lordswoodsaints Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 Blamed bad management, too many managers and lack of stability on our downfall.....nothing that we didn't all already know. He also said that there were 2 or 3 serious contenders interested in buying the club but he is not involved with any of them.
chocco boxo Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 I heard GT was fronting up the 3090 Corporation takeover talks.

Window Cleaner Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 Out of choice? obviously, I keep telling you he probably isn't all that rich. Alimony probably saw off most of what he earned at Saints.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 How could he be loaded, he spent his entire career playing for us, ffs
Weston Super Saint Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 How could he be loaded, he spent his entire career playing for us, ffs If you listen to some people we make our players multi billionaires, that's why we have to loan them out!
Legod Third Coming Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 If you listen to some people we make our players multi billionaires, that's why we have to loan them out! MLT - top salary at Saints 4k. BWP - 8k. Jason Euell - 14k. There is the reason 90% have given up caring about football...
Amesbury Saint Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 MLT - top salary at Saints 4k. BWP - 8k. Jason Euell - 14k. There is the reason 90% have given up caring about football... One positive from this season will be the end to paying £14k or £8k a week.
Legod Third Coming Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 One positive from this season will be the end to paying £14k or £8k a week. Truth is, I don't really care about players' wages. Market forces and all that... But I do detest paying wages and not getting value in return. To come straight back up, we will need to pay decent salaries to DECENT footballers, assuming we exist - which I personally think is still less than 50%...
Amesbury Saint Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 Truth is, I don't really care about players' wages. Market forces and all that... QUOTE] But actually is any footballer worth £14k a week? Would be interesting to know what wages are paid in L1

QUOTE] But actually is any footballer worth £14k a week? Would be interesting to know what wages are paid in L1 Good question - but overpaying is a great route to success (ask Chelsea)!! I bet the top payers in the league this season are Leicester. As for 'worth' - no, who is worth 14k a week? But if them's the circumstances, you have to accept it. Put it this way, you could overpay on wages (like Mandaric) for one year and get back up in 12 months or play it safe and never come back...

Wilko Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 It's called inflation More like hyperinflation. And it's my shoe leather at risk! Aye caramba.
lordswoodsaints Posted 11 April, 2009 Author Posted 11 April, 2009 (edited) MLT - top salary at Saints 4k. BWP - 8k. Jason Euell - 14k. There is the reason 90% have given up caring about football... nonsense,MLT was on £16k when he retired. Edited 11 April, 2009 by lordswoodsaints
saintjinksie Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 It's called inflation Inflation would account for a 3% rise year on year 2002- £4k + 3% 2003-£4.12k +3% 2004-£4.24k +3% 2005-£4.37k +3% 2006-£4.50k +3% 2007-£4.63k +3% 2008-£4.77k +3% 2009-£4.91k So MLT is worth 65% of BWP- something is wrong with football wages. Too many average players push up wages by demanding the highest they think they can get. Then other clubs have to compete as to attract the big players. Examples such as 30 yr old Jimmy Bullard wanting 50k a week or wes brown wanting 60k. then all other players and agents jump on the bandwagon and take clubs for a ride seeing these players getting massive sums.
Pilchards Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 nonsense,MLT was on £16k when he retired. Wrong.... Wages 4k. The rest was made up with bonus and sponsorship! I once got a copy of Scott Marshall contract and sent it to that Richard Chorley bloke who then gave it to meridian. He was on 24k aweek which was a total joke.
Legod Third Coming Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 nonsense,MLT was on £16k when he retired. 4k highest ever weekly salary mate. Ask him. It's in black and white in his testimonial programme too!
Alain Perrin Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 I can't believe MLT was only on £4K pw. But I don't begrudge football players being paid big bucks. If Robbie Williams sells out a stadium he gets a big pay day, if 22 players provide the same entertainment then they deserve the equivalent remuneration. Clearly we're more Chaz and Dave at the moment, but give it time.
