Stepgar Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Thoughly ****ed off with the last few games. The attitude is wrong. Surman smiling and laughing towards the end is naughty. If I perfomed like that in my job I would be sacked. Wotton - I just don't get him. What does he bring to the table? Smith - Some one earlier was complaining that he was keeping out soem of the other lads and he was not a Saints player. I thought we bought him on a free?? Tough times at the moment. This is my club that I love and support and will always do, but it is so hard to support and put money in to a business when it would appear that the people that we employ are failing and failing spectaculaly. I pray that we know our fate long before the end of the season so we can prepare hopefully knowing who is behind us so they can put their own manager in and look foward to a proper season of good football and good spirit. Rant over
Shroppie Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Just in from the game. Up to the last minute was still thinking of staying in, watching on Sky and saving $50 or so. But thought we wouldn't have many there so owed it to the team. So much for that. Awful start, not prepared at all. Would that have happened under Pearson? No. Davis seems to have lost confidence after the first Watford goal and he's saved us all season. 8 goals conceded in a week doesn't give me any hope. Hard to find any positives. Perry quite good positionally, but we were 2 down by the time he started. Saga ran his heart out, but no support. Why did DMG come off? Agree with criticusm of Smith. Either get an early cross in or attack the defence, not stand still while they get organised then lose the ball or float yet another easy predictable ball in. BWP far better bet. I think Wotte has lost the plot just like Poortvliet did. Team seemed wrong, tactics (if there were any) wrong, team not psyched up at all. I am depressed.
alpine_saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Thats what was said when we came down from the prem. I know, mate. I was being sarcastic..
Smirking_Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Its alright someone else will pick him up!! Exactly, and these guys get paid to do a professional job, f*cking joke.
Not On My Watch Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 FWIW Paul Wotten seemed genuinly upset on Radio Hants about todays performance and embarked on big style fighting talk about the remaining games.. Good on you Paul !! ...he called the upcoming Palace game as one of the biggest games of his life.... he called on saints fans stop thinking that we already down.... COZ WE AINT ! Looked to me like the first 2 goals were scored by players he was meant to be marking. Aside from this I thought he was terrible today. His footballing brain isn't quick enough to pick out any incisive passes so it either goes backwards or he hoofs it. He offers little to no protection to the back 4 and so I don't see what he has to offer. Seems we can't rely on kids or experienced players to keep us up.

Toadhall Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Exactly, and these guys get paid to do a professional job, f*cking joke. At least a joke can be funny. There just seems to be no awareness at times.

Wolves had 3 corners and scored from 2. That is just not good enough.

Torbay Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 9 attempts at goal!! wtf, were the counting Kelvins goal kicks as shots? So the conclusion from the stats is we cant convert chances and we cannot defend. I suppose it gives us something to work on!
70's Mike Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Shamed to say I left game at half time, had had enough. Drove home without stopping what hurts is that after Blackpool i sain no more away games, went to Watford and enjoyed it but today. God help Wolves if they get promoted because, and this is why i left at half time, they are sh*t and as for us. Our pre match warm up must be wrong because we did not start until 2o mins had gone, we did not mark, tackle or compete in that spell. 3 down we offered no real threat to wolves. We obviously, like Liverpool, employ zonal marking, the modern term for doing nothing ?, and get the same results. IT boils down to Monday now and even if we manage to win, i fear for us. Please God tell Wotte to shut his mouth other than say it will be a difficult game, no more world class statements just because someone can do 10 keepi ups, the cones at Staplewood do not tackle.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 I honestly couldn't give a toss either way, if we won this we'd lose the next one. We are so fecking inconsistent (and have been for years). I give up on this season. League 1 will be proper shyte.
SFC Forever Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 ryan smith take a bow. the rest aint fit to wear the red and white ! thought saga had an awfull game. and so did wotten who looked slow and just lumped the ball up field with no plan behind what he was doin Wotton has always looked slow. We bought him about 5 years to late. Smith actually did reasonably well. How good could he be if he was allowed to play on the left i wonder?

