solentstars Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 It is indeed, but I would also say that appointing sht managers in the frst place is an even bigger recipe for disaster. not saying he is the answer but we do need a manager for the long term and stick by him like we used,to with the likes of big mac and ted bates . NickG Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 we need a manager with full support of new owners - whether that's wotte or new man

Well if he does stay he definitely needs to go on a tactical awareness course. Starting with the section of 'Not playing a Winger at Right Back when you have a Central Defender on the Bench' Keeping Thomson at RB when he could have brought Liptak on alongside Seijs and moving Perry to RB in the Charlton game could cost us big time... Wotte has passion, let's see in the next few games if he can raise these players 'a la Pearson'. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he does. um pahars Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 not saying he is the answer but we do need a manager for the long term and stick by him like we used,to with the likes of big mac and ted bates . Looming at Wotte's CV would suggest he doesn't relly do "long term".
NickG Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 possibly but you could easily argue the attrirbutes for full back are closer to those of winger than cb. Look at amount of wingers who end up as full backs and vice versa
gjphilsaint Posted 13 April, 2009 Share Posted 13 April, 2009 Bothroyd would be the most positive step forward we would have taken in absoluely ages... BUT... are the players/staff/fans ready for his own brand of a reality check... he would certainly do it/call it in his own way.... sadly many on here might not like that!!! Look at amount of wingers who end up as full backs and vice versa Appreciate what you are saying Nick but TBF I'd rather forego the attacking presence of Thomson for a clogger that actually puts his foot in rather than letting 2 different Charlton players glide past him - which in turn lost us the game. Not hitting on Thomson, he can only do his best and I think he's ok going forward, but it was blindingly apparent in the first half that Charlton were targetting him as a weak link, and boy did they exploit it. It's Wotte's responsibility to change things like that - tacklers are what you need in defence in this situation.
