there!!!!!

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 I still think we'll get that mean old 10 point deduction if we stay up. Even if we do, i'd rather we stayed up and got relegated by the ten point deduction, then went down and started next season with minus ten. Marino Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 I thought that the entire team played very well for the full 90 minutes - but not so well for the added 3 minutes! You could almost have written the script that they would put themselves under a bit of unnecessary pressure just to keep us fans interested to the end ! Save for their 3 corners at the death Palace offered diddly squat, probably the most unimaginative team this season at S.M. Thought Surman and Skacel combined to great effect down the left, especially in the 2d half.
Chez Posted 14 April, 2009 Share Posted 14 April, 2009 (edited) Not me. He was absolutely woeful until he scored. Lazy, uninterested and his first touch is awful. But once he scored he got a bit more confidence, and being moved out of central midfield helped him. Surely Lallana is a much better option for that role? If McG is going to play, it should be up front or on the right, not in central midfield where all his weaknesses are highlighted. disinterested? What a load of ********. He certainly looks lazy at times (his running style doesn't help him there), and at other times he really is lazy, but disinterested is not a term I'd use about any of the players yesterday or maybe even all season. Don't confuse lack of quality with lack of interest. don't agree at all about his first touch. The only ball he miscontrolled all day was the through ball early doors that was just too far to reach. His first touch is his best attribute IMO. I do however agree that Lallana should get that front of the diamond role and have been saying so for months.