SFC Forever Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 How bad does this team have to get before Wotte plays some different players. We are as good as down so he may as well start giving the untried a game.
Wes Tender Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 FWIW Paul Wotten seemed genuinly upset on Radio Hants about todays performance and embarked on big style fighting talk about the remaining games.. Good on you Paul !! ...he called the upcoming Palace game as one of the biggest games of his life.... he called on saints fans stop thinking that we already down.... COZ WE AINT ! I was also genuinely upset about todays performance and would also be eminently capable of strong fighting talk about the remaining games too if I thought that I wouldn't be wasting my breath. The similarity between the two of us continues, as he is no more capable of playing decent football than I am. We don't need players who can talk a good game. We need some with ability too, regrettably something that Paul Wotton doesn't have in any abundance. The same goes for Smith and the managerial equivalent of them both is Wotte.
Yarm Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Oh how I dream for a proper old fashioned winger to get down the bye-line and cross the ball back... wife is contemplating divorce proceedings and asking who is Tommy Jenkins and Terry Paine that I keep shouting out in the middle of the night!!! Ah them were the days!!!!
sidthesquid Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 They just don't care. And we don't have a manager able to rouse them. Oh, and we have no spine, They do care, but they just aren't good enough. They weren't last season & they still aren't
sidthesquid Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 The one consolation is that if results go against us tomorrow & Monday the mercy killing will be complete. No more worries, no more false and pathetic hope & we can start on the road to acceptance.
ottery st mary Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Oh how I dream for a proper old fashioned winger to get down the bye-line and cross the ball back... wife is contemplating divorce proceedings and asking who is Tommy Jenkins and Terry Paine that I keep shouting out in the middle of the night!!! Ah them were the days!!!! Even Mickey Judd and John Sydenham;)
SFC Forever Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 At half time Wotte could have taken off any one of the players as none seemed to know who they were playing with. If I was Davis I would be looking for another team as this one gives him no hope. We keep playing our boys out of position, still. Smith has to stop after making a run to turn onto his favoured leg. James has always been a better midfield player. Surman has never been a central midfield player. Skacel is not a left back. DMG is not a natural striker. BWP is not worthy of a place. Though today you could say the same for almost all of them. Perry is getting slower by the week but he was still trying and I wish he had taken his easy chance.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 just got back,3 words to say about saints today, gutless, passionless and spineless
Leicestersaint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 They were laughable really - going 2 goals down in the first five minutes is not a good idea.
SFC Forever Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Going 2 goals down at any time is not a good idea but they seem good at it.
sandwichsaint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Can't add much more; schit selection, schit preperation, schit tactics. When we had 10-12 games left nobody would have had this game down for any points but failing to beat Charlton made this game massive and we threw it away inside the first 5 minutes. Unbelievable! Hard to give anybody a mark above a 2, all eleven players AND THE MANAGER are culpable for being 3 down in 20 minutes, ****-poor preparation at team and individual level. Who played 'well' after that is irrevelent, tho in fact nobody played very well and there is no MOM award available for this game. Davis 5, leaking goals and his distribution looks nervy James 5, defended manfully but didn't get fd to any great effect Perry/Size 4/4, must command the box better, particularly at set pieces Skacel 3, rubbish LB, move him to LM for last 4 games Smith 2, total shy7e, how he has stayed on the pitch for 180 minutes this week is beyond me Wotton 5, actually one of his better games! (completed 20% of his passes rather than the usual 10%) Morgan 2, joke selection in the context of the game, predictably he had nil impact Surman 4, no impact in midfield, did a passable impression of a LB in the second half DMG 5, didn’t do a lot right or a lot wrong, not sure why he was taken off? Saga 2, huffed and puffed but nil impact BWP 6, looked some sort of a threat and created two scoring chances for himself Euell 2, should have started but little impact when he did come on Lallana (6), not on long but had several good touches, needs to start last 4 games Wotte 0/10 .... go now, you are an embarrassment to the club. Last four games it’s shi7 or bust (or possibly both); my team to win three of the last four, .......................... KD ........................ JAMES ................ CP..........JPS ............SURMAN BWP .....EUELL .............DMG.........SKACEL ...................LALLANA................................ .......................SAGA.................................. For me we have to win 3 of the last 4, WOTTON must go, we can neither attack nor defend with him sitting in ‘holding’ midfield. Play a proper 4-4-2 with BWP and SKACEL to give the width. Don’t let SMITH within a mile of the first team. Withdraw SURMAN from midfield to full back (a la the end of last season). Restore LALLANA in his best position. Thoroughly depressing day today, Wolverhampton is a total dump, ‘away fans’ effectively barred from all town centre pubs, officious stewards and a police presence like a G20 protest (18 plod lined up across the outside of the away section turnstiles, ‘welcome to Molineux lads’). Fair play to their fans, they were rocking both ends of the stadium whereas ours, much like the team never really turned up.
SaintSparky Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 The last week has shown defensive ineptitude of a poor Sunday league team. All Wolves has to do today was turn up, nothing else was necessary to take the three points. We looked like very much like a team that are already down today, thankfully Wolves seemed to have little interest in actually slaughtering us like they should have done after they got three easy goals. With regards to the team I just hope they actually turn up on Monday, otherwise it is likely to be another home game without winning.
Saints Ward Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 1 upfront in a game we needed to win.....no tactical sense......i dont get it....
Smirking_Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 we won them the game today not other way round, 2 gifted goals from set piece and a gifted pen. Other than that the game was a poor 0-0 affair with next to no chances. If we had dealt with the set pieces we could have got a point. IMO
St Marco Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 We'll just back home. Not really sure what to add that hasen't already. Hopefully it didn't look as bad on tv as it did at the game! The first 15mins or so was just a joke. Trying to look for positives and the only thing i can come up with is at least we don't have to play Wolves again! We really were there for the taking today and probably should of been more then 3-0. We had no shots at all. Reading those shot attempts stats now makes me positive the guy doing them must be having a laugh. The only time i remember their keeper doing anything was from a back pass that almost went in. Other then that was nothing. What worries me is the last 7 games now we have not looked like winning anything and in most of them we didn't even deserve a draw. I'm also becoming more sure Wotte probably was the wrong decision for us. I will support the guy untill the last kick of the season but the team just looks awful. If you look at it on paper it is not far from being a good team, deffinatly not a relegation team. I would even say it is maybe even better then the team at this stage last year. But they just looklike they can't be arsed. I hope they buck up and sort themselves out for monday because we have to pretty much win all our remaining games now. One more draw or loss and i think that will be it.
dubai_phil Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Utter garbage. It was an embarrassment to sit in the pub. Smith at least looked like he could play football but had no chance when they sussed out he was left footed playing on the right Only positive, karaoke night at Rock Bottomw was good entertainment value I pity anyone who buys us as this football club is more dead than a Norwegian Blue For the first time in my life I hope we go bust so I never have to watch that again - anyone watch the Reading Sheff U game after? they both seemed to have twice the number of players on the pitch than we did Absolutely awful

