Saint Lee's summary of our predicament

Going back to the origins of our decline, definitely 2003.We were thrashed by arsenal days before the Cup final. WGS played a different style for the final in the fear we would be humiliated if we played an open game. We needed investment and never got it.

The decision appoint a League 1 manager ie PS was a disaster.

I have to agree, it does make a good read, however, as my history teacher always said to me. When speaking historically the word "IF" does not exist, therefore the only way is forward.

So we are in the hands of Mark Fry, who I hope has an eye on the future as well and not just the pound signs that he can obtain for the PLC.

My ideal like most of you would be an extremely wealthy owner who can buy the quality we want from our club, as written in the past I am totally against the way football has gone.

By this I mean apart from Man. U and Arsenal the clubs that simply by the talent they need to win everything they can, of course Man U and Arsenal spend a great deal of money.

But love them or loathe them, both clubs have been built on a very long history of support and accluminated wealth. Unlike of course Chelski, Wigan and now Man City, players wages due to this have gone to insane proportions, so as they say, if you cannot beat them, then join them; and lets buy our way in too.

Finally, as someone has already posted on hear, lets get Keegan in to get the ship steered onto the right course; I do not believe he is the best, however, his track record of steering clubs at of the lower leagues and into a successful Premier side cannot be taken away from him.

Money alone is not the answer. I wonder how happy Man City fans are this season??

I woud be very happy for SFC to go back to being a mid table Premier club that can beat the top teams on their day. To achieve this we need a lot of money. Anything more is asking too much. Even billionaires are cautious with their money in today's world.

I think Stoke represents a club that is quietly surviving yet capable of beating the 'big' clubs.

You are right in what you say of course, what makes your last sentence even more gutting is that four ex saints players are in that side.

Higgy, Delap and Fuller were all slated as cr*p when they were with us though?

No I don't think that's necessarily true Bern, I think Fuller had a very dodgy start, but he did win the fans over by the end of the season. Delap was poor for us and Higgy was committed but seemed to play mainly at left back. He is just the kind of no nonsense John Smiths defender we could have done with all season.

Tongue in cheek Rich. I rated Fuller although I thought he could be an injury liability and I agree with you about Higgy. I often read about how impressive Delap looked in training but agree again that he was pretty poor. Shame we couldn't have used his throws as effectively as Stoke though!!!
