Pearson was not appointed by Lowe, but Poortvleit and Wotte were. Therefore the logic of anyone anti-Lowe was that Pearson was magic and JP /MW were / are crap. It follows that if Pearson had been appointed by Lowe and had been able to do no better than JP in the same circumstances, Lowe's decision to appoint him, especially after the near relegation last year, would have been criticised with just as much bile as has been heaped on JP amd MW.

Its also hard to imagine any manager failing at Leicester this year given the money washing around the club.

Portfliet would have failed at Leicester.

What more does Pearson have to do to convince some of the posters on here. When he takes Leicester into the play off's next season, will we still be reading about how easy it is at Leicester.

He had caretaker spells at Newcastle and WBA and their supporters are very respectful towards him. I'm sure Leicester fans are pretty pleased with him as well. In fact the only people who seem to have a problem with him, is Rupert Lowe's fan Club.

Let's face it Pearson is exactly the type of Manager we needed this season. Used to working with youth ( England U21's) and a passionate Englishman, who'll get the side fit and organised. The fact he was let go on the basis that Lowe didn't appoint him is one of the most frustrating things to happen at our Club.

He has what is arguably the greatest attribute of a manager. He is lucky.

Lucky that he was able to come to a rubbish side and very theatrically keep us up on the last day. He was lucky he was then able to avoid being manager of this train wreck of a club and take over an inferior club and succeed most emphatically. He will pass us on his way up.

Who's laughing now.

Bitter? Me?

Not Nigel Pearson. Because (despite Radlley and a country pile) only one of Lowe and Pearson has any class to speak of.

Well done Nigel - you deserve your success.

The other thing is Pearson actually really cares about Saints. He said he was really upset by what has happened here as thinks its a great club with great fans. He was on the Football League show and said he wanted to stay etc. For a guy who is at a club top of their league with a chairman who is not exactly pro-Southampton to make comments like that i think shows his class. Where as Wotte has said a lot of trash about the fans. The fans have stuck by him and supported the team regardless but in terms of decency and respect Pearson is miles above Wotte.

You can argue better/worse/different conditions as much as you like, but the unarguable fact is that at the end of LAST season the team didn't roll over and die every game: they fought hard. THIS year there is no motivation. That's what Wotte is responsible for.

Time does dull the memory , I am an example of that but recall the last 6games last season

Cardiff (a) lost 1-0

Bristol city (h) won 2-0

Charlton (a) 1-1

Burnley (h) lost 1-0

WBA (a) drew 1-1

SU (h) won 3-2

Hardly that impressive, if you want to go back 2 more games that was a 1-0 win against Leicester and a 5-0 drubbing at Hull.Basically it was the last 2 results that saved us.If we could rewind back to this time last season the majpority of fans would not then have been queueing up to re appoint NP. Some would have but I suggest many would have been disenchanted as well.Dexters last minute goal has changed things dramatically as we would have easliy been within striking distance.

It's impossible to compare, agreed, but Wotte has had a full season here and been part of the mastermind duo/plan that lumped us in this mess. So for me, it's a no thanks.

I 100% agree Nick.

But the main difference for me is if you look at those fixtures we got 8 points from the last 6 games. Of those games we had to go to Hull who were the on fire team, they have gone on from there to do we'll in the hardest league on the planet. A win against at that point the 2nd ranked team in the league Bristol City. And then HAD to get a result away to the top of the league team West Brom. Then obviously a must win game against Sheff Utd.

If we compare that to now we had the same thing. We had to play Wolves and we had to play Birmingham. The number 1 and 2 ranked teams which is the same as the previous year. Just in the previous year we came away with 4 points from those games where as this year we got zero.

I dont think anybody would prefer Wotte but if a comparison is to be made it should be consistant ad fair. I put those last results up to show whilst we are nearly finished we still have a hope.We stayed up last season on the back on an indifferent run of results.I hope that the players may just have been shaken enough to get out of their mindset and realise they cannot risk another dire performance.i know |im shouting in the wind but I dont want to give up until it really is over.It saddens me so many are prepared to throw in the towel.

I understand why of course especially after yesterday and the last minute at forest

Fair enough but it also shows that we are not dead YET, and so to keep my spirits up by looking back and tring to get some semblence of hope from it.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the temporary decline is terminal. The three wins were a flash in the pan from a demotivated, demoralised, under-trained, under-organised shower.

42 games in and we can't mark at corners.

And as Pearson passes us by on his way to being tested next season, I will wager, 19C, that he will glance at us as he whizzes by and will not only wonder how JP, MW, Gorre and Kim the agent all worked out cheaper than him ( we were after all cutting costs weren't we...?) but will also issue a more than reasonable "**** you" to Saints and to Rupert for treating him so appallingly. And you know what? He will have EVERY right to feel smug. I for one wish the bloke every ounce of luck in the CCC next season.

And maybe next season the roles will be reversed except Mandaric would have already off loaded Pearson so i doubt he''ll be too smug.

Always be nice to people on the way up as you never know who you'll meet on the way down. Worked for me.

To be fair, in having to work for Mandaric, Pearson is having to deal with just as demented and interfering a chairman as Lowe.

Pearson's a very good manager, simple as that. Lowe's childish dismissal of him is indisputably the main reason why we are where we are now.