SNSUN Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 Just want this season to finish, one way or another. Bring on League One!
Saints Warrior Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 What I saw at Watford was typical of Saints this season; Oposition absolutly appalling and just there for the win, we get in front of goal and cant convert the chances, goal goes in heads drop, more chances for Saints but miss, then game goes flat for 40 mins, games comes alive for Saints goal goes in. Game ends in either a draw or loss for the most season. The team just do not have enough experience or fitness to last past 60 to 70 mins and NOT having a forward who can put the ball away most of the time has cost us its as simple as that. You can afford to lose vs Wolves 3,4,5,8 nil no problem if you win enough of the easy games during the season and we have had some very poor teams on offer, we failed to win them to our cost. Constand messing around with players positions and stupid tactics has not helped a team that needed a clear plan of attack. Will we learn next season!
Block 5 Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 I thought I'd wait until this morning when I had calmed down, rather than posting after the drive home. None of the players deserve a rating above ZERO! All over the park we were incompetent, inept, impotent. Defence - non existent. Midfield - absent. Attack - not worthy of being called attack. There was too much aimless hoofing the ball up the pitch. This is never going to work. Saga is an Oompa Loompa compared to your average Championship centre back; and McGoldrick has won 4 headers all season, and those were when he was defending corners. If we are going to play the long ball game, we should at least put someone up front who can win headers. The manager's substitutions looked like they might work for about 10 minutes or so, with BWP looking vaguely threatening but it soon became apparent that we could have played for 90 hours and never scored. How many times have I felt that this season??? Yesterday's performance was nothing new. I have been to far too many away games this season and seen the same rubbish. Getting beaten by 3 goals has been happening since September: QPR - Sep 08 LOST 4-1. Coventry - Oct 08 LOST 4-1. Swansea - Oct 08 LOST 3-0. Palace - Dec 08 LOST 3-0. Wolves - Apr 09 LOST 3-0. We are currently not a Championship side. Relegation: if it comes, will be what we deserve.
Andy_Porter Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 I've never seen so many head drops at 1-0 as yesterday. It was embarassing but hardly suprising when you look at the team sheet. Will take an absolute miracle to save us now, it may only be 3 points to safety but getting that many this season would be a shock. I just hope in the summer we can sell Lallana, Surman and Schneiderlin and use the money to keep everyone else. I honestly think we would be better off without those three in our side next season.

SFC Forever Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 The problem is that lack of performance lowers the price.

SFC Forever Posted 11 April, 2009 Posted 11 April, 2009 Well it couldn't be any worse. I would be tempted to put Hatch in as back and move James forward. Drop Lallana and push BWP up
scotty Posted 12 April, 2009 Posted 12 April, 2009 We are going to be five points behind now. Can't see us clawing that back to be honest. Even winning our two home games probably wouldn't be enough and I can't see that happening anyway. The nest we can hope for is no points deduction for next season and a seriously wealthy new owner. Why would a seriously wealthy new owner be interested in a League 1 side?
Sarnia Saint Posted 13 April, 2009 Posted 13 April, 2009 Why would a seriously wealthy new owner be interested in a League 1 side? Possibly - it should lower the asking price and the facilities are all in place so no major redevelopment costs to worry about meaning there is a lot of potential for possibly comparatively little outlay. Surely a better bet than buying Portsmouth?
Window Cleaner Posted 13 April, 2009 Posted 13 April, 2009 Surely a better bet than buying Portsmouth? don't kid yourself.Portsmouth are in the Premiership with a guaranteed income of somewhere around 40 million a season. Plus they have players they could sell for at least 50 million. We have debts, few assets and are in the 3rd Division-one way or another..
